Rowoon would never ask for exemption. He is a responsible and dutiful person and will do his best to honor the mandatory service order. He may serve in a non active duty roll to do his part to serve his country.

Yes, I agree. I believe that if an exemption comes, it will likely be from the army itself. That's what I mentioned in the video. They are aware of the delicate situation at the border. However, many fans were thinking that he wouldn't join the army, and that he might already be exempt due to his back problem. As a nurse i want to say that a herniated disc is incredibly painful. Speculation by anybody thats not a neurologist or back pain specialist is ridiculous. The human body is not like the engine of a car. Every human body is different. This condition can cause numbness in the arms and legs. Do you want him handling weapons with numb arms ? Get real. Let the doctor's all decide.

Exactly, that's what was said in the video, that he will undergo physical and psychological tests conducted by doctors, and after that it will be decided which of these modalities I explained he will fit into, or if he will be exempt. So sorry but my attempt at educating people was directed at the fans and their comments. People that were acting like he'll enlist simply because he's expected to. I was trying to educate people regarding numbness in arms and legs. As with all medical conditions they can be mild to severe. Depending on the body affected.

How about shortening the mandatory time to just 1 yr for everyone! 18 -22 months so long and that’s why so many men want to flee 😂 I don’t blame them. Patriotism can’t be forced , it has to be from the heart ♥️ willingness.

Actually, this time has been reduced, it used to be much longer! The taller the person, the more likely to have problems with the spine. It goes back to human evolution and man not made to walk totally upright etc. Rowoon is very tall so has a long spine. This is not surprising to me.

He will definitely serve but if assessed as unfit for active duty will serve a public service enlistment. Herniated discs are painful but can heal. They often reoccur if the movement that caused it continues. I had two herniated discs a few times in my last few years of working each time I needed a couple of weeks off to help heal it. As a nurse it went with a territory in some ways and it was only triggered if I did the same repetitive movement. This will all be assessed by the military medical board. I have two sons who are also tall like Rowan, one even taller and they both have back issues because bending and stooping is harder on them. Rowan will do what is asked of him as most men in Korea do, whether it’s active duty or public service. It is 21 months not 22 months!

If ever Rowoon receives an exemption or is assigned to public service instead and not active duty. It will be because of what the Military decides NOT because of what Rowoon wants or requests.

Yes, the decision will be up to the military. Before enlisting, men have the opportunity to present a medical certificate if they have any comorbidities, but I also believe he won't do that. I have herniated disc and it is not even as bad as someone very active like Rowoon. It hurts like hell. Imagine being in active duty that you can't even hold a gun, run with a gun and engage in active or simulated battle.

That is correct. I personally 5 people who had spinal surgery. All of them became worse over time. I think it is called Adjacent Segment Disease, wherein other vetebrae will soon follow to be damaged. Which will require further surgeries. He and the military would not want an initial surgery of even additional surgeries due to Adjacent Segment Disease.

I will not worry about his back. Whatever issues he had with the back were most likely resolved because he is doing action and is pretty physical on some of his shows. This will not exempt him from military but you never know. I think he should focus on his acting career, I don’t think can handle him going away for 2 years 😢

His action scenes are just choreography/dance moves. Sometimes, moving is not the cause of herniated dics. I have the same problem. There are certain actions that make the discs worst and hurt like hell. It depends on the patient and how their body reacts. Believe me actors are pampered when it comes to action scenes. The production company does not want to hurt their investment and do not want to file an insurance claim against their star.

No, why should he be! He’s an able bodied male and he must do like all the others and do his bit for his country! There’s no way he should be exempt! They tried this with BTS and it did t work! If these are the rules then he has to abide by them, just like everyone else! Rules are for all, not just the hard working everyday man!

Rowoon and BTS are not the same. BTS put Kpop in global arena. Their cultural and economic impact is why they deserve exemption. In one study, 1 in every 13 tourists came to South Korea for BTS...but seventeen's SCoups was exempted so maybe he can be... but then he shouldn't be able to do any tough action scenes in the future right because he's weak?

No... He isn’t suddenly sick... He has back pain from a long period of time... For this reason and a back injury he has to leave his idol group as he can't dance like before. Though he is recovering well and doling his acting tasks well. So may be he will be able to do his military task as well too.
