I created this video to have everything that I would have wanted to know before I got my first Chase card. I hope this helps you out too. Thanks for watching!
@@blankprivatecompany9296 Good luck! The Chase Sapphire Preferred was the first travel card I got once I knew what was going on. It was a great decision. I've been using it for a while now, and I'm really happy with it.
I see the value of having the chase trifecta, but I have existing cards from other places that can already work good together from cash back standpoint. I also never understood the overlapping categories chase had too
The overlapping categories can be messy and a bit downright nonsensical. However since most of the trifecta is $0 AF, you can build up and overlook some of the overlap
I really don't like the freedom rewards tbh the main thing I look for mostly is great catch all for groceries which is what I use the most every month. I don't travel at all its useless for me.
This is a great call out and one that I could've included in the weaknesses. The trifecta has most categories covered, but could still do a better job with a few of them.
sometimes, yes, they are :/ sometimes they're 1:1, sometimes they're $50 +, sometimes they're even double the price!! i found a reddit thread discussing it a while back, and they included this message chase shared with someone complaining about the issue on twitter: "Hello, thanks for bringing your concerns to us. I am sorry, reservations are prepaid & purchased in bulk. The airlines set the price for these tickets, and we're unable to alter what they set. The hotels/airlines are able to offer deals on their site that we can't use." lol... ppl in the reddit thread also discuss potential workarounds which may or may not work, YMMV. in my experience, i'm willing to pay a *little* bit extra for my travel via chase because of the 5% back, but when it's absurdly more and I can't figure out a workaround, i just take the 2% back on other travel booking for cheaper. hope that helps.
In my experience flights and hotels are usually the same price as you would find them elsewhere but it never hurts to confirm before booking! There is potential for them not to match exactly, I just haven’t come across that frequently.
