I also like old things, I have items that are trash for some, but for me they are precious. In my opinion, despising the past is the worst thing to do, because it was from it that the future was created, without VHS or Betamax we wouldn't have anything like what we have today in audio visual. This batch of VHSc is very nostalgic and has enormous value for the owner of the tapes, it immortalized moments that can never be repeated.

Hang in there Sean. Back in the 2000s when I got my first PC CD writer I bought TDK writable CDs and burned both data as well as music. Never had any issues with them. I did have a smaller spindle with discs that my PC didn't like. My Best PC disc writer was my old eMachines XP machine and it had buffer under run protection which my first writer didn't and I made lots of coasters and frisbees and mythbusters style shattered discs.

TDK Type II/CrO2 was my go-to cassette for recording for much of the 90s. Cool to see you so excited about the sign! I would be excited too!

Wow! That's a lot of VHS-C! Well, since VHS-C only records about 20 min of video each, no wonder! LOL VHS-C was such a horrible format. TDK and Maxell really rocked back in the day. But Maxell had the best promotion with the speaker blasting the guy in the chair and the lamp stand. That's a great sign!

I have a 40-minute VHS-C tape that can record up to 2 hours in EP mode. Pretty cool tape as long as you record it in SP Mode!

@@tookeydookey No offense but all versions of VHS were horrible. VHS technology just barely functioned on its best day. But it won the format war so that's what we got stuck with.

@@RustyTheGeek Yeah I get it! It ain't the best format, digitizing VHS is not easy in the slightest. DVD is much better and thus digitizing it is just as simple as ripping the disc using DVD Shrink and converting/deinterlacing it using Handbrake, and the file looks great without having to worry about time based errors thanks to it being a digital format unlike VHS which is analog.

@@tookeydookey - Yeah, DVD was a better picture but good luck reading it after 10-15 years, esp if the disc was never finalized, the disc wasn't stored properly or was exposed to light. Unfortunately, all of these old formats have serious drawbacks. My personal favorite back in the day was 8mm and while it can be a challenge 30 years later, so far all of mine have held up very well. Knock on wood, I'm still getting through them.

That's how it starts. Next thing ya know you got a JVC neon light, Kodak lava lamp, Polaroid ceiling fan, Maxell coffee cups and a Sony Betamax spring jacket. Those adapters used to be easy to find in thrift stores up here in Ontario. Usually for a buck or two. But i haven't seen one since the late 90's or so.

I wish we could get a shot of how the counter looks from the customer perspective. That shelf with the tapes looks so welcoming. Edit: Looks like we do get a view of it 5 mins in. Cool aesthetic!!

I commented on here before because I use to repair lots of VCRs. Just wanted to say you got a nice setup and must of cost a bit. Don’t know why you get haters on here. I know you said you don’t use TBC,etc but you get the job done and also your VCRs might have a TBC or digital stabiliser in them. Anyway nice job, great setup and nice gear. Hope you get lots of work to keep you busy.

Ohh man.. My folks used to have a bunch of these. Various stuff from over the years. But the main thing I miss was the old stupid movies we all made in HS! So much nonsense LOL. Too bad they threw them away in a major purge before digitizing these was really possible

is there any benefit to playing through vhs-c tapes in a vcr (with an adapter) rather than feeding the signal from a camera? curious vhs-c adapters are not that cheap nowadays, i wonder if you use them because its more convenient for your setup

All the cool kids just transplant the tape ribbon onto full size reels in a standard VHS cassette and play it that way. Just kidding. But you could.

I used to use cameras!! I still have like 5 vhsc cameras that still work great!

But vhs can just be rehoused and put in a vcr without adapter and then you can do track and audio adjustments easily.
