@erichetherington9314 7 месяцев назад
@@georgechristiansen6785 I agree with you, and indeed when I wrote my last post, I figured you might make that distinction. My initial response was with regard to 'purpose 1228"'s comment above about people who "bypass Scripture because they have a private agenda." What makes this tricky is that bias and agenda are so closely linked. I assume she meant anyone who doesn't think the Bible is full ONLY of truth (and not full of folly and myth and violence, etc) has an agenda, but she reveals her own bias: Namely, that people don't agree with her about the Bible are purposely out to destroy it (or something like that). Seems to me an agenda is the plant rooted in bias; if I tend to discount much of the Bible (and based on study and research, I perceive this is a valid approach), that is, I suppose a bias. But it leads naturally to my ACTIONS of protesting the viewpoint of people like her (and other fundamentalist types). Hence, i may now have an agenda, but it is a set of beliefs, reflected upon, and then acted upon (and not a bias of which I am unaware). The word "agenda" seems to connote "nefarious plots" but in fact, my agenda could be described as doing my part to alleviate ignorance and foolish readings of a complex text, like the Bible, as opposed to just swallowing it hook, line, and sinker.

@connorfowkes2475
@connorfowkes2475 5 лет назад
I agree with this. It gets hard now a days because I think that the word of God is not as plain as we want it to be..... But it will always be the gauge in which we are in pursuit of holiness. We can disagree on issues such as this but cannot loose sight in the word of God and in the mission of Jesus. That is key and can lead us to a different call but will not lead us to a different kingdom. But in anyones life we must make sure our pursuit is not contrary to the holiness of God's word and the mission of Jesus. That may not have made sense but to explain, I'm all for women as preachers but understand that there is a line in which we must be careful. For those who are for more traditional approaches I can understand as well but their is a line that can easily be crossed. We must not taint the message of the gospel but rather let it take root in the lives of others through the story of the bible. Not use it for simply personal freedom contrary to spirit and we can not use it to control or oppress people contrary to the spirit either! I hope this made sense! Thanks for reading and pursuing the word of God!

@Dan Sutton I hear what you are saying. My opening statement is more to the comment of just follow God's word and your response adds to what I was trying to get at. I love having theological discussions but also know the best forum is not online as we ca not be in a clear back in forth but any place that can edify and people can hear/ share ideas I love. Any how what I meant by my comment is I agree with the statement of follow Gods word but the thing is it turns out a lot of times it is not follow Gods word it is follow Gods word the way I follow Gods word and it will be okay. That is why I said it is not as clear as we want it to be. To you you feel really strongly and clearly on subject matters such as this and it is clear you have done your research and read your commentaries ect and that is where following God's word has lead you. However there are others who by following Gods word reading other commentaries, reading other works of Paul and stories of Jesus that have been lead to a different stance than your self on subject matters such as this. So what I was trying to communicate in the terms of Gods word is not as clear as we want it to be is when people make the comments of when in doubt follow God there is usually a preset theological thought behind that. When someone says follow God when in doubt they are saying it with what they believe it means to follow God that is why these comments are not as simple or as clear as we want them to be. That is why I went on to say people can dis agree yet still follow God's word. Again I agree with when in doubt follow God's word and that the scriptures are the foundation but because we have have different traditions, experiences and reasoning we may not all see or agree on every concept of religion.

If you do not see it that way thats fine we just have different heremunitical and theological perpectives but i hope people can see through these comments and through topics such as the one at hand that God is bigger than ourselves and that there are different viewpoints out there that can be simitaneously rooted in God and different from your own intrepretation!

@@TheSaintberzerker There's also a scripture that says "Do not look upon the wine when it is red". Have YOU ever seen "red wine"? Oh, I sure hope not - based on that single sentence!....OR.....is there a little more to that passage of scripture? Actually, Paul had a lengthy elaboration to both the Corinthians and the Ephesians, covering both men and women. Not only that, but there are plenty of folks who use the likes of notable, biblical women like Esther, Ruth, Tabitha, Rhoda, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of Christ herself, to roll over the notion of what the topic at hand is, and using their influence as a chance that maybe women can possible preach or teach......assuming Paul was mistaken by his own feelings. Paul's account alone makes absolutely no sense without knowing what God Himself FIRST has established. Paul wouldn't even speak of such things without first knowing the Genesis account of the order described by God. Paul doesn't make rules or laws on his own. He elaborates on what is already in place. If we go by a "single" sentence, then it would appear as if Paul is overstepping the authority of God. Let's keep in mind the folks...based on my original comment...that only look for fragments and not the whole. The Bible is a whole. Without the old, you don't have the new. Without a foundation, you don't have a building. If someone is absolutely FRESH to the Bible, and that "single sentence" is all they hear or read, then all they have is a rule - spat out by some random man.

