When I get a major reading slump I just grab one of my favorite books and don't even try to read something new or "supposed to" read. My go to is usually Persuasion by Jane Austen or Jane Eyre . Sometimes, you just need to be reminded of what is a good book and how nice it is to relax into a familiar, well written story.

I think we all hit a slump every once in a while but you’ll pull out of it when you find a 5 star that you can’t put down. I like to read a few short books when this happens to me. I just finished The Postcard and loved it and starting on Atomic Anna next.

Team slump. Right there with you. Pale House Devil was perfectly good. It wasn't a 5 star....but it was good.

I hope you have a 5-star reading experience soon! I had two this month. One was Salt to the Sea and the other was The Light Pirate, which I think is my favorite book of the year thus far. I knew next to nothing about it going in and I’m so glad that was the case because I kept being surprised.

I checked out a couple of middle grade books that you’ve recommended before. I should finish Don’t Want to Be Your Monster by Deke Moulton today. I’m enjoying it. And next up is Across So Many Seas by Ruth Behar. We all go through slumps…just hang in there, you’ll get through it eventually ❤

I just finished the mansbach book and really loved it. Made me laugh out loud. My book club didn't care for it though. I've been in a slump too.

I read a bit more last night, and it might be growing on me. I have laughed out loud a few times. But I can see how it could be polarizing.

Lovely vlog! I’ve had my eye on Goddess of Filth, so it was great hearing your take on the story. 🖤

P.S. I’ve been in a slumpy way as well, even though I’ve enjoyed most of the books I’ve been reading. I think this time of year my mind is on all things… except for reading, apparently. lol

It's definitely been a busy season! I'm looking forward to slower days and less busy schedules this summer.

This is honestly how I feel about reading most of the time. I read pretty slowly so it's a big commitment to finish a book and I often dnf things almost before I even start them. I always feel like I have a lot on my mind and with social media I get majorly distracted too. I do feel that many current books are blatantly politically motivated and I usually want to read to get away from all of that, and I need books to really pull me into the story preferably with fully developed characters and some suspense. My favorite genre is crime drama (i.e. Shetland) and mystery and I know that's not your thing so I'm sorry I don't really have a recommendation to help you! Have you ever read the Mayfair Witch series by Anne Rice? I wasn't that into her vampire series but I loved the Mayfairs. Did you ever end up reading Snowblind? I thought that was so much like reading Stephen King. I've also heard that the Holly Black Folk of the Air series is a fun read especially if you enjoy mean faeries!

Yeah, I don't generally mind politically motivated books, but I strongly dislike when it feels too on the nose. Within the first 20 pages I had a pretty good idea of what the author wanted me to think and where the story was going to go. I read one of the Mayfair witches books when I was in middle school! I have no memory of it though, I'll have to look them up! I haven't read Snowblind yet - will definitely try to get to it soon. I enjoy King's writing style, so perhaps that's what I need right now!
