@@Spoondrifters I'm going to be honest with you my friends watching y'all helps take my mind off of my wife's cancer fight that in itself means the world to me thank you keep doing what you're doing
I have followed you from the beginning. Your videos have always been helpful. I’m looking to head down the ICW from New Jersey to Galveston area soon. Plan to wait till the wind shifts to blowing with me more or less in October timeframe. This video helped in that all the sails on my new to me Morgan 414 will need attention. I guess it is time for me to invest in a Sailrite LSZ-1. Perhaps we might meet in an anchorage one day. God bless you and your family. Larry
Nice job patching the main. Put together our own sails from a Sailrite kit. When the machine couldn't get thru the many layers at the cringles I took a heavy upholstery needle with thread and drove it thru with a hammer. I've also been known to drill a hole for the needle. How is the hull paint holding up? It looks a bit dull and maybe chalky or it could have been the lighting.
Yes, those thick spots get crazy! The paint has faded and gotten chalky but we just compounded and waxed it in the yard and it looks great again. It’s a one part paint that’s now 4 years old. I’d say it’s doing pretty good. 👍
Perhaps what you want is a longer D shackle rather than a lashing for that Genoa? Also the couple on Sailorama (YT channel) found a place that had second hand sails in good condition somewhere in the southern US, maybe contact them and swap ideas, they have lots of skill but a very basic budget like you guys.
It's very important for cruisers to be able to know and work on their own boats, sails, engines, electrical the entire thing. If you don't your gonna be a sitting duck if things break while out at sea. 🧐
