See what people don't understand is Kanye wasn't "Given" his place in the industry, he earned it when everyone was saying no. He won over his fanbase by providing them with actual value for over 20 years. When his mother passed, he stayed on and finished the tour for the fans. His fanbase is loyal because he was. That's why he can't be cancelled.... Unlike most artists, people outside of his fanbase CANT cancel him, because they never had control over his success to begin with.
Let’s just review the last week alone 1. #1 album that breaks 200 million streams in 24 hours. 2. Stadium tour on the way. 3. Meets with the new Adidas CEO who just recently called him one of the most creative people in the world and said throwing away the most successful collaboration in their history was a mistake 4. $19 million in merch sales in 24 hours after running his Super Bowl commercial 5. Just today we know he’s headlining Rolling Loud Either Ye is too big to be taken down or cancel culture is truly just about a companies bottom dollar The next insane chapter in this is the fact that two more Vultures albums are coming. The reaction has already been polarizing and unreal. He will finish the year with unreal numbers and it’ll leave a legendary impression good or bad
Ye (Kanye West) is the most human artist of this century because he's so upfront about his feelings, vulnerables and thoughs in a time where most of artists (actors, musicians, celebrities) are so fake and bland, they recicle speeches and pretend to care about social problems and want to change the world, but they're shallow and selfish like the rest of us. Kanye mental condition is a double edge sword. When he has a burst of emotions he says a lot of hurtful things that drags people away, but he's also a genius and one of the most creative minds of world. The sad thing is he can take all medications and behave propely, but by doing that he supress his creativity and becomes unable to create music, design clothes, structures etc. For an artist, this is basically death, he would kill his main resource of expression, comunication and legacy.
When you get to Kanye West level of fame off of pure talent you can only be cancelled for murder or sexual crimes. All Kanye did was talk shit, so many rappers have done worse
The thing for me with Kanye is, I can acknowledge when hes wrong and i wait for the explanation. When he went on his Jewish rant we found out later "Oh ur doing this cause ur hurt. U dont really have smoke for the whole community but because THESE couple of specific pple impacted ur life negatively, ur on crash out mode" that also mixed in with "I gotta break free from all these contracts n take whatever bumps that come with it". I used to debate people on Ye's intent but at this point, if hes not willing to explain thoroughly in that moment when he says some offensive shit, he gotta take all the lumps that come with it 🤷🏾♂️. I and other fans might understand his true intent/feelings on what he says but the rest of society dont see it like we do n u gotta eat that backlash when it comes
"Understanding" antisemitic nazi shit is dick-riding and nothing more, there is no excuse for this behaviour. I love his music but I can't support a man who says he loves Hitler, especially not because I'm German and it's just not worth it for a mid-album like Vulture. I understand that Ye is mentally ill, but that doesn't excuse him from not taking his medicine and listening to Nazis.
Hypothetical . Let’s say a white rapper let’s call him Geminem said about black people what Kanye said about Jewish people. First Geminem starts posting on social media that he’s been robbed by a gang of African American men on multiple occasions.. Then Geminem tweets, I’m a bit sleepy but tomorrow I’m going deathcon3 on African American people, the funny thing is that I can’t hate African American people because white people are originally from Africa also. Btw defcon3 means to be on high alert and ready for war.. tbh I don’t believe Geminem wrote “.deathcon” because he was sleepy or a bad speller , I believe he did it to disarm the meaning so it seemed less threatening, but that’s beside the point.. So for the next few weeks Geminem goes on several interviews and keeps saying African American people have robbed him several times and they have robbed many other artists and are behind most of the robberies in the entire world.. Geminem also does an interview with Shannon Sharpe(Lex Fridman) and seems pretty friendly with him. Also I know Geminem has works with black people before and is nice to them. Finally Geminem goes on Alex Jones and says he likes Jim Crow because he made bomb azz pumpkin pie and invented seatbelts.. and he loves African American people and Jim Crow. Also when asked what should be done about all of the African American robberies he just says accountability and change , he doesn’t mention hating them or wanting them to be punished in any way… Would I expect outrage? Yes Would I say Gem was ignorant to generalize? Yes Would I say he shouldn’t be allowed speak publicly or sell records again? No Would I think he’s an awful guy? No Would I think what he’s saying is potentially dangerous ? Yes
"He can't be cancelled by people outside his fanbase because they didn't make him in the first place" and inside his fanbase, we understand a human being doesn't have to be right everytime as long as he speaks his mind without fear and apologises when he is met with new information. We all aspire to that, if we cancel him we cancel everything he stands for that makes us his fans in the first place (plus the music). He didn't kill anyone, he didn't call for the killing of anyone. Some artists got famous over the glorification of actual crimes they have commited and no one has cancelled them.
