I’m in the UK and I bought a 45 year old German fire truck with a rod knocking engine for scrap value from marketplace a few years ago, swapped a big Diesel engine into it and entered it into a rally from Budapest in Hungary to Freetown in Sierra Leone. I was asked about out it on Hungarian National tv where I explained that it was a drunken marketplace purchase and the only overlanding modification we made was to replace the fire pump in the back with a beer fridge. Anyway, we completed our 10750 mile journey in it, rescued a motorbiker 10 miles from the nearest road in the Sahara desert, drank a whole load of beer and woke up on the roof most mornings. We’re taking it to Mongolia next. Like your school bus, I highly recommend purchasing a spares or repair 1977 Mercedes fire truck for similar occasions 😂
Hell yes dude, I'm from Finland and bought a 1969 mercedes L 406 D fire department van with an engine swap from our equivalent marketplace last year, and I'm fixing it up to be a party bus for next year.
I am hoping you have started a trend for all Nascar events! Just imagine, a bunch of grandmas getting out of the house, trying to take the church bus to play bingo, but mistakenly getting picked up by Kevin and Mook on what looks to be a familiar church bus, and taking them instead to the Nascar track with the whole crew on the Save Our Beer Ministries bus. As any kind (now possibly drunk) grandma would do, they begin baking breadsticks and spaghetti for their newly found drunk friends. They knit sleeping bags, and curtains for the bus, crocheting drivers Cool Suits and Doilies and curtains for the inside of those race cars, etc. Hey, This isn't the JYD comment you were looking for, but the one you needed.
I'm not, by any means, a NASCAR guy (i'm not even from the USA, and a WRC and WEC guy), but this seems like a LOT OF FUN! Greetings from Chile, thanks for the laughs and the good content every week Kevin & co.
This looks like some heckin fun! Good friends, beers, meeting cool people, the race itself... This video brought me some good vibes, like if I've been there, even though I live in another country with a different culture. Thank you JYD!
It looked like some fun may have been had. We aren't allowed to have that much fun up here in Canada. I think those were C-130 Hercs, not B-52 Buffs. You can tell by the Hercs having 4 props and the Buffs having 8 jets.
I absolutely love the unadulterated calamity and chaos that ensues when y'all go to the Kasas City Speedway. Please keep this going for many years to come. Great to see everyone having fun. I'd love to one day come visit and party in the infield. But being across the planet does not help here ;) The bus is awesome and I'd love to see more of it on the channel. Perhaps since you have that other bus too, you can still sell the yellow machine and fixer-upper the other one for next year? Rattle can paintjob with some JYD and other channel decals etc and a few more party features to work on all year. Wondering...what engine swap would make sense 🤣
This video made me feel like I was having as much fun as you all were. Also, I never realized how much I need an old school bus, and well... friends. Well done!
You being woken up by the track workers reminded me of my Daytona foray back in the eighties. My buddy and me travelled down from Ohio in his Chevy pick up. I was awakened by the sound of the IROC Camaros decelerating down the back straight blasting their Chevy engines through 180 degree headers! Still my favorite alarm clock!
It could be a revival retriever too. A camp/tool storage area at the front and a car deck at the rear. I can picture it pulling up at the farm or shop and shitting out another Ford truck project for Mook🤣
I want a school bus with which to move from NC to OR, but can't find one anywhere near that cheap near Asheville NC. They start at around 4 grand here.
EPIC! I think the BEER bus deserves some upgrades for next year, so it can be the best it can be!, Some bunks, properly affixed aircon, beer on tap (mini bar), and perhaps dropdown curtains for those under the bus... 😃
Ever since I caught the interview on our local news here in KC with Kevin, I have been waiting for this one to drop. Didn't disappoint really enjoyed watching these master engineers & carpenters at work. 😂
You and Pole Barn Garage are my two favorite car RU-vidrs and have really taught me so much and got me into the joy of classic cars honestly anyone you have made a video with thank you and thank you for introducing me to all these amazing content creators
This looks like it would've been SO much fun! Dude with the striped overalls and the traffic cone-beer bong was HILARIOUS and really inventive. All the bus needs is strip lighting.
Hey "JD", Been watchin' you and "Mook" for some time and both channels are a blast. You really give an "Old Man" good vibes about his own past and a hopeful feeling about what young people can do. I do want to say...BUILD THIS BUS!!! Make it THE Race platform for your channel. So many projects and videos can come from this thing. Best wishes to you and yours and keep up the great content. Lu from AZ.
Please keep the bus and make it a series of upgrading every year or make the ultipmate party wagon with it. that would be awesome to see especially with John and the guys helping while "having a hydration session".
It looks like you all had a really wonderful weekend! Thank you for taking the time to record it all and share it with the world. You guys are awesome!! (and gals!!)
It looks like ya'll had an incredible time. perhaps next trip, you should build some bunks inside the bus. that platform was a grand idea. The road cone/beer bong was a stroke of genius .
