Organizations like Project Beauty Share are so important. People think that makeup is simply ornamental, and preference. It is, to a certain degree. However, SO many jobs out there require women to wear makeup, its unspoken, but rest assured, it is required. Its the same with bras. Its sad, but true. Years ago, I left an abusive relationship. I was staying with my mentally/emotionally abusive parents, trying to start over with no where else to go. I literally had nothing but the clothes I wore when I left. My stepmom would allow me to use some of her makeup so I could look presentable when looking for work. So, I went to a womens shelter, and explained my predicament. They gave me a foundation, eyebrow pencil, mascara, lipstick, blush, and an eyeliner. They fully understood why I needed those things. Here I am years later, in a beautiful relationship, a lovely home, I'm happy. But I couldnt have made it here without the help I was given all those years ago.
@coffeegirl18
@coffeegirl18 11 месяцев назад
I second that. I volunteered at a women's shelter for a large part of my high school community hours (Canadian high school requirement) and I mainly organized all the beauty and skincare donations coming in. I also trained to work with kids that were there; generally just keeping an eye on them and they mainly watched cartoons/ played quietly. The shelter I was helping at also had long term housing available and they actually had a small separate batch of townhouses at low rent rates. I wish there was something like it for my nana when she was young because her life would've been significantly different (my grandpa was not a nice guy).

Menstrual cups are a GAME CHANGER! I haven’t bought tampons in over 10yrs now. It does take a little bit to figure out the best way to get it in and out but once you get it down it’s so nice! I’ve never leaked through it either. So it’s nice to have the peace of mind! I hope you love it. Loved this long vlog ❤ that was amazing to donate all your makeup. You are so kind! I never comment (silent viewer here) but I will PREACH about menstrual cups! I have been using mine for seven years and it has made such a huge difference for me. I will never return to tampons or pads. I used to have a very heavy period and constantly worried (with good reason) about leaks. Now I don't have that concern. It's truly been life changing! I hope you enjoy. There can be a short learning curve with cups, but once you get your preferred fold down, it's smooth sailing. I find cups cleaner than tampons and better for the environment and my wallet. Love your videos, Taylor!

@stickysteph 11 месяцев назад
@@juliewells4282 I use the June cup because it's really cheap. I've also used the Flex cup which was more expensive. The June cup is softer and more comfortable in my opinion. Flex was very stiff, but it does have like a loop to grab when taking it out which I think is good for people trying it out who might be scared. If you go with the June cup, try both sizes. Both brands have worked great though, it really is just personal preference. If you can afford it, try a couple different brands!

I’ve been using cups for 10+ years. I usually change during showers and will take two showers during my cycle. If you have a heavy flow, I recommend using period underwear as back up. Or if you sneeze heavy too. As someone who uses white sheets, this combo has been a blessing. One more thing, there are many different styles of cups. If one doesn’t work, might be good to try another. I’ve been using a diva cup since forever. Once I completely forgot to pack it when traveling. I bought the salt brand at target. I had the HARDEST time removing it, and I am an experienced user. I couldn’t get it out, despite all sorts of yoga poses, breathing and pushing my wrist joints and fingers past known limits. Once it was finally out, I threw it away and bought another diva cup.

Menstrual cups have been a game changer for me, though it took a long time to find my "Goldilocks" cup. I use the Merula cup which is perfect for my tilted cervix and heavy flows due to its fishbowl shape. I could never get tampons to work for me as even the most super-sized ones would leak. To sterilize my cup, I put it in a special sterilizing container filled with water and heat in the microwave for 5 minutes. I also like to wear period panties with sewn-in pads as backup for my cup. My favorite period panties are the Mool brand as they are so incredibly soft and not too bulky and yet absorb even the heaviest of flows.

I’ve been using menstrual cups for 4 years, and I’ve used the Saalt cup for 3 of those years. I love it! It has been a real game changer for my period. It’s simplified it so that I just use the one product. It’s the most comfortable cup I’ve used. I cut the tail off of mine because those always bother me. I wash it thoroughly with the Saalt cup wash in the morning and evening, with a few rinses throughout the day as needed. I have not gone back to any other product and it’s saved me so much money! My period still sucks because cramps, but the cup makes it more manageable.

Taylor, for underarm odor I saw Dr Dray recommending washing the underarms with a standard acne wash with 2% salicylic acid at night before bed. She said the bacteria that cause the odor is the same bacteria that causes acne. People normally sweat during the night and the bacteria grows while you sleep. Doing the underarm wash before bed will help curtail that bacteria growth. My husband says it’s working for him. He still uses an antiperspirant in the morning.

I've loved it since I was a kid and even still at 37. Your collection was seriously impressive, but the move to donate all of it is even more impressive. Sincerely, hats off to you.✨

Taylor, I literally GASPED when Lumene CC-cream popped up on my screen 😆 It is a finnish brand, the same Sini (from your Barcelona transformation video) talked about!! The Lumene CC-cream is a holy grail of mine and others. I know girlies who swear by it and refuse to wear anything else 😆🩷 I dont know why they dont market their makeup more towards the US! You’d also love the Natural Glow foundation from Lumene, I just know it!

Switching to the cup was one of the best decisions I ever made, truly life changing as I am never going back. I’ve tried so many cuz they’re cheap on Amazon and I put one in every purse..my favorite has been the June cup. That with their period underwear is a winning combo.

I use the Lily menstrual cup and have for 5+ years and I love it. I tried a few different ones and prefer the Lily because it has a loop on the bottom which is easier to grab onto when removing and it collapses into a little round disc for easy storage. I love how it is travel friendly…I don’t need to carry a bunch of tampons and I love how there is no waste plus much less expensive! The Lily collapsing and storing in a small little container makes it perfect because you can put it in your pocket when you are unsure if you need it etc.