I’m not disagreeing that there is some lack of patience comments, but friend, look in the context of our modern times. With the rise of social justice affecting many churches negatively, people want the word of God proclaimed. I agree, I love context! But he should’ve answered “no” first then gone through the other info. It’s like if you live in a culture that believes in cannibalism, I hope you wouldn’t wait 10 minutes to tell them it’s wrong... I understand short attention spans is an issue nowadays, but trust me, a lot of the comments I’ve seen are people who want men of God to stand up and proudly proclaim the truth. From another perspective, it looks as if he’s laying down soft and cushy mattresses for 10 minutes to hopefully not offend any woman with his answer of “no”. That rubs people the wrong way because the world is pushing for women preachers like never before, the church needs men who can give context, but also men who will stand for the truth, even if the truth will make them look like a sexist in the eyes of the world

@@TheJs4567 Most translations including KJV says 'servant" while some others say "deacon or deaconess" Servant is one who serves or a devoted and helpful follower or supporter which can be male or female. Deacon derives from the Greek word diakonos which has 4 basic meanings "servant", "waiting-man", "minister" or "messenger". Deaconess derives from the Greek word Diakonissa which is a title of honor that is used to refer to a deacon's wife. Since the text in Romans 16:1-4 doesn't state that Phoebe was married than she's not a Deaconess. Also since she is not a man, according to 1 Tim 3:12 she cannot be a Deacon. I looked up the word servant used in Romans 16:1 and here is what Strong's had to say: (g1249) διακονος, - dee-ak'-on-os; probably from an obsolete διακω (to run on errands; compare (1377) (διωκω)); an attendant, i.e. (genitive) a waiter (at table or in other menial duties); specially a Christian teacher and pastor (technically a deacon or deaconess): - deacon, minister, servant. Takes a real man to leave his personal ambitions and instead accept a life of hardship and struggle in order to fulfill his calling and serve The Lord. Most women fail to accept or understand that a man can endure much more pain and shame than she can. However, whether or not one is to realize this, it takes a real woman to humble herself in a world where time after time men fail to meet the standards of what God originally called "a man". Still, there is PLENTY of exceptional women who far surpass MANY MANY men by leaps in intelligence and in strength, these women I'd say submit regardless because it is what their God asks and they are real enough to simply obey HIM not necessarily the men. I say there's something mighty in that alone. But on the flip side there also is exceptional men that far surpass other men and even these women. And those are the kind that I believe God calls into leadership. Not just the average male. So yes women should submit according to the bible, but men who are too eager to come to this conclusion should ask themselves if they should even be standing on that pulpit and bearing the name of pastor. SO when talking about who should be leading in the church, most men need to sit back down. Period.

Steven Irizarry lol. Sounds like you’re upset that I don’t agree that Timothy’s opinion in 1 Timothy 2:12 holds more weight than the evidence and legacy of Christ’s ministry of loving and encouraging women to spread the gospel as seen in Matthew 28:5-10, John 4 or even Romans 16. Or maybe it’s the fact that you have no authority to prevent women like me from preaching that’s got you so upset....
@PrettiMiki
@PrettiMiki 4 года назад
Steven Irizarry Steven Irizarry Unlike you, I didn’t come to a RU-vid page to argue. You wrote that entire essay in response to a sentence from me- rebuking me and calling me lukewarm, as if you’ve ever met me. Meanwhile the truth is that I came to this video to continue running from my call, only to find peace with it. I would like to thank you, as well, for your adamant condemnation continues to solidify the legitimacy of the female voice and perspective in today’s church. Also, you seem a bit confused. Since I do read and study my Bible, I would suggest scripture to refer to, but it’s clear that your conservatism will prevent you from seeing an alternative perspective and studying the text in the context in which it was written for the deepest meaning and understanding. So a few thoughts, for this last post of mine on this thread. 1. Please define what you’re actually rebuking. You’re mad about women preaching, but still say that it is not exercising spiritual authority. Pick a position. You seem to just be vindictive against women. 2. The ‘many’ in the verse you paraphrased includes men too. Be concerned about the stick in your eye and not the speck you think you’ve discerned in mine. 3. You cannot bully or guilt people into repentance. Your tactics are directly against Jesus’ example of love. Your judgment is gross and you are an example of why the church is dying today. You stand on a platform of self made righteousness. Sad to see. I reject everything you’ve said here, for many reasons, but primarily because you’ve given me examples of why you’re correct using only church doctrine and protocols. Christianity was illegal until almost 300 years after Christ’s resurrection. I wonder how many women were actually suppressed in that time, not just the ones we know of, where we were considered nothing more than walking wombs. Considering I’m actually in seminary, your pieced together argument is laughable because of its disjointed nature; lacking facts you choose to ignore because they don’t fit what you’ve been taught is truth. I would share the writings of women who defended the church and were killed for speaking out, in its formation, such as Perpetua and Felicitas and Mary Magdalene, but you would simply write them off, because just as their voices were ignored and suppressed in ancient times, you and your ilk tend to do the same. Mary was a trusted disciple who even comforted Peter and Andrew, at their request, in the early days after Christ was crucified. There’s a reason the church split after the first 8 ecumenical councils. The Eastern churches believed that as the Western churches sought to ‘define’ the faith further, it simply resulted in persecution, ie the Catholic Church of old, trickling down into the splitting of denominations we have today. Elders, bishops, etc came from this- which is irrelevant to to what I’m discussing. These titles are a result of power hungry men, seeking to justify their contempt thru twisting God’s word. You speak of the Greek word meaning servant. Ironic- because we are ALL servants. Your argument reminds me of Jesus’ words in Matthew 18. I still find it hilarious that men choose to focus on hierarchy to satisfy their egos. Finally, I pose the same questions you posed to me- do you actually read your Bible, or are you simply a record player for what your leadership has taught you? You clearly take into account that only men made decisions in forming the Bible, our beliefs and the perspectives you hold dear. So how then, can you ignore the logic that women, created as help mates, have a valid position in helping men in all- living life and understanding our spirituality? I have no quarrel with the argument of man being in leadership of women- but only in the context of marriage. Jesus walked with women from the beginning of his ministry- Mary, Joanna and Susanna. He clearly valued them and their perspective enough to teach them and learn from them. How do you justify ignoring women in today’s context? Or are you so biased that you approach the scriptures to justify your perspective, and do not allow the Word to read and change you? I chose to attend seminary at the urging of the Holy Spirit, confirmed by my Baptist Pastor, Apostolic Uncle, who is a Pastor and I attend a church who reformed their Baptist beliefs that women cannot preach, after decades of supporting this argument. I pray that you too, can un-harden your heart and release the anger you’re clinging to and exchange it for truth. Hopefully that’s not too sugar coated for you and you can refrain from rebuking strangers with misspelled colloquiums and incorrect doctrine on RU-vid.

