Your doing a good job regardless of all the little problems It’s part of farming and you have to deal with the horse owners and that’s a headache on it’s own. Keep up the good work 🤟🏼

My step dad was a mechanic ,when I started working on things at his place he would tell me even I was not finished at the end of the day, to spend a half hour and put all the tool where they belong and also clean them up so you would always know where they are.

Sounds crazy busy. But just know you are not alone. The same thing happens all over the farming world. Breakdowns (new machines are the worst) weather, long hours. Some people wonder why anyone would want to live in Canada. But understand this a 90-100 day season and then rest. You guys down south are crazy you farm all year. I love it once the ground is frozen again.

Been hay since the late 60s. When hay is in short supply someone will always be happy to purchase it. Believe me let those constant complainers go there are just so many good livestock people who buy hay we decided a long time ago deal with the good ones. Makes life so much happier.

For what it's worth, it will benefit you both short and long term to educate your customers on using laboratory results to evaluate fee quality. I personally have seen beautiful green alfalfa bales that tested terrible against lesser color appealing alfalfa. The nutritional values including palatability will give your customers far better results in their livestock as applied to their rations. Personally, I think the recreational livestock industry should transition to nutrient value rations rather than appearance.

Beware of tempting fate, I thought this year couldn't get any worse with this drought we have been in then after making the hay, shearing and starting weaning my dad started to feel uncomfortable and loss of appetite within a month he had died of stomach cancer. But having farmed since he could walk I think it was the way he would have liked to go out with his boots on opposed to sitting in a nursing home

Well I've been in the cattle and hay business for pretty much my whole life. I seldom ever get home before 8pm. Employees are never, ever going to do things like your family will. Long hours are part of the game we all chose to play. Things break and hours get longer . That's the reason 1.5% of the population is in agriculture, it's not for everyone. I sure wouldn't spend $800000 on hay that may or may not be better than yours. Sell what you have and be happy with that. Or big bale it , a cow or a cow man worth his salt could care less if it's green or not

I'm still trying to figure out what all you've lost, found, and have the potential to find or loose. LOL Sucks when things go down and parts get lost that shouldn't (lost the battery cover to something the other day. Who knows where it's at). You'll do fine on your hay. Just make sure to go bail more to go with it.
@tomb.1972
@tomb.1972 2 года назад
It's not just simply to go bale more hay, when you have a business as this with: Hay, farming, trucking, store and no telling what else he has going on, to order parts for a specific need and for employees to misplace and to be thrown away is the like saying to you, "give me one hundred of your own hard earned money and let someone else set it on fire and watch it go bye bye". Much less equipment being down and of no use! Just farming economics.

If you quit catering to picky people and they understand that this is farming. I know that sounds like a butt, but people have to understand how things work. You store all your hay under roof and is great quality stuff. Don't sweat the small stuff. God bless the farmers.

I’m sorry but in the farming community regardless of the region not a question of Rain is a question of when. Same thing with drought. Price is same thing. Look at the Wilkers. Look at farming fixing and fabricating. We are all in the same boat regardless of farming or businesses related to Farming.
@BalesHayFarmandRanch
