On this Sally’s Speed Shop episode, we begin to build the engine for our ‘65 Mustang Fastback. We use the bottom end of the engine we found in a museum and throw on a pair of heads that actually came with the Fastback. Will it work? We have no idea but, we at least put on some fresh paint so it looks nice. Follow along, because once we have a running engine, we’re starting on the car.
Walk in obedience to all that the Lord has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deuteronomy 5:33

I like that ScotchBrite-Cotter Pin idea! Brilliant! Great to see all the activity professionally supervised by Mobey and Peanut. I had a dachshund a half a century ago; Peanut looks like a tall...and very cute...dachshund. 🤣🤣This was a fun family video! Much aloha to you all.

Peanut thinks she's a Doberman. She's half beagle, half Yorkie and 100% mischief. Hope things at going well Jim. Thanks for watching!

Love the dirt cheap small block Ford build! brings back memories... couple things I see in the video: the heads you installed look like 68 302 4 barrell heads, as they say 302 and look like a C8OE casting number. they are a 1 year only head casting number. have the early 289 style chambers, listed at 53 or 54CC. those heads have some port work in the intake and exhaust, as well as the screw in rocker studs and an upgrade valve spring and retainer package. the bottom end looks like a basic 289 2V piston with that dish in the center. also, the shorter head bolts on the exhaust side are not bling, should put some sealer on them. check the timing chain, it original it will be the nasty nylon coated cam gear that likes to shed teeth and lock up the oil pump. Rock auto should have a std timing set for $25 please get a heavy duty oil pump drive shaft, for $15 it's cheap insurance. cannot wait to hear it run!

Also, we didn't mention it in this video but, it's bored .040 over.

When I first saw the screw in studs, I was thinking hi-po heads. The old nylon coated timing gears usually chip and end up in the oil pan or the pickup screen. Awesome video. Looking forward to seeing it in the road@@OldTimeRevival

Answer. 351w. Even stroke it. Many combinations. Other than 408c or 427ci. Which are street able with pump gas. Like 393ci.

Keep an eye out for Open. Letter Cobra Billy Bar Valve Covers... I had a set on an old 289 and they sold on ebay for $980. they were on a $100 engine.
