Thank you so much! Working on a neuro floor, it never ceases to amaze me how many people come into the ER with the same story. "My left side has been flaccid and numb for three weeks, but I really came in for this 10/10 headache." And unfortunately, that's exactly what we can treat at this point, but you came to the right place to be filtered into assisted living or a SNF.
I had a stroke at the beginning of the year (2018) after being hospitalized for Takotsubo cardiomyopathy. I had developed a 2.5x2.0 cm clot in the left ventricle. I can laugh at this now because I was trying to tell my husband "I'm having a stroke" and I couldn't say the word. It came out "skroke" and then every answer after that and in the ER was "I'm okay." Fast acting from my husband along with 10mg Coumadin with 90mg Lovenox saved my life. P.S. I've been an LPN for 19 years. My experience gave me a better understanding how CVA patients feel.
I had a small brain stem stroke last October and it caused me to black out at the wheel. Also had a half dozen mini strokes a few months ago. I'm 26. I love this video. It will save lives. Everyone needs to know the risks and hopefully doctors consider strokes faster in younger patients.
I've been a nurse for a while but am new to new critical care. This song has been stuck in my head all day and I've watched it (again) to give myself a bit of a break from some critical care studying. Thank you for making some of the best musical parodies out there! This video needs to be seriously shared everywhere online.
Thank you so much for what you do! My mother had a mild stroke earlier this year. Had it not been for my wife, who is a nurse, urging her to go to the hospital, it could have been so much worse. Please keep up the great work!
I have loved all of your videos, but as a Neuro nurse of 10 years... this is by far the *BEST* video you've ever done, I can appreciate this one so much!
Oh My GOSH!! I laughed so hard!! I work in a rehab department and the word salad "Afro Fish" really got me!! TOO FREAKING funny!! I love medical humor.
Great video I had a stroke in march of this year (I am only 41) from a chiropractic adjustment and love how this teaches people about the signs my kids loved it too (12 and 6). I hope it raises awareness!
Nathan Lee: I had a mini stroke in May 2015 & was in coma for 3 weeks during which time I had brain surgery to remove a softball sized brain tumor that wasn't diagnosed for 20 years. No Joke. My Brain Team wants to send all my old Drs. back to medical school bc I've had every symptom! If you've seen the news today? I've just messaged David Cassidy asking if he's having a stroke? I've volunteered to set-up a blood donation program to help him pay medical expenses if he's needing to stay in the hospital? Balances averaged $50,000 per week when I've done this twice before (for a teacher & a racer) I'm sure David has enough Friends, Family & Fans who will help him get medically treated...
When you release videos, PSA stands for Parody Service Announcement. :) Nailed it again Doc, I'm going to share with my friends to help spread awareness, and I'm totally using it the next time we have a class on Brain Attacks.
You know what's REALLY FUN? Trying to tell a stroke from a hemiplegic migraine! This is my personal hell several times a year - trying to determine if my husband's symptoms are Ambulance Time or Imitrex Autoinjector Time. Much love to my local ER staff for never making us feel like we wasted their time for ruling out stroke when it was "just" a migraine.
I was told mine was a atypical migraine, and sent home from my dr. He was treating my migraines though, and I could see right again 6 hours later. I went into work, my er was so bad that it could be much worse.
This is another amazing one people should know! It’s vital to get TPA within 2hrs of strike. So make sure you are fast and paying attention if someone is having one or even if you think it could be or not sure. None of those symptoms are normal. Always check for a medical ID band too! I had a mini stroke and it’s terrifying.
awesome video! these signs are important! thought I was having a stroke a practice one day because I had nearly all those signs but thankfully it was a really bad basilar migraine episode.
Thanks for the classic stroke PSA, less than 1% have a medullary infarct, those symptoms, no one saw... lack of temperature & pain to lower extremities, contaleral (thankfully) until an MRI showed it was a stroke, and not a pinched nerve or bulging cervical disc as they thought for 40 hours.
Lol my doc showed me this when she heard i thought was stress or arm sleep and half my face lost it smile marks couldnt talk clearly i thought pain level felt was psycological or anexity so i kept calm not scare anyone questioning if i was stroking.....but effected my right side. Walked into ER whole ride to there i kept fear in check no one knew. Upon ER i told age 32 i having stroke submited into icu....not stress.... Dvt from army injury past what caused it...so age is nothing and time is everthing dont matter if got great heart or great bill heath if start show signs get help i learned .. Love this song i shared with few who now sharing it cetchy song yet so true as surivor mini stroke and mini PE. Very great awareness.
I think this is a good messenge my dad had a stroke and luckily my mom is a nurse and new what to do and called 911 and if she hadn't known he might be dead today so I think everyone should know what the signs of a stoke is wether they think it will happen to someone they know or not because this can happen to anyone.
I experience chronic recurring bells palsy, and usually suffer facial paralysis at least once a year. First time it happened i thought it was a stroke, now i'm kind of used to it, but the weird thing is if i ever had a real stroke i don't know how i would tell the difference. I guess arm weakness would be the difference? ugh to young to be so broken. at least i can laugh at ZDogg videos while learning stuff.
NymphetaminexXxGrrrl there are clear differences between Bell's Palsy and a CVA (stroke) including forehead involvement. You can Google for peace of mind, but you should hurry to the ED if any neurological changes in general.
