With the NEW Batman Arkham VR game confirmed to be launching this year for Quest 3 (Batman Arkham Shadow), I decided to revisit the original Batman VR experience for the first time in YEARS; I haven't played Batman Arkham VR since it originally launched for the PSVR and I was curious to see how it holds up against the best VR games out there in 2024. Well one thing is certain, it's still a GORGEOUS VR game, the character models and facial animations are amongst the very best VR graphics I've seen and the atmosphere is exceptional, it captures the vibe of the Arkham games perfectly whilst leaning into a darker more twisted, and almost horror centric, story. However it is criminally short and VERY linear, you can clock the entire Batman Arkham VR experience in under an hour and although I expect most players will take their time and perhaps even play it multiple times it's still hard to call this Batman VR experience a "game". Batman Arkham VR is more of a short interactive movie, a slice of Batman action rather than a fleshed out game that lets you truly play as a caped crusader. I mean... it doesn't even have any combat...
Hopefully the new Batman Arkham VR game retains the visual polish and atmosphere of Arkham VR whilst giving players a more fleshed out and complete VR Batman experience. Hopefully Batman Arkham Shadow gives us the best of both worlds with exciting VR combat and exploration mixed with the detective work and slow paced darker moments that made Arkham VR so good.

I loved this one for what it was. Getting to stand with the character models after playing the Arkham games for years was awesome. Especially with Killer Croc because you finally understand just how big he is

I had this on PSVR and would always use the suit up/elevator into the Batcave section to show off VR. I bought it again on Steam just see that again on a better headset. It's still one of my favorite VR moments.

I think it's just the fact that lots of people love playing the arkham games and don't want to have to buy a whole new VR headset for 500 bucks just to play it, especially those who already have quest 1 or 2 since arkham VR will be quest 3 exclusive. But I do think it doesn't mean the game will be bad, it'll be fun for those who will play it surely.

I wanted actual combat. I wanted Arkham Knight VR. I wanted to punch people and throw Batarangs. Full motion controls, 6DOF, and able to move around with the left stick no problem. Everywhere. Fly and grapple and slam. If it can do anything near that, it will be better.

Still remember playing this one when Rift first came out. Was blown away with the visuals. It felt like level one of a really cool story based Batman detective game, just needed some combat, proper movement and about 15 more levels.

Doing Batman in VR (as in a full game) is a *really* tall order with a lot of moving parts. Camoflaj *really* have their work cut out for them, but after Ironman VR, I'm *very* interested to see how it's gonna play. I guess we'll find out in June, along with seeing how that Aliens game looks in action, can't wait!

Great Video! Do you mind sharing what Mic/Headphones (Looks like a Razer) and how you capturing the audio? Looks to be hard-wired to your PC and is it captured via OBS? Beardo needs to try out Gothem Knights in UEVR next to see how it compares to this. Batman Arkham VR showed what was possible using existing high level game assets modified slightly to present a experience in VR even if it wasn't a full game. UEVR just demonstrates assets in VR on a large scale just without being fully integrated for interfacing in VR. I don't know how great Gotham Knights game is in UEVR, but really would like the comparison.

Batman: Arkham Shadow (2024) On May 1, 2024 a reveal trailer was released for Batman: Arkham Shadow. It was announced the game would be exclusive to the Meta Quest 3. It is set to be released in late 2024.

The dislikes on this game is a huge problem and it bums me out because I use to be one of those 2 years ago. I'm 38 now. I used to absolutely LOVE gaming until I hit about 18 and it just didn't excite me the way it used to. I always tried over the years to reignite the passion and never gave up totally as I've ALWAYS had the current PS. It just wasn't happening. I remember when the vr iron man trailer launched, I was SO pissed it was only VR. How would they take a beloved character and restrict him to such a niche piece of tech that no one is using!? Then quest was out and seeing those super nes graphics just solidified my opinion even further. I didn't get it at all and was so sure of that I didn't even care to try to prove myself otherwise. It wasn't until 2021-2022 after constantly seeing the half life alyx thumbnails on YT, I finally clicked one. These graphics looked great and intrigued me! Maybe I was wrong!? I didn't have a gaming pc at the time, but I did have a ps4 pro so got myself a psvr which was cheap at the time. Honestly, it's something I'll NEVER forget. Taking off in iron man. As soon as the world loaded in my mind was blown. But when it asked me to take off, it was now the most memorable video game experience I think I ever had. It 100 percent gave me that feeling I thought was gone long ago as far as games go. I was hooked instantly. Built a pc and you already know the first game I booted up after hours of painstakingly getting everything setup! Half life alyx. This game just further cemented my passion for VR as it truly showcased brilliantly what the medium is truly capable of. I SO wish Sony would have somehow gotten the rights for the game because I think it would have really helped push VR forward. What is going to get these "haters" to finally give it a shot though!? An Arkham batman game you would think might do just that! I'll say this as a win though, literally today I helped setup a NEW PC for a longtime friend of mine who just so happens to be over 70!! Walkabout mini golf and flight simulator are what did him in! :)

