Can Qui-Gon Speak to Vader in Kenobi? (Luke did it to Cade) - Star Wars Theory

Qui-Gon is one of the greatest and most underappreciated characters in Star Wars. I love The Phantom Menace! Seeing Qui-Gon again in the Kenobi series would be so great.

I would definitely love a Qui-Gon cameo in the Kenobi Series!!

I can’t imagine Liam not being a part of Kenobi. Even if it’s a minimal role it just doesn’t make sense to not show Obi-Wan speaking with Qui-Gon. Especially since we know he’ll want to discuss what happened to Anakin and share his regrets about it

Even if we can't see Liam in it, I hope we at least get his Voice. I feel like it's needed for the story. Who knows, maybe Liam will come out of retirement and be in it! That would be incredible. I know Liam is still proud of Phantom Menace so just Maybe.

Of all the EU books I read on this subject. I always believed that Anakin/Vader had blocked all communication with Qui Gon. I believe he heard him at times. But! Really didn’t believe that one could transcend death and return to the physical realm

I’ve always thought that Qui Gon was yelling directly at Anakin when he started slaughtering the sand people and Yoda just sort of overheard it through the Force.

If Qui-Gon was able to reach out to Vader I think they would be able to have a civil discussion until he'd eventually have to bring up Padmé which would just make Vader flip and cut the conversation short.

Qui Gon is honestly one of the best Jedi ever

Maybe Palpitine was driving any attempt of Qui-gon trying to communicate away with the force or he designed Vader's suit to subdue any force premonitions.

The one thing Phantom Menace left me with was that the Jedi can be easily killed if they're not centered and age will catch up to you depending on your species even with the force prolonging your life. When Anakin says to Qui Gon that no one can kill a Jedi. Qui Gon tells him nope. I feel like Jedi died in the handfull all the time. They can be overwhelmed and distracted and wore down. Phantom menace showed me that being a Jedi was a terrible life lol.

Well... That moment within Attack of the Clones when Anakin is slaughtering the Tusken Raiders after the death of his mother... We hear a ripple of Qui-Gon's voice yelling, "ANAKIN!" Yoda was able to faintly hear this while sensing that Anakin was in terrible pain... I don't think he would be able to outright talk with him... I imagine Obi-Wan was barely fortunate enough to reach out to Anakin to show him how to become a ghost as he transitioned into the force. He'll talk with Obi-Wan I'm sure... He may even tell him that he's tried reaching out to Anakin but cannot... Leave it to the will of the force after that or something.

This will be epic if they chose to do this in the Kenobi series!!

Qui-Gon knew that he could not interfear with Anakins destiny. Just like Kenobi told luke he could not interfear when confronting his father.

Qui Gon involved in any shape or form would be incredible

As a child he used "force sense" during each pod races, that's why he survived the each time; but he isn't a "marry sue" as "she" was in the sequel trilogies, thusly he couldn't use any other force ability with out training.

I honestly don't think Vader's going to get some of the character development some of us are hoping for. I think he'll get quite a few scenes and that'll be linked to Kenobi for the most part but I think we should temper our expectations tbh. I hope we see lots of cool shit with Vader but I'm just not convinced. Not yet anyway.

Maybe Qui Gon will almost get through to Vader but Palpatines control over Vader will keep him from being able to do anything with Qui Gone advice and that will somehow cause him more anger.

Balance he did bring, if the force needs balance, then it was the light that was shining too bright....so Anakin brought about the dimming of that light and then took out the imbalance in the darkness. Also, maybe once Qui-Gon became one with the force he could see the path Anakin must take to restore the balance. Maybe not all of the steps, but the path.

It’s my new head canon that the reason Luke drank the blue milk in last Jedi was to cut off his connection to the force.

I think it would be very interesting to see Qui-Gon speak to Anakin(Vader) just before the events where Luke turns himself in on Endor. It would really put doubt in Vader and have him think about everything as he speaks to his son about redemption. Even igniting Luke's new green saber (Qui-Gon's crystal).. ;)

It is because Qui-Gon believed in following the will of The Living Force... "concentrating on the here and now" and "being mindful of his feelings".

I actually want to see video of like with a mix of both like at first he's like really emotional and like happy that he's hearing qui-gone but then gets really angry

I appreciate this theory, and seeing Qui-Gon again, or hearing him in depth, would be fantastic. Lets see. We can assume he'd be willing after his TROS voice cameo. So lets put him in something proper, give him a bit more of a cameo/role and see it happen. If anyone he'd speak with Kenobi though. Just my thoughts!

