I'm a big fan. Like you, we also have a Ford Expedition (although ours is Max). Our second car is Tesla. That is why I was very excited when I saw the title of the video. But I have to say, I was quite disappointed. I wished you did a little bit more homework and described what truly makes this a great family car and avoided some inaccuracies in your review. It has been few years and our kids still get super excited to get into Tesla. I appreciate some of this stuff is subjective but I will let you decide. Here is why we chose this car: 1. Safety. It would be nice to mention that this is THE safest car out there. Besides having top scores from official crash tests by regulators, there are plenty of real life examples. There was a case recently when a family plunged more than 250 feet down until their Tesla (although it was a Model Y) crashed onto rocks. Everyone survived, no life threatening injuries. Rescuers branded it a "miracle"... 2. Bioweapon defense mode. Sounds complicated, but it's simply HEPA filter for air filtration, which filters out all sorts of hazardous particles in the air, including exhaust fumes, smoke, allergens, airborne pathogens, and anything else potentially dangerous out there. Very handy when driving through smoke which happens often these days. 3. Sliding and tilting 2nd row with an installed forward facing car seat. Yes! They tilt! You praised this feature so many times when doing other car reviews, but did not mention it here (you probably didn't know it). For some reason in the video you were pressing and holding the button instead of just pressing it once. Not only does it slide and tilts, it is motorized!!! Isn't that cool?! Furthermore, you can adjust 2nd and 3rd row legroom from the driver seat (using the screen of course)! 4. Turning the child lock on/off from the driver seat! 5. You can cool and pre-heat the car (in a few minutes) from your phone - kids always get a perfect environment the moment they get in the car, 6. You do not need car keys! Your phone is your car key. When trying to pack with 2 (or in your case with 3 :-) kids, one less thing to remember is always a bonus! 7. Built-in video streaming (Netflix, RU-vid, Disney) 8. Arcade games, karaoke and much more! Honestly, it has tons of various cool and fun stuff that my 5 year old knows way better than I do. For example, he recently figured out that that infamous fart noise Tesla makes could be broadcasted through the external speaker... causing so much embarrassment for me and so much laughter for kids :-) 9. Voice command. Yes, not having physical buttons might be confusing... but only for a day or two! Trust me, after a few days, the Expedition feels like a horse carriage :-) In addition, voice commands are so easy to use, it makes up for lack of buttons. 10. Sentry mode. The car records everything happening outside of the car. You can also view it live. 11. Dog mode. You can live your pet in the car and it will keep climate control running (and also displays a message on the screen that the pet is safe) 12. Constant software updates. How many cars you reviewed become better and better with age?) 13. Autopilot.. ... I realized now the list could be endless, so I will stop right here. Please do not get my comment wrong. I appreciate how hard is to get to know a car in a short period of time you had it. All I am saying your viewers could have benefited from a bit more informative review. Thanks for understanding
Kelly, you didn't hit the button right for the carseat friendly tilt--just tap it once and the seat moves forward and tilts all at the same time for better 3rd row access and doesn't disrupt carseat placement at all
Thanks for putting together this review! Picked up one of these white on white plaids for our family of 6. Fits 4 car seats/boosters and an Uppababy double vista stroller in the trunk. Amazing engineering.
I am 6' tall, and I discovered the 7 seater has more space for me than the 6 seater configuration at the showroom. I could comfortably sit in the 3rd row (my head might hit the trunk glass during a bumpy ride) when the 2nd row is set comfortably for me. Plus, you can fold 2nd row flat in a 7-seat. I almost placed an order on the 6-seater, but I am glad I didn't in the end.
Thanks for this review! We test drove a model X and I had a lot of the same thoughts as you. I need more physical buttons, more cupholders, and actual sunshades. We also really hated the yoke steering... there is no way I would pay 1k for that feature. We were a little confused how to install a high back booster at the time because there was quite a bit of gap between the back of the booster and the actual car seat. I didn't realize at the time that this was acceptable for some carseats, and it made me a little nervous.