Do you use a veil to cover your head when you go to church? Certain scriptures were written specifically for that time being and people’s present situations. If I were to follow every single practice for woman given by these two disciples, we would to start wearing veils, and sit on one side of the church separate from men. Read 1 Corinthians 11. The Jesus I read on the Bible and have a relationship with tells me I am the sanctuary, I am made to declare his praises and shine his glory, with my life, testimony, with preaching and caring for/to others. So many woman are gifted with communication and leadership skills, God gifted them for a reason. So many people are loosing their lives without a Savior, the point is, the gospel needs to be preached, whether it’s from the mouth of woman or a man. We are to preach and LEAD people to Christ wherever we are, the building called church is just a place we go to encourage and be encouraged.

Sofia Hartley the word is clear on this matter. Either we submit to it or not. The Bible specifically says Gods word does NOT change. Not for anyone at anytime and place. Culture doesn’t change it. Not one single place in scripture does a women get called to be a pastor or a preacher or a elder of the church. YET it does say we can TEACH younger women the ways of leading a Godly life and the word of God. We can lead Bible studies with women and children. Men are to lead the entire body at church. You must ask yourself why are you not accepting what God has said in His word. Christ is the Head Husbands submit to him wives submit to husbands. That is Godly order. We either submit to Gods Plan and order for our lives our not. You cannot take scripture out of context. Using your argument that some verse were For back then is completely wrong. Because ALL verses were for back then and that would mean NONE of them apply to us. Please think who tells us which verse we get to pick and choose that remain? That doesn’t make since. And how then do we agree on those scriptures? That would confuse the body and God is NOT a author of confusion. All Of Gods word applies yesterday today and forever. It does not change. Not even if we don’t agree or can’t understand it. Pray to the Holy Spirit that you align your life FULLY with Gods word. Ask Him to reveal the truth to you. Not you reveal the truth to it.

I understand submission and that is what I practice at home, being submissive to your husband, has nothing to do with being forbidden by God to speak, preach, or lead. Woman can be submissive, and yet practice their gifts and talents given by their Father. The word of God never changes and never will, and that’s why I believe God has called ALL of us to go and make disciples, not just men. Just wanted to give a different perspective - we are the sanctuary, if we are the sanctuary, than we must go, we must preach, we must lead people to the Lord. But when I come home, I feel blessed to have a husband who is my head, and Christ who is the head of all. God bless you, and I also hope you’ll find a VOICE in the Kingdom of God.

