Can The Watch Dogs Series Be Saved? 

I know it's not a popular take but I really liked Aiden. I didn't find him boring, just really closed off and a loner who clearly had mental and obsession problems.

If they went back to their vigilante routes I think they could have a better chance of salvaging it all.

Watch Dog could have been bigger series if not for Ubisoft mismarketing and mishandling

Yo really thought this series lost a lot of its direction but I do still think they could salvage it if they wanted to.

I like that 1and 2 are very different in tone. Because it's two different groups of people. Legion was a big let down.

imagine a new watch dogs game where Aiden is back as the protag but give him an apprentice, a girl that sorta reminds him of Clara from watch dogs 1. we could have t-bone and wrench come back too, as well as jordi to take down a new faction of hackers like dedsec etc.

I never played Legion. I enjoyed the plot of the first Watch_Dogs but I think the gameplay was much better in Watch_Dogs 2. I didn't enjoy the characters as much. I liked the darker tone of the first game which a lot of the time felt like a video game adaptation of the Punisher. I think my favorite Ubisoft game would have to be one of the Assassin's Creed games, and I particularly enjoyed the Ezio trilogy. Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is also great.

My prescription would be as follows: 1. Create an engaging narrative with clear motivation for the main characters. 2. Have three or four playable characters that can be switched around who each have their own strengths and weaknesses in order to tackle missions differently. 3. Flesh out every aspect of hacking and make it integral to being successful in every part of the game. Don't make it so that you can shoot your way out of any scenario. 4. Craft some really compelling side content like The Witcher 3 and make it affect some things in the real world. 5. Make your actions directly affect the narrative. The more reckless you are, the more difficult certain aspects become and the easier other aspects are. Then, by being less reckless, the opposite becomes true. 6. Make different smaller factions in the city that are all part of a black market economy with whom you can have relationships that get better or worse over time depending on your actions.

Rayman legends is my favorite ubisoft game. I love rayman. I hate that he got replaced by the stupid rabbits.

I would say just retcon Legion Bring back Aiden and Wrench and have the whole game be those two working together

While it wasn't perfect, the last genuinely great game Ubisoft released to me in general was Far Cry 5. People can say what they want and I definitely agree with some things like the fact that they forcefully pull you out of the open world with the reputation system. But it at least tried to innovate the series; it really did try. So it sucks that they have just gone down the gutter since than because it isn't like they are incapable of making good games. Their hearts haven't been in the right place at all. Ubisoft actually used to be one of my favorite studios many years ago. Yes a lot of their games were very repetitive or incredibly similar, but honestly- what game isn't to a certain point? I hope they can wake up and realize what people want, but these are just wishes and I know it is very unlikely to ever happen.

It really is a shame what happened to the series. I’ve played and am replaying the first game and love it. I’ve played the second game and can see how much they changed just to appease the masses but I still enjoyed it a lot. Legion was something different in the worst way. There are very few games that I just can not bring myself to play but legion is at the top of that list. It truly felt like everything that was special about the first and second game got ripped out and once again they were trying to appease the masses but this time it appeased like no one. The series definitely did lose its identity a lot during its course but if they wanted to bring it back I feel like the best thing to do would be to make it more like watch dogs 1 because that’s where the series had the most identity

not gonna lie, the only reason i tried watchdogs 1 and 2 was because i was starving for a new gta game, it was one of my best decisions tough, i really had a blast especially with watchdogs 2

Watchdogs 1 is my favorite but I love the hacking in 2 a lot and my favorite Ubisoft game is probably ac3 or revelations

I played the first watchdog but didn't finish it. I spent most of my time hacking traffic lights and causing massive car accidents.

When I first played watchdogs 1 I had mixed reviews about it . I felt like Aiden was dull & boring . As time went on I started to miss the game & replayed it . I was wrong . Watchdogs 1 is a masterpiece. The 2 game is really solid as well . I love it . Even though it’s a complete different feel. They dropped the ball with that 3rd one and not have a protagonist

If they made a Watchdogs game that has the feel of Heavy Rain or Detroit become human, but open world then I'd buy the hell out of that. A dark vibe like the first Watchdogs, but better.