I’m not too sure it was ever real in the first place. Career-ending backlash, justified or not, has gotten quicker - owing to the increasing speed of communication via social media - but the formula is still the same.
It never was. If you do something that alienates your fanbase they’ll stop paying attention. Otherwise you’re basically good. This has been true as far back as I can think of. Rappers are pretty tough to “cancel” when it comes down to it.
There's usually a deeper message to the controversial stuff Ye says you just need to get passed the surface shock factor. The one thing people seem to think is the most indefensible is him saying he loves the Austrian painter. Ye tries in his own way to follow Christ and love everybody. He even made an album called "Love Everybody" which had a picture of the surgeon responsible for his mothers death on the cover. He is truly trying to love everybody and he's proving it by saying he loves the people who everybody in the world thinks he should hate.
Yes he truely follows Christian messages, by rapping about bitches, drugs, luxury and unhinged things for the last past decades. Truly people believe everything to cope they follow a bad person. You know it’s nice of Kanye to support an enfringed group known for spreading live and peace all around the world, oh wait…that’s not it. He is trying so hard to be relevant, he wants the media attention by any means necessary to monetise on the antagonisms and controversy he creates. He then also loves to complain that the media follows him, yet he literally married one of the most mediatized individuals in the world. He is megalomaniac, bipolar and very probably narcissistic by accounts of people working for him. It’s not about his music anymore, even for him, seen as he barely properly finishes and tunes his albums anymore as seen with Donda and Jesus is King. He just wants to sell you plastic shoes, overpriced Guildan T-Shirts, and really badly designed musical gadgets…
808’s helped me & many others through breakups, MBDTF helped me embrace & appreciate the chaos in my life, Yeezus helped me be my own biggest fan! You said it best, if you move the culture, you can’t cancel the culture!
People need to understand what he is actually up against is what most Americans are up against but clueless to. We are run by some French people, and Anti-Christian folks. You can call it what you want but it's the truth.
A phone is a work of art, that work of art is created by exploiting children mining minerals by its creator, who is okay with it. Yet you'll probably overlook that intertwining and still use one 🤔because despite its creators lack of morality, the art provides value to you in a way nothing else does right now. Same goes for anything. Truth is everyone is a hypocrite, and that's just human nature.
In today's capitalistic environment, as long as you have money, you will have a "voice". It's a bit reductive, but cancel culture doesn't really exist. Cancel culture is almost a brand now
this is the best take in these comments. Hundreds of “ye cant be cancelled, you cant cancel the culture” but no one saying, “why is that?” It’s not as simple as “he made graduation.” Youre absolutely correct. You can ride the victimization of “They tried to cancel me!” as a brand now. And people buy into it and excuse it at every turn like in these comments because you are told that the “other” is coming for you (Jewish, black, mexican, etc) from day one in america. You aren’t taught that rich people are going to get away with whatever and tell you to hate people who have less than you, which is the actual reality. It’s designed for everybody at the top to make everybody at the bottom hate each other. Thats the real conspiracy, but it’s not as sexy and simple as “THEY are coming for you” Idk why i wrote all this when it’s gonna be reduced to “yap yap yap” by yall but maybe ONE person with a brain will read this lol. I truly expect no mindful discourse from this and will be not be wasting my time reading any response this brings. Just agreeing with OP in my long winded way.
Amazing video bro. I've recently been watching and reading a lot on Ye's current situation and this is probably the best made video i've watched. Your points are really nicely presented and explained so it's really understandable why so people still love kanye after everything he recently said/done.
Ye, (Kanye) is an actual ROYAL and comes from Egyptian lineage. He is in my bloodline. Ye has a ton of spiritual power. Royal power. The US Government and FBI acknowledge our bloodline. I speak publicly about this. Stay tuned for EXTREME changes to occur in multiple industries.
No. it's because he has the machine behind him. Ye still has power and influence in industry circles, he says jump they say how high. That is why he has a #1 record in 2024. If it was up to these consumers he'd have been cancelled decades ago.
