In this video we add a toolbox to the tongue of our trailer to store our setup equipment and supplies. We had to re-configure our tongue to accomidate the toolbox.
I did the same installation last year. I used a different tool box (a bit deeper). I went to a tool box because my electrical needs required more space to hold my batteries, new bus bars and cables for my inverter and shunt. I have a 2019 Rockwood Mini Lite and because of the "bulge" of the nose my box couldn't be raised like you did to allow the lid to be opened. I chose to move the brackets of my Anderson hitch back behind the box and used a couple of turnbuckles to extend the chains. The lid opens enough now to allow access and remove the batteries. My plastic tank cover still fits on but it is a snug fit.
Moving the Anderson brackets is s great idea. I was kind of afraid to do that but the more I think about it I wonder if you get better sway control by having the brackets back and extending the cables? I just did not have the room to put my inverter and batteries in any box that would fit on my tongue. I ended up putting them under my microwave in the space behind the electric panel. Not ideal situation either but it works. Thanks for commenting!
@@noworriesrving3743 I put my inverter in the front pass-through and have 2/0 cable about 4 ft. to the box. As for the sway, my trailer performs just as it did before the extension. I tried using extra chain but couldn't get the chain tight enough for the weight distribution. With the turnbuckles I can get it snug before turning the nut on the bracket.
@@ronpearson1790 I have seen other Rivers put their inverter in the pass-thru. That was my backup plan if I couldn't cram everything inside. The Anderson hitch is somewhat flexible for you. At least you figured out a way to make it work.
Have duplicated several of your mods. Same TT in the 2021 year. I haven't seen you do a rear observation camera yet. Is that in the works? Best regards, Bob
We have considered this and we may yet add a rear observation camera. We do have a bumper carrier we drag around and it would be nice to keep an eye on it. Good suggestion.
