Can Tyvar take Tree of Perdition + Triskaidekaphobia to Triumph? | Against the Odds | Explorer MTG 

I think Seth should take a few days off so he can finally get over his illness.

This is one of those times where MTGA's quirk of displaying creatures' toughness as (toughness-damage dealt to creature) really does players a disservice. It would be very easy to assume the tree had 9 or 10 toughness because it blocked and then suddenly you get put in triska-kill range.

That final game against greasefang had a pretty big punt. Greasefang's reanimate ability targets so you should've used ooze to fizzle it instead of assassin's trophy to kill greasefang.

I wondered how this deck would beat a painland, and it turns out the answer is "opponents not realizing the deck can't beat a painland"

Okay, Seth I played against a deck today that I swear you have to play! Especially after this. Tree of perdition + offsprings revenge+ plus a pinger. Exile and make a 1/1 tree of perdition with haste. Activate set opponents life to 1 and then ping. I was absolutely shook

I remember going to Shadows Over Innistrad prerelease. I opened To the Slaughter as my promo, little brother (12 at the time) opened Relentless Dead. He also opened a Triskaidekaphobia in one of his packs and there was a loud discussion where someone said, "if someone actually wins with that card I'll buy them a booster box!" Little brother proceeds to phobia someone, excitedly exclaims it, and booster box guy is silent.

Seth needs to get extra points for always mashing runner ups into his decks.

I know the deck is built around tyvar to get around removal spells but uh, against a mono red deck you can VERY safely play out a 0/13 creature and even use it to block. Heck, even if they whip out an embercleave on a 5/4 bonecrusher its still not big enough to kill a 0/13 tree without some burn too. I think there's some tunnel vision going on that game 1

In general, against greasefang is it better to kill the greasefang before or after the reanimate trigger goes on the stack? The trigger doesn't crew, so if your opponent doesn't have enough power in play without the greasefang, you're basically forcing them to regrow the parhelion. I'm just not sure if they'd rather have it in the bin or in the hand

Not sure about the white splash for moon-blessed cleric, I think I'd rather go with more diabolic intent. Pair it with deathrite shaman and power it with stitcher's supplier, use fiend artisan instead of fauna shaman, and add a cat/oven package for lifegain+blocks to try and widdle to 13 the normal way. Like you said, there's a lot of ways to get arouund 13 life, so I've always thought you should try to get them to 13 the normal way and then keep Tree as the backup plan to set them back up to 13 if they get too low.

First opponent barely didn't punt. As you used the Tree in response to their Viashino Pyromancer being cast, rather than its ETB, they could have targetted themselves with it to put them down to 11. I mean, you would have just activated the second Tree after that, but at least it puts the onus on you then to not screw up, as opposed to just giving up the game. All that said, seemed like Seth tried a bit to punt in game one. Could have played Tirskenchantment way earlier just for the lifegain. It's monored. Soul-Scar Mage was the only card that really put your combo in danger, and even then the tree is then eating burn that would otherwise go elsewhere, and between its massive body and your lifegain you could probably just attrition them out if they do successfully stop the combo.

Adding Meathook Massacre would be great to this since it's searchable by Cleric and wold be able to wreck the mono red matchup.

Match 4 game 3 was lost to the auto-tapper, when you were forced to use trophy on the greasefang because you didn't have 2 green mana open. If you had manually tapped to keep 2 green open you could have saved it and exiled both vehicles from the graveyard instead. For some reason it prioritized keeping white open when you had no white cards or costs anywhere.

Pretty sweet deck. But a stone cold 0 when it comes to interaction (or anti-interaction like wrath protection in aggro, at least).

Wondering if Seth has seen the Tree of Perdition - Mindlink Mech combo yet? Needs any other creature with at least one power. Use it and Tree to crew the Mech, then the Mech gets the tree's ability but with 3 toughness. Instant take opp down to three, then kill however you'd like.

When I first saw Tree of Perdition I wondered when the Triskaidekaphobia shenanigans would begin Also in the vid description you put "comboing of" instead of "comboing off"

similar to this, have you ever tried a deck that uses tree of perdition and offspring's revenge? revenge exiles the tree from your graveyard and makes a 1/1 copy with haste, so you can send your opponent to 1 life right away

I wonder if some of those video edits cut off the curse words haha I would have after that mono red match

im kinda confused how having haste on the tree speeds it up, you have to wait til your upkeep for the tris trigger to go on the stack so no matter what u have to wait until your next upkeep at which point you put a stop and tree can tap anyway b/c its your next turn. if it was at the beginning of your end step i'd get it but its an upkeep trigger. what am i missing?

Wouldn't Lion Sash be better in this deck than Ooze? For one thing, you can put it on a Tree or a Goose and start beating down

For tree of predation, the strength incarnate can make its toughness 0 but it doesn't die so I think you might. Be able to kill with those two cards idk though it just would say 0 0 might still keep 13 tough ess

Ramunap Ruins is each opponent. Has no interaction with Tree here. 41:15 Greesefang targets, you don't need to use trophy, just eat the one they target. Which means you would have had trophy up to kill the parhelion they cast later. !punt

9:20 it wouldn't matter if they left up the ruins since you had 2 trees out. You would just tap the other tree once they took the damage. I am surprised you also miss so many on board tricks in this game I lost count.

I don't see how Tyvar makes this combo go any faster Sure it's more flexible to be able to do it with summoning sickness, but can't you just respond to the Triskadekaphobia trigger with your tree on upkeep anyways? It will have lost summoning sickness by then.