Taylor, I feel ya. Ive moved around since the early 90’s, place to place and although i dont have tons of makeup, i have bought and donated when I've moved from state to state, including Alaska and the Virgin Islands. I donated clothes, housewares, electronics, appliances to mostly Goodwill. It is very freeing, and I've never been one of those women who has tons of clothing because I always wind up wearing the same clothing that I am most comfortable with. I have recently did that again, and am going to sell my car soon as well. I get panic attacks driving on freeways, so now I use the bus or train to get where im going (don't fly unless its the only way to get somewhere). I like having done this for so long, and don’t feel tied to possessions, so I get where you're coming from. It’s great to have what you need and your favorite things and not too much extra. 💕

I’ve used menstrual disks for almost 20 years! They are really the best. If that cup doesn’t work for you try the disks or a different brand cup. Either are way better for so many reasons. I don’t understand why anyone uses toxic tampons or pads anymore and why doctors aren’t recommending disks or cups. I use disposable gloves to remove when heavy flow. Just flip inside out as you remove so no mess at all!

So you are still using a disposable product that won't break down which is defeating the point of the reusable product

Menstrual cups are so, so worth the time it takes to learn how to use them. They reduced my cramps, my period seems to last less time, I feel less gross. There is a learning curve, and you have to find the one that best fits your body… but once you have, it’s a game changer!

I started using 100% organic cotton tampons and liners over 5yrs ago and that was a huge game changer for my cramps. Less "my uterus wants to be it's own person and separate from my body" to more manageable. I can actually use midol now with my cramps, it never touched the pain before.

I am a huge fan of menstrual cups. I’ve been using them for 8 years now and would never go back to pads or tampons. I’ve used the Lily cup compact in the past which is great to pop in your handbag as it folds right down. I now use the pink saalt cup which I love! The blue one was a bit too stiff for me so changed to the pink one which is softer.

Period cup. I absolutely love mine and have been using them for like 5 years now and will never go back. It is so much more convenient than tampons but on my first two days I do have to empty it every 6ish hours. I don’t know if it’s a placebo effect but I also feel less bloated and a reduction in the intensity of my cramps. I will say that there is definitely a learning curve so it will take a bit of time to get good at using. One of the best tips I’ve heard came from Sam Ravendahl’s deep dive on them, practice when you don’t have your period or anywhere to go - that way you get used to it without the panic of “am I leaking?”. Honestly watch her whole video on them, it’s really good 😊

Menstrual cups have changed my life lol. It was a learning curve at first but now I’m obsessed. Love that I can keep it in for an entire work day and don’t have to think about it. I feel more connected to my cycle because I can visually see changes in flow, changes in colour month to month, etc. The cost savings AND good for the environment. Win win win!

I’ve been using the salt cup for about 8 months now and all I have to say is, don’t give up on it! Lol there’s definitely a learning curve to it, like once you apply it just go around with your finger to make sure that none of the sides are bent. It also makes having longer nails a bit harder since I did pinch myself if I wasn’t making sure my nails were pointing down towards the cup as I applied it. Once I got the hang of it I realized I’m never going back to tampons

Yass to the cup!! I use the exact same one and I love it! Feels so good not to have the sting like tampons do! It takes a bit to get use to getting it right so it doesn't leak as well as the whole changing it. Though, if you have heavy flow days you will need to change it sooner.

For the menstrual cup: I used a menstrual cup for 2 years and I liked it to an extent. When I had it in properly it was great, but it was a guessing game for me when inserting it if it was in right or if I missed my cervix. I think at certain stages your cervix can move, so what worked one cycle for me wouldn't work on others. I tried to locate my cervix before inserting it, but I'd still get it wrong sometimes. I ended up wearing period underwear as a backup because I would leak often. I also noticed that my cramps got worse sometimes compared to before using the cup. My period can be very heavy at times, so on those days I definitely had to change it way before the 12 hour mark, but that was still much better than changing a tampon every 2 hours. I ended up switching to menstrual discs about a year ago and I find that it works a lot better with my body than cups. Since there is no suction, the cramps that I experienced with the cup disappeared. I also leak way less, and discs generally have a slightly larger capacity, so on heavy days I can keep them in a little longer.

I LOVE my salt menstral cup! I have that small size and it was perfect for getting started. I will never go back to tampons or pads. 1) it’s easier to leave in longer and not have to worry 2) i feel like i bleed less?? 3) my cramps disappeared (though i will admit that i didnt have bad ones to begin with) and 4) i feel way more comfortable with my body using it and knowing my anatomy. I was a swimmer for 12 years and it was a PAIN…I wish I had tried it sooner! Also, it takes a bit of getting used to it, but it’s seamless for me now! There is a brand on instagram that is selling a menstral cup applicator like a tampon inserter!

For 2 decades I used Diva Cup, which saved me thousands having PCOS, Endo and fibroids. It's awkward for the first several months. But then you get used to it and the hang of it. I could never wear tampons, so it was a lifesaver. As for the egg, cottage cheese and mustard mix, definitely trying it. Also, you're not alone with the nausea cut off sensation with eggs. It's real and it doesn't play. So I only eat 0-2 per day. Loved your vlog and thanks for all the updates! ❤ 🤗

I totally agree that the odor control with Lume is fantastic, and I had the same idea to layer. I use the Lume cream when I first get out of the shower. Then once it sinks in, I put my antiperspirant on top. I usually have similar scents (like the powder scented Lume with a powder scented antiperspirant), but I also have some unscented antiperspirant for the other Lume scents that I can't match or mix well with another scent.