I have a 2017 model and the Stanley cups fit in that top cup holder, and mine have adjustable ones in the lower console too. Also golf clubs fit in the front for anyone needing those with kid strollers.
Great job Kelly! My channel is all about Tesla and families and I have 3 kiddos. Another really cool feature you may not have known about is Cabin Overheat Protection where the cabin always stays below a set temperature. Also, the interior cabin camera works like a nanny cam if you have older kids who want to play the video game features in the car. Hit me up if you ever want to collab.
Not true for "the cabin always stays below certain temperature". "KEEP CLIMATE ON" does this. From the manual: "Cabin Overheat Protection operates until 12 hours has elapsed once you exit Model X, or until the Battery energy drops below 20%, whichever comes first. Using Cabin Overheat Protection requires energy from the Battery, which may decrease range."
I have 3 car seats in my Model Y performance. You’ll need the Clek seats or something very similar in size to do that. Amazing car with incredible storage.
Thank you for this video! I really enjoyed it and I’m shocked at how useful this car actually seems with a family. I wouldn’t even look at teslas for the family before. Super cool 😊 I just really don’t like THAT level of tech, I’d appreciate some physical buttons as well but overall super cool. I’d definitely consider this car in the future. LOVE the falcon doors too!
I just sadly got rid of my model Y because the carseats did not fit. As soon as the infant carseat was placed in the car it just did not work. Even the trunk space did not work. If I did a grocery store run I could not take the family or I had to leave the stroller. The model Y was AMAZING but after having a baby it lacked convenience which made me sad.
Came here to say this! I have a Y and use the voice commands for all the quick essentials that I would normally have to reach and push a button for in a standard car. IMO a safer option that keeps eyes on the road and hands on the wheel. 🤷🏼♀️
Hi Kelly I got my BBL and it cost me 7k so obvi I need my cakes well taken care of. Does this car have comfortable seats and a good suspension? Obvi my booty deserves only the best! Thank you
@@ktube3054if they are not in boosters or car seats, yes. There are. Three seats in the second row in the 7-seat configuration. I actually wish we got the 6 seat configuration which had a space in the middle for them to pass through, making things much easier. There’s essentially no room for a strollers so this vehicle is best for older kids. If you plan on taking a trip, this vehicle will not work. There is little space for anything at all on the trunk. We keep our old suburban for this. If you are considering a Tahoe or something larger, definitely go with the other vehicle!
I think u should have did more research You can literally set it up to press the button and the glove box opens You can voice command it to be open Also make a shortcut to the screen to open It’s ok u will be happier in a ford or Kia or something
Long over due.. also write to Tesla to get a mom certified EV, needs and wants (i.e. do they need a bigger 3rd row SUV. Disappointed you didn't go into rear cargo space with 3rd row folded down.
Falcon doors messed up my mother in laws knee, crushed it when they malfunctioned. Also my Brother in laws MY18 X is always missing trim pieces, they just fall off. Wish they could get the details right, cause the powertrain is amazing.
Never knew this was a three row car? I didn't think there was even enough room for two. Please hit this car with your water cup a few times to see if it's any good.
So the Model X is more of just a status symbol. I picture myself and a few friends going to clubs in it but not being all that practical for a family. Good review.
@@MSDOGS1976 the falcon doors are certainly a lot more than a flashy feature; clearly you didn’t actually watch her review. you’re paying for unique features and the tech; and it’s a 9 second quarter mile flippin suv! But I’m sure that doesn’t matter to you given the statement 😆 Show me another suv under $250,000 that runs an even 10 second quarter mile 😉
Model X is a complete rip off. For the same price, I'd much rather have an Escalade. More room and more features and probably less expensive! Model X wouldnt be as bad, if it was a $60K car. but for $100K?, its a complete rip off and not family friendly at all. Kelly i think you should of been more honest about how this car isnt really for families. There is no way you would fit ALL the stuff a mom of 3 has in her car in that tiny thing. Its just not that big of a car.
What a response with a screen name like that. We've gone electric with our EV6, charge at home on the house solar and have a EV Blazer and EV GMC Sierra on order. We'll never go back to ICE.
