Lots of ppl on here don’t have that box and talk crap like they are some pros , in reality they don’t know what they’re talking talking about ! I just got the box and I’m very impressed!! The extra boost is unreal, I’m even suprised I didn’t expect it to be as good. Technology is definitely evolving in the automotive industry and what these boxes can do these days a remap would do maybe for way more money $ ,
They work. They work well for folk leasing a car for here they just can’t get it remapped. Because it’s not theirs. The good boxes deliver power gains whether folk like it or not. Plenty of remaps have been nowhere near a rolling road either. The best way to tell is by driving the thing anyway in the real world. On real roads. Plenty of duff remake around that brick ECUs. The boxes can be taken out and flung in the nearest bin if it’s not working out. No great drama. But they do work. Some work better than others. Some cars work better with them than others. It probably depends on how did the work on each engine work whether a box is enough or a total remap. Or whether you need to spend money on hardware to accompany it all.
Hi Jay yes after watching LLF and seeing his M4 fitted with one, I said yes let’s give it a go and had one fitted to my Audi S5 convertible and my god what a difference!! Absolutely love it 😍and what a professional company and install . Highly recommended 😁👌🚗
I remember the good old days, when you would pay perhaps £500 for basic mods on a car and get maybe +5 bhp (if you were lucky), or £2-4k on cams/manifolds/exhaust etc. and get perhaps +30 bhp. I don't miss the good old days.
@@Stabby666 True, but a 10 year old T was repairable. Modern electronic wonder machines will be uneconomic to fix as the expensive faults develop and multiply. I owned a 10 year old Mitsubishi gto, never again will I buy a supercar, it cost me thousands. Give me a wave next time you overtake a model T.
Bootmod3 is the way forward for BMW tuning. Do remember Jay that BMW can always find out that one of their engines has been mapped. They have many ways of confirming this and there is no way that this can be hidden from them.
A tuning box isn't a remap....my fathers brother own a tuning company... boxes leave no trace... ECU will only record that the boost has spiked but won't know how because the boxes go after the ECU.
A very well thought out product and a great price point I've seen a few videos on this box inc Rickys LLF think the guys at tdi tuning are genuine petrol heads and have invested a lot to get it right. Great video keep up the hard work.
Cool sexy drive by shot :D to be honest it really does add to the video, I dunno how hard it is to do those shots but certainly makes your content look a league ahead.
Well done then, looked really cool apart from the obvious piss take of trying to look cool bouncing to the music with your hand at the top of the wheel :D
Brilliant again . Good time. Don't need more than 500bhp . If anyone wants more and more , better to buy a more powerful car. Perfect power and great review. Little by little you WILL be a BMW fan
What an incredible bit of kit. A lot of tuning options can be a bit Halfords, and ruin the looks, sound and driveability of a car (not what you want to do with a lovely M4) The fact that this looks completely standard just adds to the appeal (screw insurance companies!)
@Ron P if it's easily removable I wouldn't bother, insurance companies take the piss (and I've had over 20 years of that!) The only time I've ever had them inspect the car, they didnt turn up for 2 weeks so I would have had plenty of time. Obviously, if it's obvious it's been fitted then tell them, we all know those pricks will wriggle outta paying any way they can.
@Ron P yeah you're right, it's just my experience with insurance companies has never been anything other than a pain in the arse. We've all spent a load of money on insurance and the times that you actually need their help they drag their heels when paying out. I had someone reverse into my car and smashed my door and rear quarter panels in. The insurance company that I claimed against did nothing but mess me about the whole time, with the insurance inspector guy talking to me like I was an idiot. I was fairly young (very early twenties) and was driving a ten year old Astra GTE and he did nothing but slag the car off and seem like he was looking for a way to not pay out. I've crashed before (my fault) and it took them ages to pay out, it was only a cheap second hand motor, so we're not talking big money! Again, they messed me about leaving me with no wheels for way too long as I needed the car for work. I've had plenty of other bad experiences (i can only remember one occasion when they were helpful!) and paid out loads of money to them. They're very quick to take the money, not so quick to help!!!
