We have seen a lot of flagging issues over the years, but especially this year! Today, we talk about the different issues that arise in flagging as well as possible solutions to those issues. Potential solutions range from, caution lights on the track, caution lights on the bike, only using paid flaggers and in ear comms.

I like the idea of in ear communication, then the teams could have spotters all around the tracks like in NASCAR and in other motor sports along with the AMA being able to communicate with teams and riders for red flag issues and other safety issues as well. I also think the rides would much rather have a voice in their ear that they are used to telling them that there is a wreck or giving them other race information, then watching for a flagger who may or may not be there or even in the right place or try to read a pit board while trying to make a pass on someone. As far as one-way or two-way communications, I think that would need testing from some of the top riders to see if that is an issue or not. Because like in Supercross when you are in the air at the triples, I don't think talking back is an issue considering, riders already adjust their clutches and pull tear-offs off with no issue so pushing a button and talking should not be an issue you will just have to pick area where you can respond and let your team know. This would also keep riders from having to look away from what is in front of them and always having to look off the track for flaggers as well as trying to read their pit board at speed and at times racing someone too. I do not know what the real push back here is from the AMA. The only thing I see that they do the same is they do not care about the stars of the said sport and they do not let the owners, teams or athletes have a say. I am sorry but if it was me I would put an group together consisting of all the major brands(Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, KTM, Suzuki, etc), plus other teams like Star, TLD, Pro Circuit, and all the start riders Deegan, Tomac, Jett, Hunter, Anderson, Sexton, Plessinger, Webb, Roczen) and all apparel companies and I would tell the AMA that we will not race another race till in ear communication in implemented and the payout structure is changed. I promise you that with the money that these manufacturers and teams are having to spend on their star riders if the AMA said no. They could pull all their funding from the AMA and at point start their own series. They would have all the stars and they have all the major manufacturers and If the AMA tried to continue I would not sponsor nobody for no amount until they came back to the table with an acceptable agreement and a public apology. Other than that I would let the AMA and Feld sit on a TV deal with no major brands and no stars just to show them that their time of an monopoly is over and that they are going to have to be a team player or they can take there TV deal and go do something else and Supercross and Motocross will go on with out them. There is no sense getting star rides hurt because Feld will not spend the money required to keep them safe. They did a poor job at first round of Super Moto Cross this past weekend. Feld's needs to understand that they cannot continue Supercross, Pro Motocross and Super Moto Cross if these teams and manufacturers pull out. However the teams and manufacturers can make the Supercross, Pro Motocross and Super Moto Cross races continue without Feld's.

I just don't get what's so hard about flagging an MX race. It's a small ass track FFS. For 5 years I owned and operated a UTV Endurance Racing Series in the daylight and the dark called UTV Rally Raid. We always had people on the course and we had a 12 miles forest run for 4 hours. I have since sold the racing series so I am no longer involved. We used to have 60 odd teams race our meetings. This is just such BS, get me in there I will fix this bloody mess. Mannnn, it's just not that hard, seriously. Safety is #1 100% of the time. He is lucky someone hasn't sued the balls of him yet. Waivers are worth nothing where negligence is concerned. Shoot we had people airlifted out on a few occasion and we never ever put safety second. This guy running Pro MOtocross IMHO isn't sure of what he is doing and it shows. Two professional Flaggers on every blind jump. Shouldn't AMA be releasing statements of and changes immediately.

I think that would be good. May not be a bad idea to have separate blue and yellow flaggers as well. Not sure there will be any changes though.

As the sanctioning body, the AMA have the ability to force the issue. I am sure they don't like the idea of being the sanctioning body of a dangerous racing series.

@@motofevermedia1 They should be up his arse. As a sanctioning body they are saying "Oh yeah, this is good, we are overseeing things and all is well" That is the idea of a sanctioning body. They have sanctioned the race. They are saying it is up to their standards. The AMA are asleep at the wheel on this one mate. 100%. What is does is water down any AMA sanctioned race to be one of "well I hope I don't get landed on" This makes the AMA seem very bad and unsafe. The sanctioning by the AMA means nothing to the spectators and racers when this happens. The sanctioning body should be a sign of quality no calamity. The AMA need to get their chit together as this IMHO is spoiling the name AMA. Used to b e a big deal to say, heck yeah it's an AMA sanctioned race. Right now it's meaningless. The AMA are taking damage and they need to fix it. They could easily get sued with Pro Motocross by a team, easily. I know all this as I used to use an AMA sanctioned insurance company for my races, it's a lot of money but you get the goods. Now it seems they are MIA.

Great analysis on the issue. The Pro Flaggers with more on track is the best answer. I'm an Ex-Promoter and Glen Helen National flagger. Simple

Drones hovering over the track stationary that have the different colors lights that hover right over the track even feet above where the rider would be that’s the solution