What if Qui Gon knew Anakin had to fall to rise above the Dark side and bring balance🤔

It sounded like Qui-gon was trying too talk to Anakin in episode 2, but he was to focused on killing the Tuskan Raiders that he couldn't hear him. Yoda was probably just the only one who could hear him.

Qui-Gon's presence in the series after his death has been a marvelous feature used to guide characters to progress towards enlightenment about The Force. His interaction with Yoda during the Clone Wars series was amazing in giving insight into becoming One with The Force after death. _Honestly it's given me questions as to how Qui-Gon learned this technique..._ In novels pertaining to Kenobi's time alone on Tatooine he has also appeared briefly to give glimmers of hope and insight during the rising age of the Empire. _While I haven't read enough novels on the matter, I'm sure others have much more insight and details on this at length._ Great Video! Loved pondering over this topic.

I think that Vader will be kinda receptive at first but then convince himself that Qui-Gon was the cause of all of this, because Vader always blames his problems on everyone else instead of taking the blame for it and so I think that’s when he will sit Qui-Gon out further pushing him to the dark side, to where we see him in Rogue One and A New Hope.

There is a comic between original trilogy where obi-wan as force ghost was talking to vader but he dismissed it as hallucination

Qui Gon spoke to Anakin on Mortis in Clone wars and he spoke to Anakin before that in Ep2 when Anakin was killing the Tuskgen Raiders, you can hear him say ‘Anakin, Anakin no!’

Speaking of Vader being mostly Anakin or lesser, I do wonder what would've happened if Vader had found Ashoka early, much earlier. Possibly around the Kenobi show, or only a few years after ROTS. I feel, depending on when she encounters Vader, she could have a solid chance of bringing back Anakin. She couldn't do it too early, as the trauma was too fresh, but she couldn't do it too late either.

i could see qui-gon having the view that the force would decide his fate, or perhaps maybe qui--gon knew all along what was in store and saw it as a needed evil to balance the force. because at the end of episode 6 one could argue that ankin did indeed destroy the sith like the prophecy foretold by killing palpatine and then dyeing himself. and id love to see a scene or 500 of him and vader discussing such

He was weak and lost to Maul, the Dark side sound say he should due and he ignored, that may have something to do with it they can lean on.

I’ve got as much hope for Qui-Gon to show up in the Obi-Wan Kenobi show as for Anakin to show up in the Ahsoka show. It’d be really nice to see them interacting with their apprentices one last time. As long as they are not some sort of a goodbye scene like in the end of ROTJ and TROS because then it will be too much repetition. But yeah, … we’ll see. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think they are keeping it secret about all of the cameos . When you tell the story of obi wan and Vader I think after Luke, Leia, and their new parents. There are those who were really close to them. If they want to explore obi wan's mind I believe they have to bring back qui gon and Satine. In the same way, they will have to show Padme for Vader's nightmares.

Regardless how they handle or do it, Quigon MUST be in the Kenobi series!! We can come up with so many ways they can do it, but for that to happen first, he NEEDS to be included. I think its about a 50/50 chance they include him. It IS disney afterall and they dont give me much faith in anything starwars lately, so im keeping my expectations VERY low.

Qui-Gon should be in Kenobi regardless if he speaks to Vader, we want and need to see how Obi-Wan learns how to become a force ghost, and they should show how he learns that.

I'm still proud that I share a name with a Skywalker in Legends. Though if I were my Star Wars Legends counterpart, I'd keep my red Lightsaber and Dual Wield a Blue Blade with my Red Blade.

Maybe that’s why he hasn’t spoken to Vader, because he feels that he is partly or fully to blame for all that has happened, he was adamant that Aniken be trained into the Jedi order. And when he died he failed him and ultimately the galaxy, in a larger perspective, as he wasn’t there to train and guide Aniken. He may also have given up trying, we know he tried in episode 2 when he killed the sand people, but it didn’t seem like Aniken heard him, maybe he just feels ashamed and hopeless.

