I will begin by saying I have a ZT0452 in my pocket and two Kunwu's on my desk. I own an Acta Non Verba Anthropoid which is is the best knife ever made. I own over 200 Spydercos. I know Sal Glesser and have had dinner with him several times. Soooooo, yes of course they can. I have two awesome satin blade daggers and a Bowie from Pakistan, sold by sellers on Etsy in the UK. These are superb knives, I have had them heat treated. The Rockwell is appropriate for D2. Yes, some of these knives are bad, or used to be, but there's a vast amount of racism involved. Where do Americans think Damascus stell came from? The clue us in the name, Chad.

Based on my experience with Pakistan made damascus blades, generally there are 2 types of damascus blades which are stainless steel damascus blade and high carbon damascus blade. High carbon damascus steel will easily rust due to high carbon content if not stored properly. If it is a high carbon damascus steel, you should keep it seperate from the leather sheath since leather tends to attract moisture. I wrap my high carbon damascus blades in wrapping plastic for storage. I only bring it inside the leather sheath when im about to use it. I usually put colourless wax coat on my high carbon damascus blades to make it not rust easily. If rust appears, i remove it with 0000 grade steel wool and use oil as lubricant. This is the safest way to remove rust and not have scratches on high carbon damascus blades.

Working with a poor performance knife is dangerous and frustrating. I guess it is all in the hands of the sharpener. But a well made knife does not need to be sharpened when it is brand new. And if made from good steel, it don't need sharpening for a long time. I bought a Buck 110 (USA made) and the first time it was used was when I lent it to my sister in law to cut something. She said it was dull and useless. She works in the kitchen a lot and knows how to use a knife. But the Buck 110 is well made and it only needed to be sharpened. Far as Turkey knives go. Well, I try stay away from Knives made in China. But sometimes you get what you can afford.

I had a replica FS, my worst knife. Unbalanced, not symmetrical, the guards not of the same size. Awful.