Sofia Hartley I am a studied educated teacher of the word of God. I love the word. I love studying it and aligning my life to mirror it. I have a question you must ask yourself. Why submit to your husband then? The same apostle that wrote about submission wrote about women having g authority over a men in church. Why are you picking which applies to you and which doesn’t. Honestly? Please think about that. Submission is a historical concept as well. Men leading is a part of patriarchal historical concept as well. Yet now our society is trying to move away from that. 1 Tim 2:12 is clear. Men are the pastors. They are the teachers of the word during church service. Why is that not ok with you? If you read every place a person is called to lead the entire flock men are called up. Why would the creator of Women leave us out and not call us up IF he willed it so. Also yes Matthew 28 applies to ALL of Gods children. We are called to spread the gospel to all people and all nations. Everyone can do that without being a pastor. As I mentioned I do that all the time weekly at a bible study. Verse by verse understanding the full truth with women. I’m blessed and loved doing it. And I blessed to teach my children about their faith. Teach them how to study the word and understand it correctly. But here we are talking specifically about Church service. The pastor of the church. That’s a mans role. Just like it’s a women role to carry the child and birth him or her. You don’t see men crying out to God I want to make a baby! So final thought I’ll leave with you. Again you are picking which scriptures apply to you and which don’t. That’s very dangerous my Christian Sister. It opens the door for you to ignore other scriptures. Please please remember what 2 Tim 3 16-17 says. It reads that ALL scripture is God inspired. ALL each and every word. And as we mentioned before 1 Peter 1:25 says The Word of The Lord REMAINS Forever. So either you believe the Lord and what He says or you don’t. Trust me I know it’s hard. My husband is a preacher. And if ever the Lord calls him to lead a church my flesh wants to preach to. Because I too am gifted in communication. YET I lay down my flesh and align it with the word. I will use my gifts where God has ordained them to be used. Leading my children and teaching WOMEN the word of God. Both are my calling and my hearts joy! Please pray in it. And Listen to preachers who really TEACH the scriptures because it’s the truth that will set you free! you and I aren’t the only ones who see this differently. One day the people of God will stop looking like the society around us and start being images of our Savior Jesus! God Bless! 😘✝️🙌🏾

When Paul addresses women not taking authority in 2Timothy, he takes us back to Genesis. He therefore isn't just saying something about women from that time, but from all time. He uses the woman's taking of leadership in the garden as an origin and example for the man to stand up and righteously do what he was MADE to do. What's with all the people in the comments demanding a quick answer? As if this topic has not caused a lot of hurt and confusion. It demands careful examination. If you do not allow the space needed to carefully discuss the truth and what the Scripture means, then you are not acting in love. @Fubzilla I agree, it's not a question of love, it's a question of objective biblical truth. The bible very simply buy explicitly says NO. There is not even much point of a video because this is simple biblical truth. If someone is hurt by this it's because they are out of touch with Gods truth. If someone is led by the spirit they do not get hurt by Gods precepts they humbly obey, they surrender to Gods will.

Invariably, people who have made up their minds to be disobedient with start to argue that black is grey and white is light grey. Its crystal clear in the bible and in practice that women are not to preach. The devil quotes and interprets scripture too, but the Holy Spirit will lead a humble believer into all truth. You know it's the truth because the word says it and you will also have the inner witness of the Holy Spirit. Also, if you have true love for God you will not do things contrary to His will. Love rejoices not in iniquity. Love rejoices in truth.

