I think the big problem with any of the returnees being The Mole is that it's kind of a screw job to anyone eliminated after them. Like if Babs is The Mole then that means Jip and Justin weren't eliminated because they knew the least about The Mole. It means they were eliminated because their test answers has the least amount of coincidental overlap of being answers that fit both Babs AND their suspect. Plus, there are questions about tasks. If Babs is The Mole then none of the questions about tasks after she left would pertain to her. Justin is the only one of those three who could return and conceivably still be The Mole since they haven't had a test since then.

i also don’t think that any of them could be de mol in the sense that that means those games were rigged to bring de mol back and it’s clearly by chance bc of the chance games. if babs is de mol and comes back, then if i were jip or justin i would be annoyed bc there was no actual chance

I don’t know if this has already been said but I found more evidence for Kees! I recognised some out of place music again. While they were checking into the hotel, the theme from Only Murders Building was playing, a show about a true crime podcast. And Kees is a crime journalist! I think it must point to him because it would be super out of place otherwise.

While I do agree that it could be Kees (although I'm more interested in Rosario and Fons)... in a recent season with a male Mole, in a beach challenge where the candidates had to look for clues on the beach while they were stuck offshore in boats, the Mole was also in a boat nearby and could be spotted. Again, the Mole of this season was male. How did they introduce this challenge? With a musical cue from "Music to watch girls by" by Tony Bennett. Which you'd think would be the most obvious clue ever that the Mole would be female. So I'm a bit doubtful about these "musical clues". For every genuine one there's probably at least ten that are just fan theories.

This episode annoyed me, and I don't easily get annoyed by WIDM. Challenge one I actually liked. One team is actively cycling and have good ways to sabotage if one of them is the mole without sticking out. The shopping group seemed pretty competent and I'll be surprised if the mole is on that team. All the failings of this challenge fell on the cycling team, whether it was being on the phone too long or picking the wrong items at the end. I even liked the hidden element of the eliminated contestants going around being sneaky while trying not to get caught. They dragged the reveal too long (because I think everyone and their uncle saw that twist coming), but it was still fun. Then comes the silly Survivor-rejected 'Build a Block Tower' challenge, which...fine. Not riveting but it's fine. Went on way too darn long but sure. Don't know why building a block tower quickly should earn you a spot back on the show but why not. But then comes the third challenge. Which is the contestants just sitting on a boat playing puzzles. Like is all the money this season going into the pot rather than challenge design? This was the laziest challenge yet, and that's saying something because we had a pub quiz last week and one team doing literally nothing the week before that. Not only that, but it's another pay to win challenge which is just unnecessary. Why do you have to play money out of the pot to gain money so often in this season? The painting task in episode 1 (I suppose it wasn't fully required to pay money to win in this challenge, so I'd let it slide normally except it's started the pattern), the pub quiz in episode 3, and now this? Like if you couldn't afford the pot to be this high why didn't they just make the exemptions be worth $500 a piece in episode 1 instead of $1000? But wait it gets better. I could be wrong on calculations, but I cannot understand how this challenge was potentially worth $3500 total. Seven puzzles total. Lots of pausing but here's the numbers: Maze +150/-100, Squares +150/-100, Unplayed 'Woordkunstenaar' Puzzle +150/-100, Circles +150/-250, Rubik's cube +150 or 750/-150, Geography +150/-200, and Triangles +150/-100. The only one that I'm not 100% sure on is Geography, but I'm like 95% sure it's right. Which would make a grand total if both teams got every puzzle right: $3300! Where that extra $200 come from? But wait it gets better still: there's an entire puzzle that must have to do with the selfie stick that you can see Fons open but isn't covered AT ALL in the episode (you can see him holding a card at one point while the others are working on the geography puzzle and Rosario is holding the selfie stick). We also don't know if the team of 3 even worked on the maze puzzle or not. It's like they're making it intentionally complicated this season to make it harder to spot the mole, but all it is is a confusing unpleasant mess. And then when I think at least we'll get a fun heartwarming ending with a returning contestant (which breaks the rules of the game but is a rant for another time) they leave us with the same cliffhanger that the next week preview left us on last week! Like UGH. Even worse is that the sleuths have already made it seem that Babs is back in it, so what's even the point? Should have just let us have the reunion and leave us with an ominous Rik outro or something. Sorry, had to get that off my chest. I've enjoyed the contestants a lot this year, but the challenges have been more miss than hit. And while I like the contestants that doesn't mean I want there to be 8 in at episode 5! It's so hard to figure it out this year but not for fun reasons. Hopefully next week will be better for me.