BE FAST my only symptoms were ballance and eye (sight) loss. Permentaly dizzy and half blind now I love zdogg md but im dissapointed he went with the asa wording. I knew FAST it wasnt enough to help me 2 more letters and you can save more people
@@MandrakeFernflower No, it won't actually. Nimodipine is highly lipophilic, and something about it is unique. They tried nicardipine, another L-type CCB, which is almost as lipophilic. It successfully prevented vasospasms following SAH, but it failed to improve neurological/functional outcomes. So, how nimodipine works is an actual, genuine, total mystery.
+ZDoggMD thanks for the info. All I know about your wife is that at her dad is a doctor and thinks general lee is Chinese and sweet chicken is a major cause of diabetes, and that she gave up a lucrative career for academic radiology. Obviously also that she was crazy enough to marry you😁. Her appearance is therefore a great mystery to me as a Zdogg super fan.
Capitol job again sir! you never disappoint. Now I want to go back to shipping a diabetes PSA using Baby Bash's "Suga Suga". It practically writes itself!! Make it happen please!! ^_^
Did M.R.I make it into the song because it "fits" better? I thought C.T scans were the best Diagnosing method for strokes because it's fast and can differentiate hemorrhagic from ischemic strokes.
My husband has, at different hospitals, had both MRI and CT scans to differentiate between hemiplegic migraine and stroke. I'm not sure why the respective docs chose one over the other - I was too relieved that they weren't strokes to bother asking, at the time. :p
Generally, neurologists would prefer MRI for stroke. Ischemic stroke is easily detected on MRI, very quickly after the initial onset. (I work for a neurologist and would screen MRIs for a ischemic stroke study.)
Dammit, why can I EASILY find lyrics for any other random song I care to find, but when it comes to a song that is actually medically useful for me to know, the top 20-odd search results are the video, other songs with similar names, and sites pretending to have lyrics that actually don't? And this is like the one song where the RU-vid comments section hasn't posted the lyrics somewhere in the top 20 comments either?? I don't want to watch the song! I don't want to take that much time right now! I just want a quick overview of the symptoms I ought to have cataloged in my head in case at some point I actually need to know that in a hurry!
Lyrics are shown at the bottom of the video. But if you want them all: And I know it's probably just asleep But man, my arm is numb And I normally talk so smoothly But now I'm sounding dumb But at least I won't need botox now Cuz half my face looks young This I know (slurred speech) I'm thinking don't worry About it I'm thinking it's probably Just stress We both know I ain't got Insurance I could just go bankrupt From one M.R.I Test I can't feel my face My tongue won't move Am I stroking? Am I stroking?? Oh! I can't move my arm Man, am I screwed? Guess I'm stroking Guess I'm stroking Oh! And I know I need neurology At least some kind of scan? And I know each second matters Cuz each second I lose brain All the "word salad" I'm spittin' now Makes this hard to explain (This I know) "FISH...AFRO" (Wait, WHAT??) I'm wishing you'd hurry About it Lift my arm up and it Drifts down We both know I can't talk About it So it's up to you, girl To call 9-1-1 OOH! I can't feel my face Why does it droop? Cuz I'm stroking Cuz I'm stroking OOH! I can't move my arm Or I'd slap you (I can't move my arm) Can't you see I'm stroking? (Stroking) Ain't no joking (He can't feel his face) I can't feel my face My tongue won't move ***lyric missing on the video*** (What should we do?) (Is he stroking?) Am I stroking? (Is he stroking?) YES I'M STROKING!! (He can't move his arm) I can't move my arm, man... Am I screwed? ***lyric missing in the video*** (What should we do?) (Is he stroking?) YES I'M STROKING! (Is he stroking?) I SAID I'M STROKING! Oh! (F)acial droop, (A)rm weakness (S)peech slurry Recognize these signs could Mean stroke Though this song is trying to (Trying to) Be funny Saving brain cells isn't A joke... OOH!! I can't feel my face Why does it droop? (I can't feel my face) Cuz I'm stroking (Cuz I'm stroking) Cuz I'm stroking (Oh I'm stroking now) OOH! I can't move my arm Or I'd slap you (I can't move my arm) Can't you see I'm stroking? (YES I'M STROKING!) Ain't no joking (HELP ME I'M STROKING, GIRL!) (He can't feel his face) I can't feel my face... My tongue won't move ***lyric missing in the video*** (What should we do?) (Is he stroking?) I'm stroking, girl! (Is he stroking?) I can't move my arm ***lyric missing in the video*** (Is he stroking?) I'M STROKING! (Is he stroking?) CALL 9-1-1 RIGHT NOW Oh! (typed quickly and proofed only by myself, not responsible for errors! :P hope this helps!)
@@socialbutterfly487 I appreciate it! I always find it much easier and faster to get info from skimming a text than from watching a video or hearing an audio source -- and the text helps me determine if a video/audio source would be useful. It's weird how some people think everything should happen via video these days... just not as efficient.
Loved the video and just posted it on our FB page (facebook.com/CaregiverActionNetwork). Thanks for doing these great educational music videos. We'd like to talk with you about creating one on the overwhelming experiences of a family caregiver.