That Chevy bus looks like a keeper. Judging by the sound it's a diesel. Checking wikipedia there were 5 options for engines. 3 of them were Chevy Bigblocks from 366ci to 496ci. The diesel options were either a Caterpillar 3116 or 3126. The 3126 is what Deboss Garage is putting in his F350. I would really like to see this bus be the Nascar bus. Over the years slowly improve it. Paint it, sound dampening, turn it into a RV as you want it. The 3126 is a sick engine.
@@911delorean The options for engines in the Topkicks and Kodiaks of that era were the tall deck 366 and 427s or in the 99 and newer trucks the vortec 454 and 8.1 toward the end of the bodystyle. The diesels offered were the cat 3116 mechanical up til 1997 or the cat 3126 electronic heui starting in 98. There is a cat 3116 heui, but it's rare. The 3116 is a 6.6l and the 3126 is a 7.2l. I've been researching the 3116 since I've been thinking about swapping it into a light duty gmt400 dually myself. They actually only weigh about 1200 lbs. Which is only like 150 lbs more than a 5.9 12 valve.
If I were you I would keep the school bus and I would design a bigger rooftop platform so you can have more room on top. The other thing I would do is get that color-changing strip lighting and put it all over the inside of the bus so at night you could turn it on and have it change colors. I would put some bunk beds inside of the bus and have a table on the platform so you can sit up top and have a table and your chairs so you can eat and watch the races.
You guys are massive dorks yet beyond awesome and funny af. Always makes my day better when you upload a video especially as random and crazy as this one
Looks like that first one was in the process of being turned into a skoolie. Looks like the floors were coated, and the inner skins and insulation were in the process of being removed before it was given up on.
Dude, all I can say is, thank you for taking me back to my 20’s. We had a “crew” too back then and y’all know how to have a great time. 🍻. I need to add, I’m glad he modified the cone from eye holes to fill face. That was throwing some crazy vibes at first. 😂😂😂
i had a blast just watching you guys and gall have fun , so i hope you all remember this day as the one that was the sleeper dudes day! you all made me laugh so hard ,my wife just looked at me as i was drunk on a nascar race!! thank you all , so much .
Dunno that first bus has the base for good content completely redo the mechanics get beds made so you don’t have to sleep under it and take it to a race further away than the Kansas speedway or on revivals and save the speedway sh heap plan for just Kansas
Love the group of you guys at these races, John is a nut but Dalton just seems to bring a little something extra out when he is with you guys at all the different events! I wanna know what he gave the nice lady that gave you the pasta? LOL Your audio must have cut out.....haha
We do basically the same thing for 4 or 5 days in the campground at Brainerd International Raceway every August when the NHRA pro drag racers come to town. I never missed a year for almost 20 years... but I have missed a few recently. It's a damn good time!
@Junkyard Digs Absolutely! It's a damn good time! However, it has gotten more expensive over the years. BIR is awfully proud of their Campground these days and they are not afraid to charge for it.
@@JunkyardDigs Do it. Get the International fixed up so it drives properly and is less obnoxiously loud, then bomb up there. Either that, or have Dalton bring the Bluebird up.
I have a question for you. I don't know if you have made an update on this but, are you going to do another year of farming? its ok if you don't I just found that series very interesting. it was also very fun to watch. please respond if you see this, Thank You.
Ahh Yes, an outing with friends... Lol! Always far too much fun, just need an AWNING! We did a bus, back in the '80-90's, to MIS with a group of friends (2 NASCAR, 1 INDY 500 & A fall INDY race 250, with ASA & Super VEE's ). Great way to spend a long weekend!! Glad y'all had fun, & got us chuckling & reminded about good memories... Thanx !
I absolutely enjoyed this video nice to see you and your friends hanging out partying and having a blast 😀 can't wait till next video you should keep the bus fix it up your way for fun and road trips 😀
Dang that video was so funny! I have to say, I think John looks like a young Gallagher the watermelon smashing comic! Looked like so much fun. Great job guys.and girls
This, 1000% this. I haven't laughed so many times at one of their videos, and that includes the race of clapped out GM trash at the farm. Man what a good time!
I would love to see you guys continue to use the bus. building it out gradually lol. (could try to convert the other one into a crazy car hauler but ye)
As someone who works in television, its awesome to see that someone came out to cover these shenanigans. Sometimes those places are so stuffy and don't air fun stuff like this. Great video folks!
@@JunkyardDigs don't tempt me with a good time! I'm not even into NASCAR, but seeing these videos every year makes me want to buy some tickets and come party! You all are an absolute riot. That track is only a 35 minute drive away.... 😁
Keep the bus! Next time paint it florescent orange with huge Junk Yard Digs logo on top! Put one of those portable canopy things on top of the platform so you're not in the sun all day.
Guys I really enjoyed your video of the bud build at the NASCAR track. It brought back great memories of many visits to several tracks on the east coast. Dover camp grounds being the most rowdy. Looking forward to next year’s!
Hey Kevin, me and a bunch of my friends were at that same race. Was the best race of the season with 14 cautions. I’ll have to try out camping next year.
The bus with the added roof platform was the coolest idea you guys came up with thus far 🔥 they should be illegal to have as much fun as you guys had 🎉 great video as always and keep having fun 👍✌️🇺🇲