God is also the judge of those who do not keep His Word. The Bible says that Jesus loved the rich young ruler. But the next time we read of the man, he was lifting up his eyes in hell. "Women pastors / preachers? Can a woman be a pastor or preacher?" Answer: There is perhaps no more hotly debated issue in the church today than the issue of women serving as pastors/preachers. As a result, it is very important to not see this issue as men versus women. There are women who believe women should not serve as pastors and that the Bible places restrictions on the ministry of women, and there are men who believe women can serve as preachers and that there are no restrictions on women in ministry. This is not an issue of chauvinism or discrimination. It is an issue of biblical interpretation. The Word of God proclaims, “A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent” (1 Timothy 2:11-12). In the church, God assigns different roles to men and women. This is a result of the way mankind was created and the way in which sin entered the world (1 Timothy 2:13-14). God, through the apostle Paul, restricts women from serving in roles of teaching and/or having spiritual authority over men. This precludes women from serving as pastors over men, which definitely includes preaching to them, teaching them publicly, and exercising spiritual authority over them. There are many objections to this view of women in pastoral ministry. A common one is that Paul restricts women from teaching because in the first century, women were typically uneducated. However, 1 Timothy 2:11-14 nowhere mentions educational status. If education were a qualification for ministry, then the majority of Jesus’ disciples would not have been qualified. A second common objection is that Paul only restricted the women of Ephesus from teaching men (1 Timothy was written to Timothy, the pastor of the church in Ephesus). Ephesus was known for its temple to Artemis, and women were the authorities in that branch of paganism-therefore, the theory goes, Paul was only reacting against the female-led customs of the Ephesian idolaters, and the church needed to be different. However, the book of 1 Timothy nowhere mentions Artemis, nor does Paul mention the standard practice of Artemis worshipers as a reason for the restrictions in 1 Timothy 2:11-12. A third objection is that Paul is only referring to husbands and wives, not men and women in general. The Greek words for “woman” and “man” in 1 Timothy 2 could refer to husbands and wives; however, the basic meaning of the words is broader than that. Further, the same Greek words are used in verses 8-10. Are only husbands to lift up holy hands in prayer without anger and disputing (verse 8)? Are only wives to dress modestly, have good deeds, and worship God (verses 9-10)? Of course not. Verses 8-10 clearly refer to all men and women, not just husbands and wives. There is nothing in the context that would indicate a narrowing to husbands and wives in verses 11-14. Yet another objection to this interpretation of women in pastoral ministry is in relation to women who held positions of leadership in the Bible, specifically Miriam, Deborah, and Huldah in the Old Testament. It is true that these women were chosen by God for special service to Him and that they stand as models of faith, courage, and, yes, leadership. However, the authority of women in the Old Testament is not relevant to the issue of pastors in the church. The New Testament Epistles present a new paradigm for God’s people-the church, the body of Christ-and that paradigm involves an authority structure unique to the church, not for the nation of Israel or any other Old Testament entity. Similar arguments are made using Priscilla and Phoebe in the New Testament. In Acts 18, Priscilla and Aquila are presented as faithful ministers for Christ. Priscilla’s name is mentioned first, perhaps indicating that she was more prominent in ministry than her husband. Did Priscilla and her husband teach the gospel of Jesus Christ to Apollos? Yes, in their home they “explained to him the way of God more adequately” (Acts 18:26). Does the Bible ever say that Priscilla pastored a church or taught publicly or became the spiritual leader of a congregation of saints? No. As far as we know, Priscilla was not involved in ministry activity in contradiction to 1 Timothy 2:11-14. In Romans 16:1, Phoebe is called a “deacon” (or “servant”) in the church and is highly commended by Paul. But, as with Priscilla, there is nothing in Scripture to indicate that Phoebe was a pastor or a teacher of men in the church. “Able to teach” is given as a qualification for elders, but not for deacons (1 Timothy 3:1-13; Titus 1:6-9). The structure of 1 Timothy 2:11-14 makes the reason why women cannot be pastors perfectly clear. Verse 13 begins with “for,” giving the “cause” of Paul’s statement in verses 11-12. Why should women not teach or have authority over men? Because “Adam was created first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived” (verses 13-14). God created Adam first and then created Eve to be a “helper” for Adam. The order of creation has universal application in the family (Ephesians 5:22-33) and in the church. The fact that Eve was deceived is also given in 1 Timothy 2:14 as a reason for women not serving as pastors or having spiritual authority over men. This does not mean that women are gullible or that they are all more easily deceived than men. If all women are more easily deceived, why would they be allowed to teach children (who are easily deceived) and other women (who are supposedly more easily deceived)? The text simply says that women are not to teach men or have spiritual authority over men because Eve was deceived. God has chosen to give men the primary teaching authority in the church. Many women excel in gifts of hospitality, mercy, teaching, evangelism, and helping/serving. Much of the ministry of the local church depends on women. Women in the church are not restricted from public praying or prophesying (1 Corinthians 11:5), only from having spiritual teaching authority over men. The Bible nowhere restricts women from exercising the gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12). Women, just as much as men, are called to minister to others, to demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), and to proclaim the gospel to the lost (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; 1 Peter 3:15). God has ordained that only men are to serve in positions of spiritual teaching authority in the church. This is not because men are necessarily better teachers or because women are inferior or less intelligent (which is not the case). It is simply the way God designed the church to function. Men are to set the example in spiritual leadership-in their lives and through their words. Women are to take a less authoritative role. Women are encouraged to teach other women (Titus 2:3-5). The Bible also does not restrict women from teaching children. The only activity women are restricted from is teaching or having spiritual authority over men. This precludes women from serving as pastors to men. This does not make women less important, by any means, but rather gives them a ministry focus more in agreement with God’s plan and His gifting of them.

