After about a month and a half of working on the 4.8 versus 8.1 build-off the wrenching is done, the tuning is dialed in, and it's time to measure the results of our labor and see once and for all, is the 8.1 liter Gen VII Big Block still king of the hill, or can the mighty mouse 4.8 liter Gen III small block LS LR4 take the crown? With the same $3,000 budget for each, I set out to determine if a modified LS is the best choice for a performance truck, or perhaps a bone stock 8.1 big block might be better all around... This test is made up of 0-60 acceleration times, chassis dyno numbers for HP and torque, as well as some runs to the 1/8 mile.
