In this two-day Focus on the Family broadcast, Dr. David Clarke, a Christian psychologist and husband, admits his own communication struggles and gives unique, practical advice for husbands and wives. The more stress my husband is under the more he distances from me. I pray but after years I feel isolated and shut out and I try and remind him I’m HERE to lean on TOGETHER. We’ve been working on this for YEARS. It’s been harder for me a think. If God wanted him to be single, he should have stayed that way I’ve despaired at times because Satan attacks my mind and emotions at these times. “Neither is the man without the woman”.

O my God YESSSSSSS! I want to be acknowledged as a HUMAN! especially when you grew up with a not so close relationship with “dad”. And eye contact is powerful as it’s apparently so EASY for a man to spot his eyes being momentarily distracted by some not so modestly dressed “person “ outside...... it’s ALL LINKED.It’s so HARD TO LOOK AT THE WOMAN YOU MARRIED WHEN SHE TALKS? It’s just laziness. Look at this man working at it with his notebooks. That’s all we want. Some EFORT because it demonstrates what’s valuable to them. Thanks guys. So much for doing this show.

My husband doesn't even have time to listen. He will tell you to just get to the point before I can 3 words out of my mouth. I've just got to the point I don't talk, I don't want to talk, I've just shut down.

Such a wonderful understanding of how we are different and have different needs. My husband and I watched this together and will talk about this and go deeper with this. We already had a great discussion after we watched this😊🙌🏼🙌🏼💝

Oh my! Stop, Look, and Listen! ,which we all learned in kindergarten for crossing the street safely at an intersection, would also remind us of HOW we need to listen to our spouse so s/he knows we ARE really attending to what they are saying!

It's pulls more towards the opposite in our marriage. I'm more the emotional & she's the introvert. But after 22 years & a difficult last few years, the communication has been tough on both sides.

Oof too accurate 😂 I am actually only in a dating relationship at the moment but I am already seeing the potential for these things to be a thing... Grateful to God for these kinds of programs... And how God has made us differently for us to be refined and to really grow together. ❤❤

It's humorous but true. Eye contact and not twitching, meaning hands moving a lot and moving constantly in your seat, always going to check phone. Correct about needing closeness to whom I'm sharing my life with. Friends are friends not our spouse.

Its the opposite in our marriage. My husband is annoyingly talkative and I am the introvert.

Question for the Gene recording portion of this episode...why did Gene start talking to Jim prior to having the eye contact and attention she desired from him? Did she set herself up for failure by starting to share what she wanted him to pay attention to without first securing his attention? Can someone help me out

Seriously you needed to have a lesson to listen to your spouse? Why the heck are people getting married so young if they can't master this skill? Just so they can say they are divorced? If you can't talk to your partner then what makes you think you'll be able to change them when you marry? I'm probably way off subject but did everybody lose common sense.

It's called sexual attraction and confusing attraction for love. It takes time to know someone.

People think they have it all together and know enough when in reality, they know very little or nothing at all. Also, Godlessness is a major factor in divorces. They show no fruits of the Spirit: Joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, self-control, and love.
