I'm LT, and I love to build fast trucks and cars. On my channel, I show you every step along the way, whether its fabrication and welding, wiring, engine swap tips, mechanical repair and more. I try to focus on high performance upgrades, so a lot of the projects I do revolve around adding horsepower, improving handling, and just making trucks more fun overall. My current projects include the "UglyTruck" a turbo'd 8.1 swapped silverado, an AWD Stepside RCSB, a Mod Motor Mustang, and of course, the 2020 L5P Duramax tow rig. L.T. You do nice work , I have been in the auto business for 30 years and one of the impossible things is to find a quality rebuild engine, all the different companies start out good but then crash and burn at the customer’s expense. If every shop was run like yours the industry would have a better reputation
Hey LT. I grew up in CS. You mentioned powder coat. There’s a place in town called Pikes Peak Powder. Talk to Ryan or Get ahold of Tito at Pikes Peak Indian (Owner). They matched up the colors of some parts I needed perfectly.
Why didn't you use half a shell from the x bearings on the mains? That likely would have hit your goal of .0025". Also, sand both halves of the thrust at the same time, a piece of glass works great as a flat surface for this.
LT> meticulously builds engine with fraction of a hair tolerances Matt> mounts it upside down, welds it to the chassis, puts a tractor flywheel in, paints it blue on the inside and runs it in reverse 😅
That's why doing it right cost money up front but saves you money and disappointment in the long run. 👍 Quality is a performance parameter. How fast you can do the job is not. 🤔
Hey Dirty Hands.. My hands stay clean enough to eat a sandwich, after building an engine. Even if it's an old greaser.. Because, I wear gloves most of the time.
Sorry LT, but with your calculations I'm almost positive that the cubic inches is closer to one of the 'She's Real Fine My 409'! Great Work There LT!!!
I have not rebuilt an engine since the 80's but way back then, I used plastigage to measure the bearing / journal clearance. Why or why not do it that way?
I did expect your hands to be at least slightly oiler. That looks and sounds like it's going to be an engine for the long haul. I am guessing about 677 Hp and 800 Ls of Tq
Geez! Help a brother out with the conversions. If it's a Six Liter, why are you making it a 408? For those of you who don't have the conversion calculator, that's 6.7 Liters. He made it biggerer.
Great vid.. and great ideas for ours. I'm looking for a light to go below the main headlights where that little piece of black plastic lives. Are you going to do anything with that little spot too? Thanks again.. and enjoy your channel LT.
I ALWAYS COMMENT TO OTHER U TUBE FABRICATORS . PLEASE WASH YOUR PROJECTS BEFORE YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT BRINGING THEM IN THE SHOP . HAVE PRIDE . DON'T BE A DURTY OLE GREASE MONKEY . YOU CAN TELL THE DIFFERENCE . THAT PEOPLE WHO WASH CLEAN HAVE POLISHED FINE WORK . DIRT AINT FALLEN IN YOUR EYES AND EVERY EHERE ELSE . LIKE DOWN YOUR COLLAR AND SUCH . SWEET ENGINE . I THINK MATT FINALLY CHOSE SOME INE WITH CLASS . PEACE OUT !
Wow, I'm an aircraft mechanic. And I have never been trained to be so precise in the dentions and finesse that you exhibit in your talarances. You empress me. ..