Part of me likes to believe that the Qui-Gon redeems Vader RU-vid series is canon and that Qui-Gon spoke to Vader during RotJ and guided him into besting his master and saving Luke. Another part of me likes to believe that Qui-Gon knew it was the will of the Force that Vader do what he did and knew to stay out of it. And Another part of me likes to believe Qui-Gon is a secret ally of Palpatine and a Sith Lord himself and everything was proceeding as they had foreseen. Qui-Gon: "Train the boy." Palpatine: "Okay I will DEW IT!" Qui-Gon: "He will bring balance." Palpatine: "Soon I will have a new apprentice, one far younger and more powerful." Both: *Evil Laughter*

i feel like if qui gon didn’t talk to vader, it’s because he knew it was the will of the force or because he already knew this was how he would bring balance to the force

I have a couple of theories as to why Qui-Gon did not reach out to Anakin after Mustafar, both based in the fact that I've read "Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader" multiple times and have contemplated this very question. 1. If they do take elements from that novel, then Vader is fully (well, 99.9%, which is close enough for statistical purposes) immersed in the dark side by the time of the Kenobi show. And as you yourself explained in another video, Force ghosts don't just manifest to everyone in the room, just to those with whom they have a powerful connection (hence why Luke could see Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Anakin at the end of ROTJ but none of the dozens of people around him could). Qui-Gon could have tried to reach out to Anakin, he could have been trying the entire time, hell he could have been shouting himself hoarse (metaphorically) but Vader being Vader, as deeply enmeshed in the dark side as he was, wouldn't have been able to hear him. And even if the part of him that was still Anakin COULD hear Qui-Gon... 2. Vader would have rejected any thought of communing with Qui-Gon anyway. As Qui-Gon himself noted in the novel, Vader consciously avoids anything that would or could threaten to awaken the core of him that is Anakin. Speaking with Qui-Gon would be very, very high on that list of things that Vader would be avoiding. In fact, from his new, twisted POV, Vader would no longer respect Qui-Gon; he'd look down upon him with scorn and derision, for two reasons. First, I can see Vader blaming Qui-Gon for his (Vader's) state of being. If Qui-Gon had trained Anakin, maybe he would have been a better Jedi. Maybe he would have been able to defeat Palpatine and become the hero he always dreamed of being. Maybe the Order wouldn't have fallen if Qui-Gon's wisdom had been there to guide them. But it wasn't. Anakin got stuck with Obi-Wan, an inferior teacher, instead of Qui-Gon, because Qui-Gon was dead. Thus, to Vader, everything that happened to him was Qui-Gon's fault for being too weak to deal with Maul, who himself was nowhere near as powerful as Vader. Vader would hate Qui-Gon perhaps even more than Obi-Wan, for the simple fact that Qui-Gon's "weakness" resulted in him "abandoning" Anakin.

Anakin did have interesting feats as a kid that he couldn't explain. The Podracing. Only human capable of doing it.

In my mind Qui-Gon would probably know that Anakin's turn was the will of the force and therefore wouldn't reach out to him. I would love to see him speak to Obi Wan though. For me, it could be one of the greatest moments in Star Wars history.

I feel like it's more likely he communicates with Obi Wan, considering Obi Wan would need to learn how to become a force ghost from someone, and I doubt it was Yoda.

A couple of months ago, Liam Neeson was a guest on the Late Late Show with James Corden. Corden asked him if he would appear in Kenobi. Neeson said he was interested, that he would have to read the script, and that no one had approached him yet. FYI. Again, this was a few months ago.

Obi Wan has yet to accept him as Alive and a Sith. This series will confirm his suspicions. Explains why Kenobi knew about Vader in episode 4

Is there any information about what (for lack of a better phrase) "what life is like" for people such an Qui Gon or Yoda who became part of the Force when they died?

I think the concept of the force ghost was still "new" or at least new to this generation of Jedi and so I believe it took Qui-Gon a long time to learn how to communicate from beyond and that's why he never spoke to Anakin prior to him turning to the dark side. It was too late for Qui-Gon to reach out once he finally figured it out. Also Anakin as a little kid, he was still kind and innocent and wouldn't force choke or smash anything with his force abilities as a little guy.

Liam Neeson back as Qui Gon is something I have wanted to see for a long time, a long time.

I think vader in the kenobi series would sort of be like ben solo in the sequels in the way that he is a lot more emotional than angry at times. Like his anger isnt direct its just pure emotion.

I feel qui-gon will trigger a vision for Vader

He had his mother to keep him humble and kind. He wasn't cruel or angry untill the council began to isolate him and make him feel like more of a burden than a miracle that they should have uplifted and encouraged.