Imo Watchdogs 1 was really engaging and fun, but Watchdogs 2 was one of the most boring experiences I've ever had playing a game. Generic happy MC, insanely easy gameplay (Like it felt like I was playing a game designed for 4 year olds easy), uninteresting story with either obnoxious or boring side characters. My main issue was the gameplay though. I liked how in Watchdogs 1, you had to be careful about getting into an open firefight because Aiden died very easily. You had to try and think instead of rushing in. In Watchdogs 2, you could take on the entire U.S. army and not really worry about dying even once. It made it just boring alongside how bland everything else was

Might be a hot take but It could be a good opportunity to start from scratch and do a series reboot/remake. We can start from the first game (one of my fav games of all time btw so im not a blind hater) and rework some things. Perhaps we can have a couple missions take place in the first year when Aiden starts hunting down the people who killed his neice. Maybe show stuff like how Aiden met and contracted Jordi and show Aidens initial grief and anger when Lena was killed then we can jump to the one year later mark to when Aiden finds Maurice at the stadium. It could definitely benefit from having scenes that show Aidens initial journey to becoming The Fox here and there and showcase more of his trumaua and depression. It could also show Aiden distancing himself from his family after Lena's death and maybe it could show a cutscene of Nicky trying to reach out to Aiden only to be ignored because Aiden is too damaged and refuses to bring his walls down. Some stuff could be reworked or changed too like having the first scene where Aiden hacks the Merlaut Hotel as a tutorial stealth mission instead? Instead of the long cutscene where Aiden and Damien hack the merluat then run off, we can instead make it a stealth mission where he has to make his way into the building and hack into the servers remotely similar to the opening mission of WD2. The Resident Evil 4 remake is a phenomenal example of a remake where its more or less the same thing as the original but so much more improved, updated and rewritten all for the better so im sure WD1 could benefit from something similar and be a good opportunity for the people that arent fans of the original to give it another try.

I know I'll get hate for this but I really enjoyed WD2. Felt more free and light hearted compared to the first. Legion was just a mess. Ubisoft is basically just hanging itself now. The new AC will flop like Mirage. They basically gave up on Ghost Recon. Been a hot minute since the last game. No trailers or game images for the next game. Just hints and names.

WDL approach of having a new main character for each play through making it unique flops, because they still only hired a certain amount of voice actors with dialog what repeats itself. Plus the story was very uninteresting when you are made to return to an area you just did a mission in, then it sends you across the map to collect 1 bit of intel in a area you also did a mission in like 20 mins prior

My favorite game in the series is 2. Just a suggestion, if they let you cycle the main dedsec characters based on their expertise. That would have been awesome. Not EVERYONE IN THE GAME, but a select few. Like Sitara was the best tracuer, Josh was the best coder so he has faster hacking or longer range, wrench was anarchist so he was a chaotic destruction guy, etc.

My favorite Watch Dogs is 2. I've come to appreciate 1 after playing it again as a John Wick simulator though. As for the future I would've went for a soft-reboot. Raymond Kenney game set before and after the events of 2003 blackout.

I think to fix Watchdogs, Ubisoft needs to have faith in their product. It could be the tiniest little thing, just a minor complaint and they will just scrap it and start the whole thing over. It's like someone saying "my Mac and Cheese needs more pepper" and instead of just giving them a little more pepper they remake the whole Mac and cheese with different cheese and fixings. Aiden was a good character, they should have committed to him, written stories that fixed his flaws rather than getting rid of him entirely.

