0:42 I think the KO happens because you landed on actual ground past the blastzone. Stages like Rainbow Cruise sometimes move downward, and if you get stuck on a platform while trying to go down you get KO'd. That'd explain the lack of damage and hurt sounds, too.

I think you die when you stand on the tower because you probably die just by standing on a platform in the blast zone (since platforms rising up with people on them kill them as well)

thats what I think as well. It probably has something to do with being in a certain animation state while in the blastzone. Taking damage for example doesnt kill you if they dont have knockback in the balstzone [such as Fox lasers]. The state of being in tumble does kill you in the blastzone though or any form of knockback. So it probably has to do with the animation like you said.

Maybe it's just being grounded, because you can run off stages and die on flat stages that extend through the blast zone. That example could just be the side blast zones behaving differently than the top, but it could still apply to the top

A few things to possibly include: The game's coding makes it so being on a platform while in the top blast zone will ALWAYS star or screen KO. Size changes effect ALL melee hitboxes, if I recall correctly. Anyway, love your vids!

I think what causes the death at the top of the tower is that if you stand on the ground outside the blastzone, you die. It's the same as if you walk into the blastzone on a walk-off stage.

True of any blast zone I think, that's what kills you on walkoffs, scrolling stages, and if you stay on a platform as it zooms off the screen.

1:44 on scrolling stages like mushroom kingdom, if puff breaks shield under a block the scroll will cause it to slide off and fly really high, but not get ko'd for some reason

0:50 You die because you can stand on the very tip of the pillar. If you're grounded while outside the vertical blast zone you get star ko'd. In smash ultimate they made it so that most of the moving platforms will dissapear once they get to the blast zone to prevent people from getting star ko'd, but it is still possible, especially on custom stages or on maps like Great Plateau tower where you aren't supposed to get that high

The Great Plateau can be explained easily. You can die by being carried by a platform above ceiling. If a standing platform exists at the tip of the tower, I'd wager you die by carry. So my guess is that the blast zone registers standing states as a death trigger as well.

I think standing on the peak instantly kills you for the same reason you'd die when riding a platform to the top like in moving underground mushroom kingdom, platforms off the top you're standing on kills you. You can actually clash with incineroar's forward special with a grab, similar to what happens when 2 characters normally grab eachother at the same time. Also, does a pocketed/reflected whack/thwack increase the chance of instant KO?

For the first clip: I did alot of modding in Brawl so I can say from experience that if your character gets hit OR exists in a standing position while be6ond the top blast zone, you immediately die off the top. This is why platforms that travel up can kill you but bunny hoods don't. For this game, it still applies but stages that have platforms carry you to the top are now designed to despawn off screen but before the blast zone to prevent stage KO's like this. Howevever, the top of the Great Plateu tower probably has a SUPER small point you can land on beyond the blast zone where the two walls meet and Nintendo probably overlooked it. That's why Jiggs dies, because you DID land on top but it was beyond the blast zone making it one of the only stages in Ultimate that can still kill you like this

0:49 i know... have you seen in some stages than when a platform goes off the screen upwards and someone is standing on it, the layer standing dies? (idk if it still happens in ultimate but in happened in smash 4), its the same thing, you can go far beyond the blasstzone since there is no knockback or a platform to stand, but at the moment you stand to the top, you instantly die.

0:55 no, standing on a platform above the blast zone causes a ko. Most stages with platforms that rise off have the platforms just disappear before that actually hapoens, but I believe there are a few that don't.

Here's a pointless fact: Hero can only use a set four moves for his down special in Home-Run Contest. So, you can't use kamikaze in that mode, unfortunately. What's interesting is that kamikaze appears in Spirits mode, which is weird since you almost always have one life (with the exception of the final battle).

about great plateau tower: if you're standing on a stage and get pulled out towards the blastzone, like in town and city, you die. thats probably whats happening here. the most likely reason there's no death animation is, the trigger for that is probably when you enter the blastzone, and you're already in the blastzone when you land on the tower

I can explain the first one: Jumping to the top blast zone doesn't kill you, but standing on something in the top blast zone does. It's probably not a hitbox, you're probably actually standing on it and instantly dying.

Regarding the Great Plateau Tower segment, idk if you know this already but if a Grounded character touches the Upper Blast Zone, they are automatically KO'd. This can be seen in the Stage Builder and Master Hand's "cheese slice" platform attack in Smash 4. I also think it's possible that the Beetle uses this mechanic, since it locks players into the "grabbed" animation, which is normally a grounded state. Boss Galaga may have a similar effect with a different animation, but that animation is also a result of knockback, so I think it's still plausible.

-I think for the gp tower it's like if moving platforms carry you off the stage vertically. Being oob and airborne (no hitstun) vertically is fine but if you're standing on a platform or surface you immediately die. -Falcons up special is also non clank variety I think. And AAAAAAAAH you're a minish cap fan pk aaaaaah nicee. (I actually didn't know, is your profile pic based on the wind element?) What a great game *sigh*, one of the first few Zelda games I played growing up. Plus, the theme in this vid from the minish settlement in the minish woods is one of my favorite songs ever. It's otherworldly/unreal.

Minish Cap is actually my favorite game! Yeah my pfp is definitely the wind element. Huge fan of their soundtrack, which is why the Cloud Tops theme is my outro song!

The first fact; the one with the great plateau. This is because landing on a platform when outside the blast zone instantly KOs a fighter. You can test this with the stage creator but I can't quite give an example of how to set it up.

the reason the top death barrier kills you is because voluntarily moving above it doesn't count as hitting it be standing on it does. some stages have platforms that move up off screen and to prevent abuse of this function they added a property to standing while above the death barrier that kills you.

The reason you just die when you land ontop of the tower is because it is inside the actual blast zone itself, and any interaction up there will be instant death, this can also be seen in project M with lucario wall climb in the training room

In RPG games NPCs and enemies can have death immunity. Maybe assist trophies are considered to be one or both.

There's a mechanic in the game that if you stand on something above the top blast line you will be KO'ed, usually star KO'ed. An easier setup is using a rocket belt on the first part of the Galeem and Dharkon and land on a platform before it appeared on screen.

As a matter of fact, you can stand on the top of the plateau tower. But if you do, you instantly get star KO'd. If you're standing on any platform above the blast zone, you get star KO'd automatically. This can easily be replicated with any stage that has platforms that fly upwards, such as at the end of rainbow cruise.

5:10 I’m pretty sure you can also stack the slow time with shadow (assist trophy) so it can be witch time, timer, and shadow all making one slow as HECC joker