I was just telling a friend of mine this same thing. We women can be an Evangelist, Prophetess, and a teacher. To hold the Apostleship or Pastoral offices. . . NO! There is a divine order to all things. Can we have an apostolic anointing? Yes! Other than that I just don't think we should pastor because it's not biblical. Now God can call whom He wants. Thanks for your efforts in My understanding on this is that the logic seems adequate unless you know & take in to consideration... A. More of the whole council of scripture in context. B. How Pharisees as teachers using the Hebrew traditional ways to argue scripture to come to an Halchic decision of interpretation of scripture. Paul was applying these & if ignored or not understood; interpretation of Paul's intended meaning is mistaken as per 2 Peter 3:17 C. The order sequence of the Greek in some areas has been somewhat manipulated to arrive @ the English translation to suggest differences not actually in the underlying text,....and @ times opposite to what has been given. D. At times the definition of a Greek word is utilised from a range of accurate meanings to only suggest a doctrinal preference in the reading stance. These can been shown to cause disharmony when the whole body of scripture is taken into account. Like women can't speak in an assembly but women are also said to be involved in prayer and prophecy which seems to require verbal audible communication. E. Letters generally are written with an understanding of the recipient's cultural reality, so every issue is not necessarily written out like a treatise for us in the 21century. The letter is personal & there are common comprehensions of the issues involved without writing in great depth when addressing them. Paul's letters are often responses to needs of the community. If we need to go outside scripture when necessary to rebuild accurate cultural context to grasp a hold of what is going on, we should carefully set about to do it. It may be absolutely necessary to maintain any chance of understanding what the letter actually means. The aim being to arrive @ sound Bible exegesis. 1. Paul himself would not have qualified as a teacher being without a wife as he clearly states, in desiring those in faith to stay like him..single although they don't sin if they do marry. 2. It is traditional for the time to refer to scripture, which was only the OT as Paul wrote these letters with the readers expected to either know or ask for the greater context of the short reference given. In regards to the reference to Adam & Eve it is the argument to squash the incorrect disruptive pagan eons story of Creation being circulated by gentiles women coming into faith in this assembly but unaware of how God the Father created. The subject of the Creation Story is in view in & has nothing to do with which sex is fit to teach and if it is applied as such neither men nor women would be fit as one was deceived & the other willingly ate. The subject is about teaching God's Word with accuracy & stopping discord in an assembly & in the Greek, the women doing this are called to learn in quietness peaceably just as much as it could be translated silence. The following are links to scholarly research presented independently of denominations. Some of the church history documentation referenced is certainly faith changing in a great way. I recommend looking @ the Early Church History Home Page embedded video series 5 short segments of approx 15 minutes each. houseofdavidfellowship.com houseofdavidfellowship.com/downloads/1Sep129g9d7/ houseofdavidfellowship.com/downloads/15Sep12g987h/ I recommend looking @ the RU-vid series of ACTS & then ROMANS or listening to it MP3 as well and perhaps you may start to see more of God's Will on the road to Emmaus too! . It will release any person from the inconsistency & 'unsolvable' , that comes about from not reading an Hebraic ANE document in context of Hebraic thought of the 1st Century. The many cultural influences of the time period are also more revealed now that digitisation of ancient Greek documents & translation of same as well as full translation of the Dead Sea Scrolls bringing new essential information to our faith in Christ are available to us. Hello Ronald just wondering if you have looked at my earlier reply. Not sure if you have. God's word can proclaims a lot of doctrine in translation. The Greek in 1 Tim can very adequately & accurately be rendered as quietly peacefully as in good learning behaviour in the classroom. You correctly state no educational status is required, so the argument about women not being educated & therefor not likely to be useful in teaching is fallacious in fact. Verbal education was the norm as the parchments or papyrus were so expensive that many only had access to them verbally anyway. Through out the Bible it is hearing and doing the Word of God that is the instruction and yes some where in a better position to do that as being able in reading and writing but your argument reduces the influence the heard Word of God has on the heart inspired by the Spirit of God. The restriction for women having authority to teach over men was naturally restricted in this instance as the assembly was in in disarray due to arguments between those understanding Truth from the scriptures because they had heard and believed the Truth and those in this assembly; specific women who were proclaiming the Greek belief of eons as the creation story. This was not a letter that was notated to be circulated to all assemblies either so generalising may be a mindset you have brought to the document because of earlier training. Paul specifically gives the reference to the Adam and Eve story of the true Creation by the Father to not just show the intense ignorance of these women of scripture. You may not be aware but Paul being a Pharisee trained under Gamaliel used the classic argument style of the religious Jew to bring forth a halachic decision. Typically in this format the Rabbi (Paul ) puts forth his reasoning by referencing a short portion of scripture re: Adam and Eve and would have expected his listeners to either know the whole referenced story ( not just a verse or two ) to keep contextual alignment and if they did not know...the expectation was to find it out so they would understand the Rabbi (Paul's) halachic ruling decision. Paul as a disciple originally of Gamaliel had to memorise the whole Hebrew Bible so that is another reason Yeshua chose him to go and proclaim the Gospel to the Gentiles. He didn't have to carry a whole Torah role everywhere he was one ! Be blessed Brother in finding and doing truth, Kind regards in Christ FJ

