For the cost of the missile, you could probably just make a better, faster nuclear cruise missile based on custom jets and a few ACBs. I agree with Nico below that the main draw of cluster-based missiles is the health bonus provided to the cluster parts. Loading down the main huge missile with HE or EMP or Frag is kind of a waste, I think dedicating that space and cost to more submunitions might be better overall - but that's just a thought. Thank you for the video, it's always fun seeing you mess around in the designer and figure stuff out! Side Note: Because of YOU I had to go buy Starmade lol. I think I was on the free version before and had never actually bought it. I'm catching up on the changes and updates from the last couple of years!

Cool that with the health bonus, thanks for watching I will try and make a better missile system with the realization that I can't destroy the entire craft and just should do a decent cluster missile. As for nukes, thanks for the idea, never made this system but wanted to before, you comment had me thinking on how to make the ultimate nuke, so will do that sometime :) Haha did you buy starmade?!?! Survival is not great right now, but perhaps it can be fun if you are on a server, also the demo is the full game so if you wanna trick someone to try it they don't have to buy it yet, anyways much will change so don't get to comfortable with particular setups :)

harpoons can work to be a connector of the missile to the creation it was launched from so the missile just pulls missiles that reloaded if they are connected to that gantry and if you have enough of those you can cause it to infinitely shoot missiles

Amazing idea, I kind of feel like this is something we could use in a submarine to teleport missiles to over the surface!

@@GMODISM this aint my idea a youtuber found this while playing around with an orbital station and missiles he used the harpoon thinking he could drag ships into space but that happened, the youtuber was lathland

The advantages of clusters are: half the health of reinforced for a quarter the cost and any absorbed damage doesn't reduce the cluster payload, can bring lower range missiles into range (which are therefore faster) or are cheaper in the case of mines (which cannot be fooled), allows you to point thump and heat heads at the target and may cause guided heads to ignore distractions (out of detection cone), a great distraction. Disadvantages are: slow, not agile, require longer space, and initial cost is basically double (triple if using huge) for a similar payload. As such I think you should make a smaller missile in your next video aiming to take advantage of the many strengths of cluster missiles. Probably forget about putting any payload on the initial missile itself as it will soak up too much damage to do much, never mind the limitations of each damage type.

Aha, did't notice how much health to the missiles they add, I like that idea, will try to make a shorter huge missile that just spams the target with thumpers and heat missiles and see what that can do, might even be a viable system to use in campaign! Wait what, does the huge body of the missile absorb damage from detonation if it's own payload?

@@GMODISM if you meant from its own explosion it’s already exploded, if you meant from the cluster munitions, I think it is just knockback currently but I’m not sure. I meant that while it is alive it absorbs ludicrous damage which decreases any payload damage proportionally to % health lost (EX 10% health remaining = 10% damage). P.S. self guided missiles are also good as cluster munitions as distracting signatures are reduced by the angel away from forward giving the benefits of both remote and self guided missiles.

Okay I get you there, didn't know that it got its damage reduced by damage taken so really good to use clusters then and have the carrier be the damage sponge. Yeah with the guided missiles it really has a nice spread, tried that in the video but next time I think that kinetic and heat will help me max out damage, we shall try!

@@GMODISM I lost the blueprint but after testing, kinetic rockets that had a speed as close to 400m/s (when using thumper head, no fins, short thruster, etc...) had the optimum damage per material (and space) for some odd reason. You could probably get away with just the ejectors internal fuel but 1 extra tank doesn't harm the damage per material much. Hope this speeds up your testing. Forgot to mention, they must reach max speed to do the most damage so you will have to test the release distance.

I never bothered with clusters, but my version was essentially an orbital mine launcher. It was fun to use vs all the factions.

Ive been having a lot of issue with the all in one weapon controller lately. Not firing my turrets even thow they have a clear line of sight,I end up turning off fail safe is the only way it works.

Hm, yeah you can always limit turrets movements instead of failsafe :)

Im super late to this but explosion radiuses have a hard cap. I believe its something like 30-50m?

so the small missiles do x4 damage cos there is 4 of them. the warhead from small, to medium, to large does 10x more each time. So a medium warhead does 250% more damage than four small missiles. And a large missile does 2500% more damage than four small missiles. A medium galley is only 200 material. So you gotta figure out what missile does the most damage per material. I'm having trouble getting a large missile to go the 140 m/s with the 30 degree turning radius you need to shoot something down.

So I don't know exact numbers in % but they work in a way that the larger the better in terms of damage per material except huge, it has a premium cost

Sadly pacs have a hard limit of 30 seconds, 2x overclock, and 1000 meters of pipe (which is not much in 3D)

@@nicopence3148 you don't need too much to cut a ship in half. I've tested it. I can pretty much one shot any medium ship from 2.5 km away