I get your points... About the games in the second challenge: There's been a lot of discussions about that, e.g. if the Rubrik's cubes actually were solved or if there wasn't a part of the fingerprint upside-down/on its side. I also hope for a bit more exciting next episode.
@thefuzzyoranges
@thefuzzyoranges 5 месяцев назад
@@julieswidm The one thing that I always enjoy (despite how good or bad an episode is) from this show is that it makes me motivated to try the challenges and see how I'd do. I actually have a Rubik's cube for some reason, and I can 100% guarantee that Tooske's boat did not solve it correctly but Anna's boat did. If it were done correctly the first layer of colors would match on each side (there would be 3 of the same colors on the layer touching the white face). Tooske's are random colors, Anna's are the same. It seems the boat with 3 contestants lost a lot more money than the one with 4. (The first layer is a really easy solve; I could do it in about a minute or two. But completing the whole cube is not easy. Even with practice it still took me about 5 minutes, and that's without the pressure of money on the line and people breathing over my shoulder. Worth the time for the amount of money it earned in the challenge but it's still at minimum a quarter of the allotted time.)

OK, so I had some free time over the last couple days, and I watched all 4 episodes again, and now I am super confused. I was thinking about the speed-dating in episode 1, and I realized that the mole most likely voted for someone who didn’t have an exemption, and that the mole’s vote probably wasn’t shown in the episode. So, I went back, watched it again, and took notes on who voted for whom after this assignment. And…all of my top 3 current suspects (Tooske/Fons/Kees) actually voted for someone with an exemption and added 1000 euros to the pot 🙃. We don’t know who voted for Rosario, and we don’t know for certain who Jip, Jeroen, Rosario, Anna, or Rian voted for (we know who Rosario and Anna claim to have voted for, but there is no proof). The fact that the votes from Jeroen/Rosario/Anna/Rian are still up in the air makes me think that they could potentially be our final 4. I remember in a past season, the 3 finalists were kind of spoiled by the editors mid-season (although we didn’t realize it at the time) because the candidates had to cast some sort of vote (I don’t remember the exact details, it was a while ago) that would determine whether or not a large amount of money got added to the pot, and everyone’s votes were shown in the episode except the 3 candidates who ended up being the final 3. After the fact, it became obvious that the reason they didn’t show how those 3 voted was because it would have revealed which one was the mole. So…have all of my suspicions been completely wrong this whole time? Probably. *sigh*

Oh wow! That's interesting. I'm really curious if you're theory turns out to be true... (Btw I've heard that there is very likely a situation in which the candidates will play a lot of money out of the pot... or as we call it here: fishsticks)

The returning candidate is not the mole. The fact that everything was left up to chance (Jeroen choosing one random key out of 10) eliminates that possibility, unless the entire thing is completely rigged, and WIDM producers would never rig something to that extent. Babs and Jip also missed far too many assignments to be the mole. I could see the mole maybe getting eliminated for a single episode, but nothing more than that. I do kind of like the idea of an “eliminated” mole working behind the scenes to mess up assignments, and then returning to the game later. Imagine Babs hiding somewhere in the Olympic stadium, remotely interfering with the microphone so that the candidates have to shout back and forth to one another. Or Jip in a hotel room, receiving the photos that are being sent by the candidates in the wrestling arena, and the sketches from Anna and Jeroen, and then editing/deleting some of them before sending them to Fons and Justin in the adjacent room. But it would require SO many adjustments to make a scenario like that work, I don’t know how they would score the tests, AND they would have to make sure that the mole could return to the game in a way that didn’t look obviously rigged. I think whoever returns is just a candidate who is lucky to receive a second chance. It will be interesting to see whether anyone in the group actually suspects the returning person, and how long that person will be able to remain in the game the second time around.

" I could see the mole maybe getting eliminated for a single episode, but nothing more than that." and that would be the stupidest production decision, and no one would be that stupid 😉 (it's been done in another franchise, pretty much killing it)

@@mremumerm I’ve seen the season that you are referring to, lol. That is what happens when the producers are unable to think of a good, non-suspicious, not obviously rigged way to bring the mole back.