And I'm totally against it because I trust in the word of God. But I was in shock because I told myself I would never attend a church where there's a woman called pastor. Now the church where I use to attend, the pastor past away. And then that church started to change things around that I didn't agree with, so I left. And no, not because I didn't want correction or Discipline, I need that in my life, but left for other reasons. But anyways I've been looking for a church for me and my wife to be and I ran into that one. And I really felt God send me there but then what I saw last night, I didn't agree with it. My question is, what can I do? Or what is it that I should do? Because I don't want to lead my family in the wrong church. I pray that God uses you or anybody in this channel to give me wisdom, guidance and direction of what to do. God bless you. Not according to God's Word. Remember: Eve was deceived and Adam was not. I am a woman, and this has absolutely nothing to do with equal rights. It has to do with God's order in the church. I think the body of Christ is failing to remember that Christ is the head of the church and we as members comprise the body. Man has no right to usurp authority over Christ. But it's happening all the time, everywhere in the churches. And that is in direct disobedience to Christ himself. He is the head and Savior of the body. but if we go back to the Book of Genesis, let's not forget the curse that God spoke over women. It is a womans in nature, because of the Fall, to want to dominate and usurp authority over men. It's a control issue. And when women take leadership positions in the church they are in direct violation of Christ's teachings. I hope somebody gets this. Blessings 💕

Hi Lois this is a little of subject but I thought you may find it ouf interest. In the Hebrew the woman was made as the Ezer Kenidgo which is like the one who helps him by opposing him with strength to keep him on God's Path. Eve Hebrew name Chava failed in the role by choosing to listen to another gospel from Satan and disobeying a food command & losing her holiness. In Christ the image of men and women is renewed and that is why when we are faithful to Christ both male and female in marriage become one again. The image when it is degraded is a woman lording it over a man and belittling & misguiding but in the true image, deep mutual respect between husband and wife allow for the wisdom that God imparts to the woman by the Holy Spirit (not satan this time) for her husband's benefit to be forthcoming and received in a mutual way. This is true submission and love to make an actual one flesh & spirit before God. Blessings FJ

Yet Adam sinned knowingly, and that somehow qualifies men to shepherd? Actually, the bible indicates that Eve was the lesser transgressor because she was deceived, whereas Adam received the direct command from God and chose to rebel. And thus, her eyes were not open till he ate, and through him sin and death reigned. Given that Paul fears the men and women of the church will be deceived - there is no indication women are more prone to deception than men. Indeed, men are often the false teachers. The ethic is that all should received instruction in quietude, sober-minded, and without anger or division so that knowledge of God replaces old wives tales and pagan ways.

While the ministry of women is essential to the church’s proper working and health, only men are given the responsibility to serve as pastors and elders. Although Scripture is quite clear on this point, there are many individuals, churches, and denominations that choose to disobey the Lord’s will in this regard and allow women to function in pastoral and teaching roles. But God’s church will be blessed and will honor Him only as it follows the plan He has revealed in the Bible. The clearest biblical teaching on this issue is found in 1 Timothy 2:12: “But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.” This command comes in a section of 1 Timothy which teaches about the functioning of a local church. Some people believe when the apostle Paul wrote that a woman should not “teach or exercise authority over a man,” he was conforming to a unique situation in the city of Ephesus or to the cultural value system of the time, but that is not the case. Notice in the next verse Paul refers back to God’s original design for man and woman: “For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve” (1 Timothy 2:13). This proves God wants His created design of male leadership and female submission in the family to extend into the functioning of the church. On certain issues, the concerns and goals of the modern feminist agenda are in agreement with God’s standards. For instance, they agree women should not be discriminated against in the workplace but should be afforded equal opportunities with men. They also rightfully condemn violence against women. At the same time, however, the modern feminist movement frequently contradicts Scripture regarding the roles of women. For instance, some of the key goals of feminism are to protect a woman’s right to abort her baby, to affirm lesbianism, and to promote the idea that there is no distinction between men and women’s leadership roles in the family and the church. These contradictions with God’s Word are not incidental but evidence a fundamental error in feminist philosophy which can be traced back to the original fall of mankind into sin. The events recorded in Genesis 3 explain how the feminists’ opposition to God’s plan began. When God created Adam and Eve, He designed a productive and perfect balance between the nurturing leadership of a man and the supportive following of a woman in marriage. After God created Adam, He said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him” (Genesis 2:18). A few verses later we read how God created Eve: “So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. The Lord God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. The man said, ‘This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.’ For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh” (Genesis 2:21-24). When Adam and Eve sinned, God’s perfect plan was perverted by the depravity in the hearts of men and women. Adam sinned by stepping out from under God’s authority when he ate the divinely forbidden fruit, and Eve chose to reject the authority of both Adam and the Lord. One of the consequences of their sin was the corruption of the complementary relationship between man and woman. Genesis 3:16 records what the Lord told Eve: “Yet your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.” The desire Eve would have toward Adam is not a good kind of desire but a desire to conquer or overcome. You can see this in Genesis 4:7 where the same word describes what sin would do to Cain: “Sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it” [emphasis added]. From that time on, one of the expressions of sin in women would be the tendency to break out of God’s intended supporting and following role. At the same time, men’s sinful tendency would be to neglect their responsibility to love and lead their wives, dominating them instead. God’s perfect plan can be implemented and enjoyed in marriages and churches only when sinners receive new hearts of humility and obedience. It is only when men and women submit to God’s way that they will experience the greatest blessing. The differing roles of men and women in marriage and the church should not lead us to believe there is any kind of inequality personally or spiritually between the genders. In the Word of God the principles of gender equality and women’s submission exist side by side. Genesis 1:26-27 reads, “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Men and women are created equally with a likeness to God. They share dominion over all creation and are both commanded to rule over it. The second chapter of Genesis contains a more detailed recounting of the creation of Adam and Eve in which we see the divinely ordained functional ordering of leadership and submission between man and woman. Adam was created first (2:7), and Eve was created later in order to be a complement and helper to him (2:20-23). It is this creation order Paul mentions to support God’s intention for male leadership in the church (1 Timothy 2:13). This is the reason why the roles of pastors and elders are limited to men in the church.

