For people that don't know, the reason why Strider has the teddy bear is to honor a Capcom employee who supposedly killed himself while making the PC Engine port of Strider. The employee liked teddy bears.

It was a critical part of Art of Fighting, thanks to how the specials worked. You needed the same energy to do specials and supers alike. Taunting removed some bar. Too low and your specials would become ultra-weak versions with no range or damage. Dan? His taunts give him bar rather than removing the enemy's.
Alpha 2 Dan has to be my favorite iteration of Dan. He's the perfect blend between his iconic jokey self, with a slight bit of his seriousness to him. Also, yeah. The taunts are LEGENDARY.
When playing the PlayStation 2 Alpha Anthology I found the ideal "display adjust" settings to be *sharpness +16* and *filter on.* The filter compensates for the CP System arcade board's output pixels not being square so that the picture doesn't shimmer when it scrolls horizontally, and the sharpness compensates for the blurring introduced by the filter.

This game is nostalgia in its purest form for me. The music, the sprites, the crazy custom combo shit definitely make Alpha 2 my favorite Street Fighter.

Man Alpha 2 is my absolute favorite SF games of all time. So many nostalgic memories of playing this one at the arcade at an old local mall and on my Saturn. Love everything about this game: the visuals, the music, the gameplay, etc. It's basically the perfect SF game to me.
Max, I really gotta say, man... I love it when you do these Legacy series. Seeing you go through games I know of but don't have major firsthand experience with - and seeing you do that in a massively enjoyable way - is freaking awesome!
To anyone who see this try this out, on Alpha 2/Gold when you do Dan's "Hishou Burai Ken" for the super finish, make sure in that super the sweep is what lands the ko and listen to the hit echoes afterward, you will not be disappointed it's so satisfying and devastating how strong he is.
Definitely my favorite game in the series. The 1st fighting game I've ever played when I was 6 lol Artstyle, music, characters, animations are all amazing.
Little fact about dan’s battle with sagat. The only reason he won was because savage threw the match in pity. He let dan win because he felt bad for him. Dan just can’t get a break.

Interesting but useless tidbit about Ken's stage: If you're playing as Ken with this stage selected, Eliza would be cheering you on instead of being mad. I think that's only in versus mode.
Man, Saturn is a gem. A GEM. How good was to play a fighting game in this console (as long as you had the 6 button joystick hahaha). I've spent hours and hours playing XvSF (simply amazing), DS and KoF... good memories...
There is no long name for Ryu,his name means dragon in Japanese and with ken his name means fist so together they are Dragon Fist,not super sure about ken's tho
The presence of Strider in the Eliza's Birthday stage becomes strange when you learn that Zeku, Guy's master, founds the Striders some time after Street Fighter V.
I never forget my first time playing alpha 2. Back than didn't see Dan from first alpha game I saw secret characters Akuma and Bison but not him. When I see him with Akuma and Bison in roster, I thought he is new powerful character and selected him. The result is I got destroyed.
I enjoyed Street Fighter Alpha 2 and I got to enjoy the game via the PlayStation 1 version. I kid you not. Plus seeing Dan finally beating Sagat was satisfying. Plus the theme is just really good. I should mention that Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold also reappeared in the Street Fighter Collection. That game contained Super Street Fighter II Turbo as well. So yeah, that's how I first knew about Alpha 2 Gold. Plus... playable Cammy, Evil Ryu, SF2 Chun Li and Shin Akuma.

I always used to think the Sega Saturn version was pixel perfect (load times notwithstanding), but I got to say, all the sound effects were compressed to hell!

The street fighter alpha opening screen and character selection music remind me of the saturday mornings that I spent playing this game with my brother. Great memories...
Watching these makes me happy to understand Dan more. One of my favourite SF videos is EvilDaedslus' "How to win at SF4 forever" vid about trolling with Dan, so I'm very interested to see how this pans out.
I still remember how good it felt to win a match with a Super Perfect Level 3 Cheese Icon in Alpha 2. I bet everyone whom has played fighting games, back in the arcade era, has had at least a day when they were totally unbeatable and just collected salty token after salty token from the irate people whom used to beat them over and over. For me, it was in the SF2 vanilla era... I was just strolling around, wasting time... I went to a bowling alley, put a quarter, chose Ryu just because and began playing. Then a guy with his GF came, put a quarter and the carnage began... For some reason, I was able to trade everytime he went for a throw with a light hurricane kick. Didn't fall for cheap Guile low mid kicks and countered with light low kicks so he could not follow up with booms but I could with hadokens. He went for cheap grabs with Blanka and ate hurricane instead. Went for sack throws and got jump back heavy kicked instead (for those who might not know, you can literally punish sack throw attempts in vanilla SF2 by landing the jumping kicks a bit deep and then holding the joystick in a jump away position and hitting kick the moment you _"land"_ . Requires a bit of timing and your opponent going for sack. Hilarious how they bitch and complain about it when executed right). Etc... Etc... He literally wasted the equivalent of, at the time, $15 USD in quarters and not once could he beat me. The guy didn't rant, curse or exhibit salt, but anyone could see he was pissed. His GF literally began chuckling each time he went for cheap tactics and got punished instead. It all ended with the dude wasting a lot of time and money, making his GF struggle not to laugh and him leaving the place absolutely fuming. But for me... It was tuesday...
They did the same thing with Dhalsim in X-Men vs Street Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter. The teleport recovery made some Dhalsim only infinites with certain characters
You know Alpha 2 Gold was available in in the arcades, but it was called "Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha" (Asia ROM) and gameplay was all in English text.

A cool small thing is that if you finish the sagat fight with hissho burai ken, he gets a special line on the last hit. Don't Remamber exactly if it was just OYAJIII again or if it's a labored "i did it father"
You didn't hear it from me, but uh.... Dan is going to be the primary antagonist of SF6. Having been left alone to perfect his style and truly harness the Dark Hadou, he now seeks revenge on all of those that told him he wasn't good enough, wasn't worth training, those who wronged him and failed him, his father, and his Dojo.
Fun fact: Dan's Koryuken would flash on occasion during startup. When it did, it was COMPLETELY invincible! However, given the fact that it was random af, there was no way to rely on it in a real match. Hilarity🤣🤣