I love the original watchdogs.They need to make a sequel based on that

If they made it a game like GTA where you had different skill lines and lots of weapons and lots of missions. It would also has lots of businesses in the watch dogs universe

Watch_Dogs needs a soft reboot that builds off of lore from the first game. I think there should be a new protagonist whose story intertwines with the narratives of Raymond Kenny, Chicago Dedsec, and Aiden Pearce. Perhaps have the character be Blume Chief of Security with a past in Cyber operations for the military, as well as some shady work done for private contractors, Blume being one of them. Have the first mission be a security breach at Blume HQ during the 2014 events, and have the MC shot by Aiden himself, and someone close to the MC established in the opening is persumed kidnapped by Aiden(this will come back later). The MC could either be in a coma for awhile, or take a long time to recover after being critical, but after he awakens, the first act of the game could be spent as a Blume operative sent out into Chicago with complete access to CTOS and a mission, hunt down Aiden Pearce and all associates, and do what must be done. The story would then open up into a bit more of an immersive sim than the other games, mixing the GTA styled open world and gritty tone of WD1 with a Deus Ex style level of exploration and depth. The story, additionally, will be slightly less linear, with the player having control over narrative choices, like who to tackle first, who to side with, and what you uncover. The story should be a morally gray, tangled web of conspiracy, vigilantism, and shadowy entities on both the vigilante and corporate side. Finally, since Watch_Dogs Legion was able to somewhat make unique stories and dialogue for NPCs on a mass scale, and the game is focused more on choices of the player in a world where they know everything about everyone, I think a mimicry of the nemesis system from the Shadow of Mordor/War games would serve as a great tool in utilizing the hacking and player control over NPCs for narrative purposes. Your actions, digital and physical, can sway people to your cause or against you, and with unlimited access to everyone's lives, you can manipulate everyone to your whims and spin any narrative. But should you?

Favorite Watch Dogs game: Number 1, I really liked Aiden Pearce as a character and the dark and gritty tone of the game.

I haven’t played any of the Watch Dogs before but the idea seems interesting. My favorite Ubisoft game is probably Prince of Persia the Lost Crown. The game just oozes style, personality, and the gameplay is just Fantastic. I also like Sargon as a character and hope to see his story continue.

Ik Ubisoft is done with VR for the time being but I think Watch Dogs would make for an amazing vr game. the gameplay would work so well. and as a side thing (or somehow incorporate it into the story like with Nexus) just imagine the MR on quest 3 and doing the data flow line hack puzzle in your own home.

I agree for the most part but my idea is they need to do a standalone Watchdogs mobile game. I've beta tested the new Division game so I know they can and it's a shame they didn't think of it sooner. It should be called Watchdogs Uprising released episodically about two orphans who grew up to live different lives. One of them is a part of a company bought out, assimilated and gutted by what will become ctos. The deeper he looks into it he finds out about other contracts and industries this company is taking over. Before he can tie it together his sister gets the news he's been killed in an accident. She will find his cache of data leading her to connect with others who will become the council of Dave which she names in his honor who'll eventually start Deadsec. Gameplay wise the brother should be a hacker, and the sister a getaway driver. Who you recruit should determine the benefits your council( like if you recuit an engineer and a gunsmith your coucil could have taser guns. If you have a martial artist instructor and parkour coach would unlock a ninja style). Think of it as the progression to Legion core theme of play as anyone. Playing as anyone wasn't the problem it was that no matter who you played as it was all the same. If you wanna pullup and shootout as a playstyle your hacks should be basic but as a hacker the playground is your weapon. They can do this on mobile trust me. Even multi-player could be balanced especially with coop missions or 3 player pvp vs pve and your personal character would add something unique to the squad. I think it should be set in Australia or a small outta the way isle of Hawaii where the test some of everything from the A.I. that will become Bagley to Drone soldiers. They could release a new zone every six months to a year. My bad if this is too long. I've been thinking about this for a little while. Watchdogs: Uprising "We are they" has a ring to it. But you right. They won't do it.

The common denominator with these games being all wishy washy and never committing to something is Ubisoft

I always felt like as a concept Watch Dogs will always be slightly too ambitious’ due to the actual possibilities of what you could do in theory vs what players will realistically get. I love the IP and the concept and hope it’s not over! I think maybe if legion had been developed exclusively for next gen we may have seen some better gameplay, probably just wishful thinking though.

