@@kaotiqx That does make sense though. Atreus develops an ego after learning he's a god, and he has anger problems. Him becoming like that did have build up and made sense for it to get to that point.

@@kaotiqx In part 7 1:34:48 Atreus says "I wish i'd known i was a god in alfheim, i wouldnt have felt so bad about killing the elves" Atreus says things like that and slowly develops the mentality that gods are better than everything else. Since he had just learned he's a god, the lessons Kratos gave him probably went over his head. Atreus could have also thought that the lessons were given to him as a human not a god, so they don't matter anymore.

im actually pretty okay with that, im still in love with what this game already is, but I hope in the next game we might get to fight it, or its battles increase in quality overall

It's not as much asking for help as it is a dying soldier praying to his patron deity, and praying to a deity is way different from asking someone for help face to face - Kratos hadn't met a god at that point in life, so it was legitimately just a dying man's desperate prayer

Oh lets not pretend....All you guys are so henpecked and made to be guilty for your own nature that you are doing this whole "Kratos has grown" thing...Hes STILL ripping things to shreds....Including gods...He killed Baldr in a SECOND! He spent the ENTIRE franchise mad with grief and guilt over his family....He held the hand of the Oracle as she died....He helped Pandora....He was never totally without remorse or feeling...Hes just a man of the times and of his culture....and chronic PTSD.

@@LusciousTwinkle He killed Baldur to protect Freya, younger Kratos would've just watched, just like he watched a lot of people die without bothering to help (the ship captain, several people in Athens, and Olympia, the innocents in all of the cities he destroyed as God of War) He does tear his foes apart still, but that's only when gets especially angry, and even then it's more tame than how he used to rip them apart. The most brutal deat animation is the one where he rips the Wulvers' jaws out, the rest aren't that bad. And yes he broke Baldur's neck, he also jammed his axe into Magni's skull, but compare that to how he used to kill gods. He ripped out Hades' soul, tore off Helios' head with his bare hands, cut off Hermes' legs, impaled Hephaestus on his own anvil while he was being electrocuted, disembowled Cronus, and beat Zeus to a bloody pulp. He did break Poseidon's neck... after beating him, and gouging his eyes out. Kratos went out of his way to make their deaths as brutal and painful as possible. Compared to all of that, Baldur getting his neck broke, and Magni getting an axe lodged into his face is nothing. Yes he did hold the oracle's hand, because he hadn’t lost his humanity yet. He DID however just stood there as the oracle of Athens died ten years later without a bit of empathy for her pain,(and before you say, "he saved her earlier " he only saved her because he needed information on how to kill Ares, after that she was no use to him) after ten years of his curse had turned his heart to stone. He helped Pandora for only two reasons: he saw her as a replacement for Calliope, and because he thought he needed her to kill Zeus. When she asked him for help before he knew who she was, he blew her off. Then, while trying to save her from the Flame of Olympus, he let her die after Zeus insulted him, giving into his rage, and completely forgetting about her until after she died. Also what about all of the innocent people he killed for basically being in the wrong place at the wrong time? The Ship Captain, the soldier in the cage in the original GoW, the dude trapped in the burning building in Ghost of Sparta, the Argonaut, Poseidon's Princess, etc. All of them were killed by Kratos just so his life was a little easier. He could've taken the key after rescuing the captain, he could've found a way to weigh down the pressure plate without squashing some poor guy first, he could've found a way to Jason after helping the guy begging him for help, he could've found another way to open the gates without jamming up the gears with an innocent girl's body. As for the soldier...well he could've at least expressed some remorse for having to burn him to death instead of smiling about it. Yes Kratos did have empathy, before years of grief, anger, and betrayal nearly killed what little he had. By the time of God of War III, which is the version of Kratos everyone compares this one to, he was exactly what everyone thought he was: a rage-filled, psychotic, vengeance obsessed monster. He only cared about his revenge, nothing else. He killed thousands of inoccent people, indirectly by unleashing floods and disease, and directly by slaughtering anyone who caused him the tiniest inconvenience, just to get revenge on one God, and didn't show the slightest remorse until after he killed Zeus. He was a man of the times, one whose PTSD turned into a monster that destroyed an entire mythological world. Saying that he was always as merciful as he is now, or he is still as ruthless as he was back then isn't just incorrect, it's proof that you didn't pay any attention to Kratos' personality and actions either in the old games or in this one. The whole point of his character back then was that he was a man made a monster by his actions, and the actions of others. Now his character has changed into one tha knows while he will never truly escape from the monster he once was, he's still trying to be better. And more importantly, he's trying to stop Atreus from becoming that same monster as well. It's you, who's letting their love of the older games blind them to what the new one is trying to do, who's pretending.