@Ron P yeah, you are right. They just @#$% me off haha!!! With some other young RU-vidrs doing crazy mods to cars, doubling standard power etc, I wonder if they declare the mods. That IS insanity, as they often detail EXACTLY what theyve done to their cars and drive like nutters on public roads. I dont think it'll be long until we get the first of these RU-vidrs crashing at huge speed into someone killing them (or themselves, or both!) and the police will have all the evidence they need for a conviction on the RU-vid channel.
@Ron P I really enjoy Living, but I can see it ending badly for him one way or the other. Those motors they are belting along in are staggeringly quick, in a different league to me and my mates doing 120-130mph down the motorway (and that was dangerous enough!) These motors must be getting to the 200mph mark, and getting there incredibly quick. It would be a different matter if they were belting down an old airfield or whatever, but this is on public roads with other cars. I've got a wife and 3 kids now, and drive a shitty Focus, but I wouldn't take it kindly if one of these guys plowed into me. The police have nicked people before by IDing the road being raced on, and then timed how long it takes to e.g. go from the bridge to the 3rd lamp post, the coppers go and measure the distance and then it's easy to know pretty accurately how fast these guys were going. As you mention, everyone wants to be RU-vid famous nowadays and are often willing to do very silly things to get there. In my naughty earlier years, we wouldn't dream of filming any silliness because if the law get hold of it you've basically nicked yourself!!! Although a nicking would be better than a fatality.
For an extra 100ftlb shouldn’t that be a kick up the arse compared to standard regardless of how smooth it is? Maybe it didn’t come across in the vid or i don’t appreciate how modern fast stuff do their business.
I can just imagine the knock control going mental in the M4 with tunning box. I'd never fit a device like that to a turbo petrol car.. Whatever about diesels, but petrol... Time will tell
Put one on my BMW X3 M40i and noticed absolutely zero difference. I noticed no increase in power, and after driving several 200 miles plus trips on different settings and then with it off fuel mileage was within 1/10 of a gal. So essentially it did nothing. I would love to see someone actually post a real dyno with one of these. I seriously doubt more then 15-20hp if that. About all this can do is increase fuel rail pressure. Now I'm having trouble getting a refund under their 30 days policy which I met.
The problem with adding more power to standard parts is that more power equates to more stress and more wear on parts. This is the reality, parts will wear more and therefore break more often. Might still be reliable but parts will break more often.
@@Birmingham_racing It could be in 10 years time or tomorrow but when you run more power through anything it will wear more. Only way to tell is to either inspect the parts or to have an oil analysis done. Chances are everything will be fine but there's a good chance you will see abnormal wear. I would like to add that BMW or any engineer isn't thick they would know straight away weather or not a cars output has exceeded a normal un-tuned state. Especially when you increase power output by about 100HP which is a rather large increase.
@@Birmingham_racing bora 1.9 PD130? My dad and uncle have the same car but standard. My uncles one has around 180k miles and only thing he's had is the turbo veins sticking which was temporary fixed using Mr muscle oven cleaner and recently my dad changed a part of the auto gearbox as it wouldn't change to second gear when cold. Forgot the name of the part he changed but it was around £300 and luckily fixed the issue.
I like the packaging of the 4 convertible, but it’s way too heavy and I prefer a soft top, and I prefer NA with a manual. E46 then, but it’s one of the least rigid convertible chassis, you can’t win.
Will Maddox can you explain? A generic map is not a one fits all is it? I thought each engine performs differently and as such a custom tune on a dyno was needed to ensure a correct power curve?
Yeah that's something I've heard also. Like you said every car performs differently even when comparing the same car and engine. I was looking at a remap company which can add 30hp to my 1.6 diesel engine. For £150 you can send the ECU off to them where they map it. Recently the main guy now has a place in Bristol which can now do a live map by reading the cars parameters through a laptop and map it accordingly. This for £200. Sounds better to spend the extra £50 and get it down there.
What’s it like , left in a setting after time does the ecu pull it back in line ,with time ? Be good to see a dyno then some mileage covered then the dyno results again all in the same setting ?
£400 is a remap price. Never fit a tuning box on a decent car. Get it on the rollers pay a bit more, and sleep well in the knowledge that it’s safe 👍 Nice video though.
If it's a new car on finance and you take it to the dealership chances are they'll reset it back to factory settings. Remaps good if you own the car or it out of warranty.