@@madjack821 For the past 500 years there have been reliable English translation of the Bible that have been used by English speaking Protestants as the primary way of understanding what the Bible teaches. These translations were done so that scholars of Greek and Hebrew and Latin did not have a stranglehold on biblical meaning and interpretation. The translators took great care to make sure they translated the meaning of the Greek and Hebrew correctly so that all English speakers could debate biblical teaching on an equal footing with priests, bishops and popes. The Catholic Church burnt some of them at the stake for doing this. Since then thousands of trained Greek and Hebrew scholars of all denominations have checked and rechecked their work finding little need for correction. Suddenly lately,"pastors," usually with a single semester class in NT Greek if that, are "discovering" new translations which radically challenge key teachings of the Church that have been agreed upon for 500- 2000 years. This dishonors that 500 year work of translations AND more importantly seeks to put you subject to their own "superior" understanding of the Bible which you may not challenge just like the old popes did.

"And on My menservants and on my MAIDSERVANTS I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy." (Acts 2:18) Paul's words must never be taken out of context. He based his words on his own culture where women played lead roles in the temples of goddess Diana. Which was despicable to his sight. You need Jesus to fill the cultural gap here. Jesus appeared to a woman first, post resurrection. And she was/is the first carrier of the news of resurrection! Christ is above all. So if He approves of a woman to be a pastor, prophet or a deacon, His creations cannot overrule His actions. After all, the first preacher of His resurrection is a woman. God bless you all.

In 1 Corinthians 14 Paul discusses the matter of spiritual gifts in the first century church. After instructing the church that those who speak in tongues had to "keep silent" if there was no interpreter, and that one prophet had to "keep silent" if another prophet was speaking, he says, "Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says. And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church." (1 Corinthians 14:34-35). To this passage is attached the following admonition, "If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord." (1 Cor. 14:37).

“Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well.” 1 Timothy 3:12 Clearly, Paul intends to communicate that only men can be deacons, so in the previous verse it should be translated “their wives.” A man can be disqualified from serving as a deacon if his wife is not faithful in all things. A woman cannot be the husband of one wife. Therefore, only men can serve as pastors or deacons. In verse 5, managing one’s household well as the spiritual leader in the home is necessary before a man can care for God’s church. Therefore, only those who are spiritual leaders in the home can serve as spiritual leaders in the church. In all respect, this is very clear.

A question? If the character of the deacon's wife is so important, why does Paul not include a section like this in the paragraph of overseers? It seems that the character of the wife would be even more crucial for a pastor. I don't think context demands that "gune" be translated wife. It can simply mean woman, and it could refer to women who serve in the role of a deacon. Let's allow the flexibility to be there. And let's allow each congregation that is defining the role biblically as "servants of the table" to decide if they will have females serve as deacons or not.
@boaz63
@boaz63 6 лет назад
This would seem to prove too much. If it proves that deacons must be men, then does it also teach that they must be married men, with multiple children? Otherwise they couldn’t qualify as “husbands” managing their “children”. Or perhaps the focus is on those who are already in this category to begin with. If a man is married and has children, then he must meet these qualification concerning them. But if there is not a requirement for marriage, then neither can this be a requirement for maleness. I am referring to this passage alone and the proper way to interpret it. There may be principles we can draw from other places though that could reasonably lead a church to conclude that only men should hold the office of deacon.

Let's continue like the, faith + brain, continue to read and understand it. In the whole Bible there isn't a clear condamnation if slavery. But we add texts and by faith + brain, we understand slavery is wrong....let's continue like that to everything we read. We are all one in Christ, Gal 3:28, and 1 Cor 12. Jesus said that who wants to be important in heaven needs to serve the most people possible.....woman and man can serve all, so they will be important......don't let people manipulate you because of their desire of power, control or manipulate....
