Liam Neeson essentially playing the Reaper in the form of a mortician who can talk to dead people is a really cool concept. He's got a really interesting aura of age and experience for the role. The northern Irish *no offense* depressed temperament fits the vibe of an ancient being that's tired of his morbid job quite well.
This is not the first concept of this. The first couple "Final Destinations" had the reaper as a mortician. Ironically it was the same actor who played CandyMan.

@@user-jh9hd2lw9y she thinks she’s not dead and liams character continues to try and convince her otherwise as he takes on a kid apprentice making him think he can speak to the dead to when in hindsight it’s left up to speculation if she dead or not but the boyfriend ends with the same fate at the end
Him: “I help make the transition easier” Also him: “this is your death certificate” 💀 Also also him: “you are a corpse anna.. your funeral is in 2 days.. just die and leave me the duck alone for duck sake!” Jeeez.. how assuring and very helping
The plot twist in this movie was quite obvious but same time it still caught me off guard cause I just never know what to really expect from Liam 🖤 Most amazing actor.
@@Iris.611 Basically the woman was a teacher who was in a horrible car cash and she wakes up in the morgue, Liam the funeral director is convincing her she is not alive and transitioning to the spirit world but she believes she is alive, cause she breathing and everything... (Spoiler) Which she actually was, Liam was basically a hidden serial killer pretending to be like a medium that can speak to the dead, now he have actually prepped funerals for literal dead people but he gave off this impression he was so obsessed with death that he gladly drugged and buried people alive. A little boy caught him in the act but he manipulated that little boy into thinking the little boy as well could speak to the dead. But at the ending he also showed his real intentions later on when he told the boy that they're not dead, they lived their life as if they were dead so he felt obligated to do that madness.. It's safe to say he is prepping that little boy into a little sociopath though to continue the legacy. Hopefully I explained it good enough, I haven't seen the movie in a bit. 🖤

He's a mortician. Morticians prepare bodies. But somehow hearing him say "Oh you all say the same things!" sounds hilarious. Unfortunately to a ghost this would still just freak them the fuck out because of a little thing called modesty. 😆
Every single dead body in the hospital gets undressed to prepare them for burial/cremation/or to have their organ removed. I thought this was common knowledge.
Im watching a lot more movies because of YT SHORTS. This one is tense! Script had potential but it was kind of wasted. It could do with a better director and actors. Liam was the best here, without a doubt.
Yet people in India experience Indian afterlife. So either we all get our own personal afterlife and can experience it any way we like, or it’s a delusion.
Spoilers for the movie: Anna actually wasn’t dead and later in the movie she figures it out cause she sees fog from her breath on the mirror the man gave her later in the movie but the man sees she realised and sedated her/paralyses her and she gets buried alive
I used to have nightmares that I died and I would start to panic in my dream and try to "reality check" myself to see if I was just dreaming ...if I could toss something in the air and it hovered, didn't obey gravity, then I would know I was asleep and dreaming and not dead...I've been murdered in my dreams...trying to find an object to toss was difficult though too...
She wasn't dead, guy was just a professional gaslighter. If you pay close attention you can see the cut on her forhead is healing over the course of the movie. That and other hints

Whats fucked up is she really wasnt dead and he is the one that hit her. After the funeral the boyfriend realizes she isnt dead and flips out but i think gets convinced she is dead so he drinks and drives and the guy ends up doing the same thing to him but he actually tortures the guy while the girl gets buried alive.

For someone who purports to help people make the transition between life and death, he doesn't really seem to give a shit about how traumatic dying is for someone who's only ever known what it's like to be alive.
I mean, who wouldn't snap if every day you had to listen to corpses sob that they are not dead and etc etc. It's probably one of the fastest tickets to insanity. One year of fast food absolutely killed my jolly outlook on humanity and borderline everything pretty fast, and this is def. Way worse lol.

But she's alive the whole time until she is buried alive

He kidnaps his victims from accident scenes or when they are presumed dead, and then he injects them with a paralysis agent so they're buried alive. The girl here is not dead, he has no power, he's a serial killer mortician. In the end he gets what he wants and buries this one alive. He keeps photos of all his victims and it's shown he has countless. He buries the live ones with their eyes open and the dead ones closed. The victims die from being buried alive and unable to move
Why does everyone think this? They purposely made it slightly ambiguous so to make it more psychologically thrilling, but in the directors own words, if you 100% think he was lying, you misunderstood the movie. If you paid attention to everything, at the end you should be about 75% of the way sure that she was dead from the start, especially with the little kid who also has powers, but they said they wanted to give the slightest and faintest idea that she was alive to make it creepier. Everyone commenting that he actually was a killer, obviously didn't get the movie or the directors intentions at all
@the-pgeon he didn't torture him, the guy was put on the table just like she was. Basically, throughout the film, he talks to 5 dead people like this. Each one thinks they're still alive. Each one looks around and sees him talking to no one. The girls boyfriend killed himself after her funeral, and then ended up in the morgue.