To be honest, I think the franchise would basically need a soft reboot. If there were no limitations, I'd prefer to see it in entirely different hands. The franchise had a lot of potential on a conceptual level, but it never really lifted off (not to say there isn't a collection of fans for it). I played WD2 and liked it fine, but never finished it; there was nothing I really felt invested in or immersed by. Back when these games were coming out, the TV show Mr. Robot was also coming out, and that did a much better job of scratching the itch I hoped this franchise could at that time. Something about the franchise has just always felt a bit hollow and underdeveloped. I'd love to see high quality writers get a crack at it for a publisher/studio outside of Ubi.

I think Watch Dogs would be cool if they went the Cyberpunk route like they sort of did with Legion but had more of the tone as Watch Dogs 1.

Oh and @Ubisoft pay attention. Because i want another installment.

I wouldnt mind a game with older aiden from bloodlines and older marcus as two switchable characters

The only thing that saved legion for was playing just as Aiden or wrench.. it sealed off the series, both had their own dialogue and you could change their outfits up plus the bloodline DLC was nice too!! I enjoy the first game so so much and honestly I've enjoyed the whole series but it definitely has its flaws that's for sure. Not that it'll stop me from playing them all again

Honestly I really enjoyed Watch Dogs. Had its hiccups but I like the origin and the part 2 stories.

The franchise never had a consistent tone, so I don't think so.

Imo all 3 games are amazing. 2 is the best one though. No idea why people think otherwise. I play a variety of games with varying tones and whatnot so none of it bothers me. If anything i hate the idea that tone should be consistent. A lot of media is inspired by reality, and real life has no tone. It just depends on the people, places, and situation. Plausibility is key.

I think the next one should be set in New York State and you play as Jacks and it should have air vehicles the story should be Jack has to find the killers of his family and take them out 1 by 1 and have help from from old Marcus and old Aiden also old Wrench who became the leaders of Dedsec

absolutely it can. the shouldve kept the feel of the first one and stick with the gameplay style of wd2 because marcus was fun and everything but in a world like this putting some teenager mindset to avoid violence is just dumb. if youre making a r rated game make a r rated game. i mean they killed horatio and for being such a pg13 game i didnt really felt the need to avenge him. but with aiden everything was blood and hacking, and it was fun . my opinion tho

I liked 1 and 2, but Legion was abtrocious in every way. Every character was hideos. They gutted so much of the content, and the story felt directionless. Plus, they constantly pushed anti gun narratives for a game series where shooting was a fairly big part of the game until you get the bomb drone upgrade. Legion was more like they forgot what a video game is all together

Watch dogs is fine, i dont think theyre following trends at all. Maybe w the story, but the gameplay says otherwise. I think legion suffered from being so obtuse and revolutionary that it suffered from the ignorance factor. Like if you appreciate experimental and games that push the edge of gaming. Bare bones gaming mechanics. This is for you But if you want a cinamatic experience something more of a ride. Like god of war. Its gonna be hard to understand or like People overall liked legion tho. Even those that hated it.They just didnt like the story, everyone who hates it loves the dlc. Which is just s different story. Same game mechanics. The amount of money snd time they spent developing legions. It would be crazy not to use that foundation and fine tune it. Add more rdr2 and final fantasy tactics. Main characters and emphasize those relationships. Could be someting really special. For me its the best open world game since rdr2. In

Ubisoft is a lost cause. i just researched the upcoming Watchdogs movie, its in pre-production now...They got no name writers, (one writer has only written ONE OTHER SCREENPLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) no name director...lame leading actors....its gonna be a shit show. All these new shows/movies/games are woke and suck because they are hiring writers that are young and have no life experiences. HIRE a REAL writer!!!!!!!! UBI has lost all integrity. It will be woke and gay as fuck......mark these words. They took a great idea and ran it into the ground. Im playing Legion again now....its totally gay. I can feel sweet baby incs stank all over it. I quit playing it because I have to play as a gay person to complete a mission. seriously? weak......

I would agree wd can be saved, I love all 3 games but I'll be honest I love legion the most simply because of the play as anyone feature. I've been a veteran for years on wd in general and me and others are still praying one day Ubisoft will either make new game or even update legion to fix the rest of bugs. I'm even still hoping a for an update to add more operative space lol
