Izzy was a puzzle that Sean solved pretty early on in that fight. Dricus may be unorthodox and unpredictable, but Sean solved the puzzle of one of the greatest of all time.. i know i already commented, but...i have to add...DDP has to WIN this fight. DDP is trying to take what Sean has. he has to PROVE that he won, whateever that means. Sean can play defence and pick his shots and still walk out champ. Will Sean do that? I think no...just based on him as a fighter. But we shall see...really REALLY looking forward to this one! P.S. The shot that dropped Whittaker may have landed "just right", and Whittaker let it through by leaving himself open for it. Strickland 's defense ain't gonna be so east like that. This one is very hard to pick, but I think Sean's defense is the key to his victory. And...STILL!!!

I've been telling people about that step through blitz style, I don't think people realize the method of the madness, if Sean watched film, I would have more confidence..You don't want to back straight up against Dricus, you have to fight him like a matador, and get those angles, or hold your ground and through that elbow down the middle..Sean is usually the deceptively long fighter down the middle, but Dricus is deceptively long also, even when he doesn't step in..Dricus is the guy to smash down the middle with elbows when he steps in, providing you can avoid that initial shot..It will be interesting..Clash of the unique, unusual, uncommon pugilists..

These are the vids I love, and when you go through close fights and when you explain to people what's happening when to the untrained eye they're doing nothing or little. For me this is going the distance and Strickland takes it by split decision

Great analysis this was fun and informative. My favorite part was breaking down DDP covering distance and punching while stepping. I loved the examples and explanation. I feel DDP can use this to help get td too. If it it's just hands and jab v jab, I would lean Sean. But I think Dricus can get it done imo

I got a feeling Shawn will ether be too aggressive or be very hesitant because of all the emotions and ether way it will cost him. If I was a betting man my money would be on DDP

Baliun's definition of "rolling with punches", (which appears to be adding some hooks or overhands at the end o a combination), is very different to what I was taught by my boxing coach in high school. ie To move your head back or away from the punch to reduce its power.

this is a fantastic unbiased breakdown of 2 fighters. applause. i think this is a tough fight to call, ddp's power, seans technique. ooffff, the kinda fight i like to see and think about. torn.

First person I saw use the step through straights was John Wayne Parr back in the day and I always used it against people who pull a lot! My current coach teaches it a lot, it’s great off a hard body kick pushing someone back also! (Great in Muay Thai, not sure about the takedown vulnerability it may create in mma)

Dricus is a terrible match up for Strickland. If Sean swarms him on the fence, which is likely cause ddp likes to shell up to the fence often, then Dricus will take his head off like he did to Trevin Giles. And his step through punches will 100% land on Strickland who isn’t the most mobile. Plus the wrestling advantage. I can’t see Sean winning this one :(

I feel like DPPs weakness could be getting clipped while blitzing, similar to how forrest blitzed anderson and walked into that short punch. I dont know if sean can back out of danger and land that precise of a shot tho. But i still got sean by split dec.

5:56 unless I'm mistaken, DDP looks like he's throwing crosses as he steps, like Machida used to do. I bring it up just it it's a much more stable stance, with the back leg providing power to the punches and driving the motion, rather than a step-through with the front leg

His back leg is always supporting his punch. If he was stepping with the same side, his punch would have no supporting structure behind it as the foot would be in mid air. Like isn't that why boxers keep their strong side on their back foot. So their shoulders hips and legs all lend support to their strong hand. Unless I am missing something myself, happy to be corrected if so.

My heart wants to say that Sean out manoeuvres ddp until he starts to gas out and then lays on a peppering of strikes for tko, but my gut feels like it might end up like his fight with Alex P and one bomb comes through and ends it there

I think Sean is gonna repeat what he did with Izzy to DDP. Sean isn't the best, but his style is a really good counter for risky non conventional fighters. Izzy, is a counter puncher who relies on his ability to not get hit, and it failed against Sean. DDP will likely bull charge a lot in the first round, and if Sean can weather it he'll eat him up with traditional boxing. I think the only way for DDP to be successful is if he's gonna wrestle aswell and so Sean has to be weary of take downs.

Not that I bet... but my money is on DDP... Sean did great vs a Timid Izzy...but DDP dominated Whittaker, with power , takedowns and pressure...more options for DDP to win in my opinion.