This isn't true, i watched the movie years ago and they make you think that's the case, until the very end when you find out she was actually dead on impact and that he legitimately can talk to dead people, as seen when he's talking to a little kid and his dead grandmother. Even the director said that they wanted you to think he was a psychopath until the last minute of the movie when you find out he's in the right the whole time

The director said that you're mostly supposed to feel like she was dead, especially with everything happening with the little kid, but they purposely add enough in where you're skeptical about it all. They said it would make the movie more enticing if you didn't know if he was a killer, you just had the smallest suspicion that he was. That's what I was trying to say but I think i forgot to say the last part. He's the good guy, but you have the slight understanding that he probably is holding her hostage, but all the facts line up that he's most likely just a good person, but the very small indications are supposed to mess with you more than them just implying it
Yeah… at the risk of sounding crazy (and I fully acknowledge that my experience may be my own mind trying to deal with something) I am a psychopomp which means that I assist spirits in their journey to the afterworlds animals tend to accept their passing much easier and more readily accepting their fate while human spirits clutch on harder making it difficult for them to pass on sometimes but like yelling doesn’t help. inform them, acknowledge their feelings/presence, reassure them and they usually go after that. Often just letting them know that you know they’re there at all can help if they’ve stuck around for a while. And no ‘ghosts’ don’t hurt people and can’t unless the people give them their own power by focusing on the spirit too much, agonizing over it lends your power to the spirit and makes it act irrationally, they’re dead they don’t need your power. If you’re not one who can help them pass on to the netherworld then ignore them and they’ll eventually leave you alone.
Imagine being able to talk to dead people tho this honestly would probably be the best job the have for your skill or the worst if your not comfortable with it

No not weird I haven't seen the movie but I think maybe you have ADHD it's the first and only thing I'm allowed to see and hear are the anomalies never seen the movie but I don't think she's really dead
Maybe he speaks with those on the middle ground between life and death, on the purgatory, spirits unaware of their own passing or reluctant to such situation
If I were to respond to that question, honestly i would say no, i can barely keep secrets, i ruined multiple friendships over several different reasons, i made beefs either by accident such as accidentally hitting someone with volleyball when i was going up for the spike during P.E. class, purposeful as when my anger takes control when someone criticizes or laughs at me in a negative way, honestly i wish i was dead right now. Those people never deserved it and i just don’t think my life is worth clutching onto 😞

Fear does not exist in death. Once dead a soul wouldn't be irrational in its thoughts and it would have no chemical triggers or synapses so it can't feel anything.
Can you imagine how crowded that place would be if everyone woke up in the mortician's office and had to make the choice to move on? No one would leave. It might be an interesting series.
“Maybe you should rest now” I would have asked him why would I need to “rest” if I’m dead? Resting is for recharging your body. But I’m dead. My body, my organs etc etc don’t need to recharge. As they’re not going to recharge. Because I’m dead.
I love the scene in the grey when Liam Neson sees the man in the crashed plane out and explains it to him almost like a combination of the reaper and an angel, master class great choice for this movie.
!!Spoiler warning!! ……..……………… According to an interview with the director as shown on the film's DVD, Anna was alive, and there are many clues throughout that point to this. Just before Anna's accident, she is being tailgated by a white van that we later learn belongs to Deacon. About 60 minutes into the movie, Anna is in a room with Deacon with a mirror. She admits that she looks like a corpse, closes her eyes, and exhales. Her breath fogs up the mirror, which Deacon wipes away before she reopens her eyes. When Paul is at the police station, one of the cops mentions that a drug exists that could slow heartbeat to almost nothing and cause paralysis. When we see Deacon giving Anna an injection shortly after, the vial has the same name on it. Note that it is pointless to inject a corpse with anything because there is no blood flow and therefore no way to circulate a drug through the body. There is also the scene between Anna and Deacon where she sees her breath condensation on the handheld mirror and panics, screaming, "You lied to me!" Deacon is in fact a psychopath, who takes it upon himself to decide who gets to live. The final clue is when Deacon puts Anna's picture on his wall, and we pan out to see all of the pictures. Some of the people have eyes open, other eyes closed. Wojtowicz-Vosloo says that those whose eyes were open were, like Anna, ones who were not really dead
I never saw this movie but the first thing I thought was this guy is a serial killer, the wound in her head is not that deep and the fact that she can literally move her body means that she is not dead. And then I read the comments and I discovered that I was right all along.

I believe he's just a serial killer that plays mind games with his victims. She isn't dead at all. He gaslights them into thinking they are just so he can have his twisted fun. I forget the movie mostly but that's what it seems like. Cause her wound heals over time. The dead don't heal wounds..
I love these two (Liam Neeson and Christina Ricci), also love Justin Long too. But the movie itself has long gone from my memory. Maybe because back then my English sucks and I didn't really understand what's going on (no subtitle). Ricci's makeup is so beautiful lying there as a corpse, she's such a unique lady with unique beauty...
