exactly the Connie is more then 100 years more advanced then he NX kind of like fighting a supercarrier with a fleet of blow up dingy's , the dingy's will not win lol.
@@ionamoebam5931 I look at it this way, a 100 year old ship can win, but it depends on a few factors. A WW2 era Iowa Class Battleship could take out a modern Ticonderoga Class Cruiser in certain circumstances. A warship from 1840 has absolutely zero chance of taking out an Iowa. The advancement in tech between 1840 and 1940 is much greater than 1940 to 2040 will be in terms of actual firepower that can be concentrated on the other target. The Iowa has better armor and guns. What it doesn't have is long range missiles and modern tech. So long range, the Ticonderoga wins. Close range, the Iowa wins. The era in which the Connies were in service saw major technological advances and conflicts with the Klingons. It makes sense a Connie is going to be ridiculously more powerful than a ship even 20 years older than it. Comparing a Connie to an Ambassador Class probably has much less of a tech gap. The Federation got very very lazy and complacent at some point, probably Khitomer.
Yeah I mean we saw the twin phasers of the USS Defiant literally blow an Andorian Kumari class out of the way and we know that class of ship outgunned a standard NX.
One of the coolest things to see in STO is all phaser arrays firing at once when you're engaging multiple hostile ships at once. Always wondered why they didn't do that more in the shows...budgetary constraints, I guess? 🤷
I believe phasers are meant to be able to channel the full power of the eps system through a single outlet, so firing from more outlets wouldn't be useful apart from situations where there are multiple targets
According to These Are The Voyages, the ship was being decommissioned 10 years after its launch. However, with the refit being cannon, we can assume it was in service longer.
It's interesting how you were able to take the Connie like that not once but twice. I think the NX-01 Enterprise was decommissioned a few years prior to the 1701 Enterprise being commissioned. I could be wrong though.

Or, maybe, against every other ship "From Hell" and watch the chaos ensue! Also, see how many ME Galaxy X's FH it takes to dent the Exile! Bridge Commander is DEFINITELY gonna crash!!
The secondary hull probably contains another warp core, so it likely doubled the ship's output or more in addition to the addition of actual shields, possibly more/better torpedo launchers in the secondary hull, updated phasers. Arguably the NX refit is a larger leap over the NX than the Constitution is over the NX refit imo.
The Galaxy X FH, Constitution FH, DS9 FH, Klingon Borg Hunter FH, Section 31 Defiant FH, and the Borg Rubik's Cube FH combined hopefully can destroy it (the Lantian drones being a big help).If you need more firepower, the Borg BC304, Wrath Super Hive, World Razor, and the YoH Voyager should help, even if all they do is distract the ME Galaxy X FH.
The NX class was decommissioned at the founding of the Federation in 2161 due to Warp technology advancing far enough to make the NX obsolete in a way, and the Daedalus class remained in service until the 2196. The Daedalus was just easier to make than the NX class was I guess. Possibly the Daedalus could handle Warp 6 & 7 easier than the NX class or it's refit could.
From looking at the USS Horizon, a Daedalus could easily be completed/refit much quicker and with so much fewer resources, four could be built for a single NX. The warp 5 engine, itself was a paveway to the emerging warp 7 engine of completely different design. Replacing the engine perhaps in that instance wasn't practical. The somewhat newer Columbia-type had the secondary hull to accommodate any of the newer components. Two other prominent features were the original NX warp fields were unstable, requiring the governor module. The older navigational deflector probably wasn't up to the task of higher sustainable speeds and might have needed a short, high-capacity power conduit fairly close to a warp reactor. Likewise, installing the new forcefield generators and projectors was a much less tedious operation for the Daedalus design. Even if a single Daedalus was much weaker than a Columbia or even later NX, the numbers translated to a better investment. Crew requirements may have been higher for a several reasons, but Starfleef personnel would see dramatically larger enlistments to staff new ships.

With the installation of the Warp 7 engine, the NX Refit was probably at least twice as powerful as the original NX Class, if not three times more powerful. The power generation difference between an engine capable of Warp 5 and one capable of Warp 7 is vast.The problem with the NX Refit was probably that it was too small to really take advantage of the new weapons systems the new engine could power. The NX is really a small ship with only tiny spaces for its weapons. Their phase cannons were tiny compared to the Connie's and even then they could only carry three.
Crazy how much faster the warp 7 ships are compared to warp 5. I imagine that was a massive speed jump. Imagine how much that would have altered space exploration. Thanks for the info, as always 🖖
its roughly 3 times the speed (125xc to 343xc) but around 10 times the megawatts per Cochrane, which might not mean 10 time the power, am not sure but defiantly a vast upgrade in power generation like you said.
Honestly it was probably more than an order of magnitude, the 22nd century ships firing all they had at the Defiant didn't even scratch the paint when it was unshielded
That AI was terrible. One has to really suck to lose that battle. The Connie is vastly superior to the NX refit. In "A Mirror Darkly" we saw the USS Defiant take out a small fleet of NX era ships, including the considerably superior (to the NX Class) Vulcan, Tellarite and Andorian warships as if it were nothing.
Side note. Its a damn damn shame Enterprise never got season 5 (and beyond), the refit version looks absolutely great and is a wonderful idea for the design progression towards the Constitution and frankly as a show, it really hit its stride in Season 4 (except that final episode but we wont talk about that. Ever.)
Good battle; though I am surprised you lasted long enough to cause critical damage, seeing what the USS Defiant did to the ISS Avenger, though much of that damage was done by the torpedoes, which never hit you. 🖖
I mean weve litterally seen a Constitution class ship obliterate multiple NX era ships including an NX class (and they were Mirror Universe ships too so presumably more directyl built for battle and more heavily armed/shielded one would presume and they still got rinsed by what was a prime universe TOS era Constitution. If anything even the last fight playing as the Connie was too hard it should have practically one shotted the Columbia certainly and most likely not far off that with the Enterprise season 5 refit....
I wonder why the nx never used again those red proyectile weapon. The only time when we see it its on the first episode and then they are not mentioned again ever. Wich is funny considering that we always see those launchers on all the shots of the ships.
Maybe that weapon was so bad that it was a waste of power to use it, might as well direct that power to the phase cannons and photonic torpedo launchers

Something weird happened with the Tactical display menu with a huge button there at 0:55, does it happen still if you keep doing a battle with that TOS Enterprise and a friendly or enemy WC Columbia?
I’m not sure. I’ve noticed kobayashimaru can do this sometimes. Especially when you’re on your 5th or 6th match and it hasn’t crashed yet… I think it’s a sign it’s becoming unstable 🖖
@@RetroBadgerGaming I've also seen that happen sometimes (mostly) with Stock, and even once with Remastered, I think it might be a script issue somewhere. Just, if it happens again with an specific set of ships in an specific order, we may narrow the causes down to an specific script and finally have it patched.
Should have made the story a bit juicier. We could say that's actually the Defiant and after 23rd century tech started to be distributed to the Terran Empire, Empress Sato found herself facing a rebellion and was forced to flee to the 22nd century prime universe where she planned to conquer the weakened UFP in the wake of the romulan war, and captains Archer and Hernandez were dispatched to stop her.