Plus, for all his rage and bluster against the Gods, he himself IS a God, and the only person he can ask for help is a Goddess. He has to try and bridge the gap in order to save his son, which he does. Kratos has matured so much, that he is willing to beg someone he hates simply for who they are, to save his boy. THAT is what I think truly shows how much Kratos has changed, and how much he wants to be a good father.

And the enslavement was just a prelude to all of the death, loss, and betrayal that would come after. Sean knows, he knows how big of a moment this is, and it’s great

Probably the first time he was really desperate on the surface in a long time because all his life, he be aggressive and never care about anything or anyone

The Blades of Chaos were forged in the Foulest depths of the Underworld by Ares himself. The blades work in Hel because they weren’t made in Scandinavia, they are from another place entirely. the blades are imbued with fire from another realm with foreign material that doesn’t exist in Scandinavia that’s why the blades are able to create flames. Also both kratos and the blades are tied to each other, he threw the blades off a cliff and a wind blows them up back to his feet, he tried to dump them in the ocean but the ocean itself rejected them and destroyed his boat. He washed up ashore with the blades next to him, and that’s when he figured out he couldn’t get rid of them so he stashed them under his house hoping to never use them again. Thats why they are in Scandinavia in the first place, but as for how he got them I don’t know. Answering a few questions: Kratos got the blades of chaos off his arms when he killed ares, since Ares was the one to Create and curse kratos with the blades. The blades don’t harm baldur because Freya asked everything in the nine realms not to harm baldur and everything said yes, but she didn’t ask mistletoe because it was innocent. And When Freya Casted that spell on Baldur he gained the ‘Curse’ of Invulnerability meaning he can’t be Damaged and in Mimir’s words “Baldur is blessed with invulnerability to all threats, physical or magical.” And mistletoe was the only thing that could break the curse so that’s why when the curse is broken he could actually be damaged. Cory has said that each mythology is like it’s own universe, just separated by time and geography. And Freya didn’t dump him in magical juice, she simply casted a spell that turned out to be a curse.

I think what happened there was that Kratos's hatred for Athena changed the environment around him. He became so enraged by her "presence" that it literally changed the atmosphere around him. He is a God after all...

Jack’s excitement is infectious, and it’s just made so much better by him explaining exactly *why* he’s so excited. Just another reason I love watching him~

"Dishonourable to grow old" this part is very interesting. Kratos seems to dislike this, because there's a reason. In Norse Mythology, old age was dishonourable, it showed you didnt spend your life either claiming or protecting that which you wanted or was yours. Death in combat was the greatest honour. But for spartans, for the greeks, old age was VENERATED. It was considered the highest of honours to become such a well of wisdom. And among the spartans, if you could grow old as a spartan...it proved you were a warrior without equal. No army feared a spartan more than an AGED spartan...because there's a damn good reason he got to live so long, and you didn't want to be his opponent and find out.

That's not fun. The developers didn't felt the same way other franchise fan felt because they already knew the blade was in the game.

Genuinely one of the best scenes in the game. Also the fact that, with the new over-the-shoulder camera, you can see sort of what Kratos sees when he uses the blades. There’s nothing but fire and chains making it incredibly to see what you’re doing much less see the enemies. The switch from these to the single-target axe shows so much character growth simply in the way he fights. 10/10 story

It’s a neat juxtaposition with the weapons. The leviathan axe is ice, a symbol of Kratos’ new life in this land. And the Blades are fire and a symbol of Kratos’ Greek past. Yet he uses both weapons for his own goals now

Andrei Preoteasa yeah but Hades gets escaped from over and over again by regular people in Greek mythology. At the very least they get close. I don’t know as much about Hel but if the magic adept wife of Odin says “hey, you go there you’re not coming back ever” I trust her. At the very least if it does happen it would be a story event, not a side quest

I only just noticed it the first time since there was a mention that Kratos told Atreus to never go down there.

An also when a piece of cloth fell from his arm in the beginning he looked at it the same way he looked at his forearms when he gets the blades a chaos.

Well, not specifically "No", but rather "No, I don't think so." because he's.. genuinely unsure of what Atreus can do. In the boat ride, Kratos even mentions that he has no idea what Atreus' powers are, and Mimir makes mention of how every god is unique so there's no clear way of knowing yet.