Being creative and not being scared on taking risks making hit records that also have that classic feel to them and on top of that..having a real message is what makes kanye west a genius. Not many artist in music history have 10 classic albums 7 of his own and 3 as a producer for the rappers albums below.. Jay z - the blueprint Common - Be Pusha T - Daytona kanye has 84 platinum songs out of 184 songs 75 Grammy nominations.. the 4th most ever kanye won 24 Grammy's in total. Classics 🎖 Mainstream success 🎖 Critically acclaimed 🎖 All huge achievements it's super rare and kanye has influenced pretty much everyone we listen to. You can hate the man but you can't deny his one of a kind legendary career.
Great video, I think Kanye's peak of controversy is one of the most interesting case studies when it comes to separating the art from the artist; it raises a ton of important questions about where we collectively draw the line versus individually. I'm of the belief that relatively speaking, the worst Kanye has done is say a bunch of really ignorant shit. When you get into the nitty gritty of it all, I think the problem is more so rooted in Kanye's incredibly poor communication of his belief of Black Israelite ideology (mind you an ideology that a number of rappers have endorsed including Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, and Jay Electronica), his excessively literal interpretation of the biblical message of "love everyone," (in reference to his "I love Hitler" statement), and his addiction to controversy. Considering the backlash Kanye has received over this, I believe that there are artists with very successful careers, that have committed infinitely more heinous acts, that have not received anywhere near as much attention as Kanye's antics have in recent years. I don't make this comparison with the intent to downplay Kanye's words; I will never deny how his behavior is worthy of criticism along with the consequences that have followed as a result. The association with Nick Fuentes and Milo Yiannopoulos are probably some of the most questionable things Kanye has done and I understand how this, along with what can undoubtedly be deemed as hateful rhetoric, can lead to some never wanting to consume his art again. However, I think that this crowd of intentional non-listeners are somewhat ignorant to how the concept of controversy has been the driving force of Kanye's entire career, even to his detriment. In an extreme sense, I view his entire career as one utterly fascinating instance of performance art contextualizing the addiction to tearing oneself down in order to use the ensuing fallout to build themself back up. It's a vicious cycle that has gotten progressively worse over the years when it comes to the damage done. Now, is this something that should be encouraged? I don't think anyone can really answer that except Kanye himself, especially when considering just how vital this cycle is for his success. Like it or not, Kanye is truly one of a kind, and to me is a reminder to focus on the individual rather than society's obsession with black and white labeling. The man has been unapologetically himself since day one and this is precisely the reason he's been such a cultural juggernaut. I believe he once said in an interview, "if you're a fan of Kanye West, then you're a fan of yourself." It's the sheer self-belief and confidence within Kanye that has gotten him to where he is today, along with his flaws. It doesn't excuse his actions, but it contextualizes them in a way that makes him akin to someone like Kobe Bryant, both of whom serve as reminders that any height can be reached. Maybe this is all some sort of elaborate cope for me to continue consuming a supposed bigot's art, but even if that was the case, that should not be a reason to ostracize; it all ultimately comes down to one's own boundary between personal enjoyment and moral principle.
What makes Kanye so unique is He is speaking about things that are happening in the music industry, fashion industry and how they are trying to brainwashed society and they hated him for it and he is the only celebrity who got the balls to stand up to them and that doesn't care what the consequences are. You can't control a man who stands up for his belief and doesn't fear death! So HE HAS BECOME A THREAT TO THE ELITES! Me personally, it's the reason why I love Ye apart from his music and how great of a genius he is. His self confidence is what people needs today, because many people today lacks confidence in themself.
The most important thing regarding this topic that I think you failed to address is that Vultures is the rare instance where the bad things he says in the media come up in the art and the art sounds bad - Vultures is set to go down as his worst release so what are we left with when there’s barely any art to appreciate?
Then you have the right to trash it and run it through the mud. The point of this video is you have the right to hate it and also appreciate the good aspects
You listening to the music with ya eyes and your ears smh. Stand by this opinion too. Just know deep down you’re a fraud if you jump on the bandwagon when some respected people within the industry say this was a good album. They will.
Where did you get those visuals of the listening party with that effect? Did you put the effect on? This type of video should defnetly be used as one of the MVs for this album.
I appreciate Ye for voicing his opinions...at the end of the day dude is human and we all make mistakes, he deff said some wild shit at time but we have freedom of speech for a reason. I'm sick of this cancel culture where if someone says something thats not being accepted by the mass its automatic being "cancel".