One of the rules in the mole is that the mole can't ever see a red screen in the elimination. The three candidates that went out in episode 1,2,3 one could come back to the game, but that also would mean that this player can never be the mole. The mole can't ever see a red screen. That would violate the rules.

i'm confused about the first task, wouldn't the buyers have done technically well by buying really bad stuff that was easily identifiable? So actually buying good stuff would be molish.
@windfallsofdreams
@windfallsofdreams 6 месяцев назад
Yeah, I am confused about the strategy for this assignment as well. Because the group in the market was told to buy items that looked more expensive than Rik’s items. But then the cycling group knew all along that their assignment wasn’t to choose the items that they thought actually cost more; it was to choose the items that they thought their fellow candidates purchased (items that were most likely LESS expensive). Rik says “Choose the more expensive item”, but if they actually choose the more expensive item they lose. So what is the point of increasing the budget for the group in the market? Wouldn’t that make the assignment harder? The best way to earn the most money would be to not make any phone calls at all, and to limit the group in the market to 100 euros. That way, they have to buy cheap items, and each correct guess is worth 300 euros.
@julieswidm
@julieswidm 5 месяцев назад
@@windfallsofdreamsThe only reason in getting the market group more money I see is that they actually can afford to buy enough items (which didn't work out...) but then again that only makes sense when they buy things that look more expensive which leads us back to the problem that you explained... 😩

this episode highlight one of my problem with this season so far, i cared more about the "dropouts" than about most of the remaining candidates. Like have we ever had a more absent player than Rian? Season is fine, but production got unlucky with the elimination order so far. as for speculations, Kees mentioning beach is even more suspicious, as Merida is not on the coast, so even if they knew they were heading there, it would be hard to guess they would they drive over one hour to Celestun

Firstly, I live in Wales. And it's not a country! As for countries that begin with a "Q", I have zero idea. There's twenty-seven triangles - one that's four short lines in length, three that are three short lines in length, seven that are two short lines in length (six pointing up, just one pointing down), and sixteen that are one line in length. Took me all of twenty seconds to work that one out by looking at each individual possible sizing of triangle. Seriously, candidates, none of you could manage that? Rosario looks seriously suspicious. I also don't agree at all that the Mole would've been in the market. If they were, they were doing a crap job, since that seemed to be the one part of the task that actually went right. Fons just seems to be too openly suspicious. Kees is a suspect, but on personality, I find it difficult to see him as the Mole. He's too old and not enough of a part of the group. Tooske is 100% not the Mole and I've known that since the very first round. (I'll look stupid as heck if she is, but there's no way.) Rosario's puzzle performance was awful and his reactions to the "correct" items seemed really fake. It also seemed as though the only positive contribution he made to any decision was for a wrong item. I would've been shocked if Justin, Jip or Babs had been identified in the market. The other team were locked in and focussed on the items. They weren't looking for people, let alone people who were disguised like these three were. Yeah, my new Mole pick is Rosario - who was my pre-season pick to go out first. (Figures.) I feel that he's completely different to the standard male Mole "archetype", being younger, not an actor / presenter, and not caucasian. On the other hand, he's a games enthusiast, he's obviously qualified. Other possible suspects are Fons, Kees, and Rian. Anna and Jeroen are the possibilities I'm worrying about but at this point I don't think it's likely to be either of them. Tooske is 100% not it and the only person I'm confident in ruling out completely. The returning player won't be the Mole. There's actually a real possibility that the Mole could get eliminated for real here if it were Justin, plus the Mole would have to miss out on two tasks; and given how badly those tasks went, I don't think they did.
@windfallsofdreams

WIDM has used that triangle puzzle (or a similar one) multiple times, and the candidates’ guesses are always WAY too low. At this point, anyone who is going to be a candidate on this show should practice counting shapes as part of their preparation. Hint for future candidates: if the number you are coming up with is less than 25, you’re wrong. Lol.
@windfallsofdreams
@windfallsofdreams 6 месяцев назад
Also, call me crazy, but I still think Tooske is more suspicious than Rosario! During that first assignment, when Rosario was making the first phone call, Tooske leaned in close to listen and relay the information to the others. You can see her lips moving, and you can tell by reading her lips that she was actually able to hear what was said, because she was passing on the message correctly. Then, she says “For 600 pesos choose option 1, for 800 pesos, choose option 2.” She completely lied about option 2 and, in doing so, gave Rosario “permission” to go for the joker. This was the first phone call, so it set the tone for the remainder of the assignment. Everyone went for jokers from that point on. I do agree that Rosario’s actions were suspicious as well, and he was much more involved in both assignments in this episode than he has been in previous episodes. But I am still getting the Mole vibes from Tooske! One more thing (color theory again) -Tooske was wearing a shirt that perfectly matched the color of the box that the returning candidate was locked in. I am one step closer to the tunnel, lol.