Interesting they quote 520bhp with this box. I had my 435d on rollers at Surrey Rolling Road (great result 410bhp) and a guy had his m4 there with a tdi box. On the rollers his car made 495 bhp. No where near 520bhp. I think to get 520bhp on an m4 you need catless downpipes and a proper custom ecu tune
shame james, I was looking forward to getting an "unbiased" opinion on this tuning box, until you said the car was not yours !!!! come on james, you CANT recommend a product like this, how do you know T.D.I TUNING have not carried out a whole list of modifications to the car without your knowledge, IF you had put the box on your car and YOUR car only, this would have been a good review...……………………………...
@@JayEmmOnCars ...so.....when you "do" review this tuning box again, this "will of course" have been purchased by your good self with your OWN funds via a online website, it WONT be a freebie supplied by the manufacturer, will it ? I'm not having a dig at you, your human, like me and EVERYONE LOVES a freebie .... But when freebies ARE given, neutrality goes out the window and favouritism creeps in ,it's extremely difficult to remain TOTALLY unbiased when you have a 500 quid given gratis in your mitts, true or false ???????
It's not my car it belongs to a friend. Honesty is important to me and I have always bern very clear and open about what I have been given if reviewing anything - it's up to you if you decide you don't want to believe me
@@JayEmmOnCars so "your friend" will have purchased this with their own funds? I'm NOT accusing you of being dishonest in ANY shape or form, just asking for a level playing field....is that fair comment ?
This is a waste if you're out of warranty. Bootmod3 all the way. Why have to trick your ecu when you can actually flash it and get a smother power delivery and more power.
This below link was a good watch I thought. I wouldn’t have one, for example whacking up fuel pressure as a work around to increasing fuelling sounds like a terrible idea: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QNu17zA1sRg.html Does this tdi box work the same way?
My least favourite M car unfortunately, particularly in convertible form. I don't know if it's just me but these turbocharged 'M' engines sound crap, particularly from the outside. Like a chavved up Focus ST with a 'popping' map.
@@jackthehat8593 Totally agree, the performance is eye-wateringly impressive but in my opinion it's actually *too* much power (Never thought I'd say that..!) . I'd sooner rather have an E46 M3 and be able to exploit all of the power on UK roads and not have to worry about spiky torque delivery upsetting the balance and traction at the rear. The problem is them pesky hot hatches making 300bhp, the M cars have to up their game proportionally.
@@spainter1985 hammer meet nail meet head. 100% agree, though I aren't an M3 man myself, having owned two E39 M5's and currently having an E60 M5, admittedly broken 😂. I would quite like an F10 M5 but I aren't 100% sure why as I really like the v10.
I have an F10 M5 tuned by Evolve and dynoed at a gnats cock under 700bhp, decatted . A twin turbo 4.4L V8 certainly does not sound “crap” to me, and the performance is way ahead of any of the old N/A M cars (of which I’ve owned several). If you consider over 500bhp “too much power” it’s time to swap your man-card for a pair of slippers...
Well, Cletus, even though you're a walking advertisement for Pedigree Chum, this wasn't a dog's dinner. Boom, boom‼️ On the other hand, with your haute coiffure, you definitely have a whiff of the canine haute cuisine.🐶🐶🐶 From the way the graphs mirror each other, it looks like they've only increased the fuel flow. More fuel means more torque; power is a product of torque and revs, therefore, more torque at the same revs gives more power. The actual distribution of torque and power are nearly identical.🤔🤔🤔 It would be instructive to compare fuel consumption between the various "tuning" devises.🧐🧐🧐 It's a shame that a great channel like yours is being polluted by Brexit buffoons.🤬🤬🤬 All in all, another very fine video.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
@@redarmy1778 I can't understand how people can be as stupid as you. Also, your ignorance of the approaching economic disaster is unforgivable. You're just a pig shit thick clown.
"Silly straight line antics" perfectly describes this type of pseudo testing. In a world where you often get what you pay for, this £400/100bhp box beggars belief unless accompanied by video inserts of dyno evidence or other product developers data. Frankly, this presentation and its sycophantic references to TDI Tuning cannot but give the impression of desperation for channel content.
@@JayEmmOnCars Oh, and by way of comic addendum, the waffle regarding the power increase was akin to the sequence when HAL, the computer in the movie 2001, when it was being disconnected, "I can feel it...I can feel it, Dave."