Would of been cool if it was a really well done stereoscopic 3D metroidvania side scroller. Where u look at this giant 3d stereoscopic 2d game and your surrounding change based on the level . Not everything has to be fully vr. I think this is a huge missed opportunity for vr headsets . There could of been a 3d version of hades , hollow knight , the new side scroller prince of persia , risk of rain 2 etc..... all these games are popular as he'll and having an option to play in 3d would be awsome

The atmosphere in this experience and its graphics were insane. I doubt the new Batman game will come anywhere close, but here is hoping, plus at least it would be a full-fledged game and not a tech demo or an experience, so there is that.

@@lynrayy Yeah it sucks that since the Quest blew up in popularity and the biggest AAA games are exclusives for it, we're just completely missing out on immersive and graphically impressive experiences cause it's running on a mobile chip. Imagine Assassin's Creed Nexus or Asgard's Wrath 2 with Half Life: Alyx graphics and optimization. ugh.

Arkham VR has set the bar for the next and any future Batman VR games , the experience was so well made and you feel like you are batman! for that short time, I really hope the devs take note of this and make it as good or better , I don't want to get all hyped up and then its mince . hopefully what they show in the gaming showcase in June gives us all a better idea of what the game play will be like

Hi Beardo. You are my favorite VR content creator. I suffer from anxiety and I just purchased a Quest 3 and a BoboVR S3 Pro strap. I struggle alot with anxiety and I would like to be able to play and stream in high quality like you do. Could you please create an A to Z, start to finish setup video of everything you do and every setting and menu you go through to achieve what you do? I cannot do this myself. Hey Beardo, fellow BOBOVR user here! Mind telling me what settings you did in options to get 150+ higher resolution? 2064x2208 per eye is the resolution should be on the Quest 3! Hey, how this, can you comment on what you used in options? I have a RTX 4080 so I should at least be able to do what you've got, unless you've got a RTX4090! My resolution doesn't look anywhere near as yours does in the Vid, at least as much as I could tell! FYI, I'm loving it as well, $4.99 as of this time on steam! LOL, does anybody go to the movies anymore and spend less than $13.00 bucks just for the experience? I just went and got my chill thrills just now calibrating the Batman suit! I would love to see mine at least the same res as yours, but i'm not nearly familiar with steam as I just don't buy alot of digital before! Comment please! Thanks Bro! I tried it last year, but I don't know why, the motion control didn't work. I had to play it with gamepad. Sad. It is way too expensive for what it is, but yes great visuals This game takes place during a specific part of Arkam knight

I haven't tried this game but I just wanted to chime in. Console gamer, turned pc, turned vr gamer here and I gotta admit; vr is really fucking cool. Lol once you find your vr legs, the games are nonstop entertainment. Even if it's a quest or pcvr, you've gotta start investing in the vr gaming world because it is booming. In my opinion, console games are gonna be replaced with quest like, Standalone headsets.

I don't believe they're going to get anywhere near this quality on Quest 3. Even if it's technically possible, I just don't think they'll achieve it. And I mean, I'm sure they'll have more of an actual game, but I just think it won't be up to this genuine AAA quality unfortunately. PS. This is what bugs me about Quest 3: I was playing games like this on the Oculus Rift CV1 seven years ago, and Quest 3 is a step back and we still haven't gotten even up to this level on it yet. I also can't afford to keep upgrading my PC to have the latest VR there, so I'm stuck with either the best Quest 3 can manage or the best my GeForce 1060 can manage as viewed on a Quest 3 via Oculus Link, which is some ways actually looks worse due to the crappy low contrast of the Quest 3. It's just so frustrating, because I should be experiencing VR well beyond that now.

@@kayra-bg2si the base game, as it stands is built without quest 2 or quest 3 support, not recognising headset nor controllers. I've tried some GitHub DLL to address this, but so far without luck. Apologies but your answer of pc is ass, especially since when it can only be purchased on Steam and therefore I'd need a pc to to run it.

You could run the PSVR1 version on Quest 3 but the game is very small in scale. You can't quite expect this visual fidelity in a full-blown AAA game on Standalone just yet. You can't have both these visuals and a massive game unfortunately with the hardware yet. It will still likely look great though. Even if maybe not quite as good as this. I believe you can expect the visuals to look like Iron Man VR on PSVR1.

I was waiting so long for madison vr but the game im the actually state of build feels to buggy for me. Graphics wasnt good compared to Resident Evil with Vr mod and the controlls wasnt good too. I refund it and waiting for updates. Maybe batman is my next game in vr 😆
