@seansu1248
@seansu1248 11 месяцев назад
Yeah but hitting a 100mph fastball isn't equal to running one yard lol
@RealChad111
@RealChad111 11 месяцев назад
@maolebron1615 it takes years to train up to hit 100 mph, most people not in the mlb barely touch 93 mph, and its still crazy hard to hit that without years of training. Pro hitters even are only 25% successful hitting anything, so predictably it's hard. It takes just a small hole and a little luck to get a yard in the NFL.
@edwardhan75
@edwardhan75 11 месяцев назад
The fallacy lies here: not a lot of pitchers throw for 100, so better argument would be 90. But even still, good players hit the ball 30% of the time. RB’s rush for an average of 3-5 yards per game. You’re asking them to do a small percentage of that.
@dan-ws2sf
@dan-ws2sf 11 месяцев назад
Everybody throws well over 90 now. It isn’t the 1970’s. Most minor leaguers throw around 94. In the MLB it’s mostly 96-97 and higher with movement. Sorry, 99% of the population ain’t hitting that, even with luck

I think in a couple more years you probably could. It's getting less and less aggressive and the players are getting slimmer and slimmer.

Forgive me if this sounds really dumb, but technically, isn’t a rush for 1 years just the o-line overpowering the d-line? It doesn’t matter who is actually holding the ball since the people actually working would be the line men.

Are we talking about averages, I'm not sure, probably not. But if we're talking about the person has the whole game just to get one yard on one play, then its not even close to being a question.

Julian is the only one with a brain. Any person with basic athletic abilties and a killer Oline could definitely rush a single yard. How high and mighty of a task do they imagine rushing a single yard is 😂😅

It depends on if you mean 1 yard per carry or just get a play for 1 yard. Cause if the oline blocks well for one play, for sure. But to average that, no chance

The average person could gain 1 yard on a carry if they played a full game. Their average yards per carry however, would be in the negatives probably

The average male is 5’9” 198lbs in America. The average person isn’t 200lbs of muscle… Yeah, no, that’s not happening. I played running back in high school and the best shape (for football) I’ve been in was 5’9” 170lbs, able to bench 225 about 15 reps (that’s the weight they use at the combine) with about a 4.49 40 time…. Maybe if I had the Chiefs line from the 90’s or San Francisco’s today and it was against the worst defense in the league. However the moment I get hit in this theoretical situation I’m gonna forget my name. Like I played in high school and only weighed 140 back then and I could take a hit and keep on playing. But those were high school kids. The 40 times of the slowest on the defense are still VEEEEEEEEEERY fast and those are very large guys. Getting hit by someone in the NFL is like getting his by a car.

The question's gotta be a whoooole lot more specific. If you're at your own 25 and it's 1st and 10, the line could probably open up a hole that most anyone could gain at least a yard off of. 4th and goal at the opponent's 1 is a COMPLETELY different story.

I hate pro athletes with a passion...ABSOLUTELY YES the average person can rush for 1 yard in the NFL!!! They are always trying to make it seem like they are above and beyond the rest of society!!! it's NOT HARD to rush for ONE YARD

Vince papale caught a 15-yard pass in the NFL and that was back in the 77, back when the NFL wasn't soft, so yeah I'm guessing the average person could now. Oh yeah and Vince papale only played one year of high school football, and didn't play a single down in college football. Then he gets onto an NFL roster when he was 30 years old. It's been done before it can be done again

What do they mean by "average person"? Are they talking like a middle aged guy with a bad back haha. If you're talking fellow 20/30 something's, still prob no but at least they would have a chance.

As a former HS football player in ND who got my world knocked out of me a few times…and knowing the average size of a ND HS football player compared to an average NFL player…I would be lucky if I don’t lose more than 8 yards and still be conscious. 😂

Bad question. Can I rush for 1 yard on any given play? Yeah. I could bust one for 10 given the right look. If I'm met in the backfield by the DE? Absolutely no chance

Can't get a yard? Lol. These guys are making it sound like brain surgery. A yard is a measly 3 feet. You could probably get that behind a mediocre o-line. Average? No. Probably not. The leauge is so soft nowadays nothing would suprise me though. It's not like running backs are getting hit sticked by Kam Chancellor or Ray Lewis on a consistent basis. There's a reason it's the most dispensable and replaceable position.
@skeeterfinklage445

What? Is the O-line average too? It depends on the play, the defense, if theyre picking up blocks. Obviously the average person isnt going to look like a beast, but one yard? Impossible? Theyre just jerking themselves off at this point. Would an NFL player walk onto a construction site and do anything right? Probably not. If it wasn't for athletic ability, would they be rich? Would they have even made it to college? Theyre special, but its also useless in any other context than sports.
@Mentos6

Depends. The average person isn't really fit anymore, so they are at a disadvantage. Part of this comes down to the scheme. If you're trying to run zone, you need to be able to actually find the gap. Most people wouldn't be able to do that quick enough, if at all. In power, they don't really have to look for a gap. I think they could run for a yard in power. Probably not consistently, but they could do it. Just not in zone, it would need to be power. They would also need to hit the turf immediately to avoid getting knocked backwards, and avoid injury from a tackle. As far as averaging a yard? No, absolutely not. They would have to give up far too often at, or before the line. 20 carries and they'd have a negative average, but probably manage to gain a yard a handful of times, 2 yards if they are really lucky and stupid. 3 yard carries are out of the question.

One time absolutely I’m getting that yard. But I mean I’m skinny af I’ll slip right past you. Then I’m getting medically retired by the linebacker but yeah 4 years of hs football never tackled for a loss. But I mean here’s the thing, the avg person can’t bench press their body weight. Trained players can do it 20x So think of a hs fb player as 20x average. They aren’t saying a hs player can’t do it. They’re saying if you pick a fan with no experience that guy is probably fumbling the handoff

Timmy Smith started 1 game in his entire pro football career and that was in Super Bowl XXII on January 31, 1988 for the Washington Redskins against the Denver Broncos. He rushed for 204 yards which is the record for most yards rushed for in a Super Bowl. He was able to achieve that because he had the greatest offensive line in the history of the NFL. They were known as the Hogs and if an average person had that offensive line in front of them they could run for more than 1 yard in the NFL.
