Out in the open, extreme heat can kill these tortoises, literally boiling them alive in their shell. As Sir David Attenborough comments, "their only enemy is the sun." They must find shade to survive, and so, a mass migration begins.

Marvel at nature's epic and powerful forces as this stunning series reveals how perfectly our planet is set up to nurture life.
Discover how our incredible living planet operates. See how sunlight, weather, ocean currents and volcanoes all work together in an intricate balancing act to shape and support the great diversity of life on Earth. Filmed in spectacular habitats around the globe, the series shows how animals of all shapes and sizes are perfectly adapted to whatever the environment throws at them. But what happens when nature’s epic forces are knocked off course? As human activity impacts on Earth’s perfectly balanced ecosystems, what can we do to protect the fragility of life on our unique and precious planet?
Narrated by Sir David Attenborough.
Welcome to BBC EARTH! The world is an amazing place full of stories, beauty and natural wonder. Here you'll find 50 years worth of entertaining and thought-provoking natural history content. Dramatic, rare, and exclusive, nature doesn't get more exciting than this.

Tortoises: all politely cram in together so they can share shade Humans: selfishly buy up every natural resource that exists and then sell it for the highest price possible
@Ninjanimegamer
@Ninjanimegamer Месяц назад
In nature the land is not owned, but shared, and the native Americans kept this philosophy. When the English offered the NAs wampum for land, the NAs thought the English were foolish, because no one can buy land, but the NAs accepted the wampum (considered money) unknowingly, and they were executed and driven off the land. Every lake is now private and no one can use it unless you have property close by. How ridiculous! When land and water can't be owned, greed finds a way. It's the same greed that has taken, used, destroyed, and polluted this earth. So sad😢
