That polar level was legitimately insane. I expected you just to move them slightly and call it a day. The fact that you went as far as you did deserve applause.
the guy is rich, makes videos for a living and can let the game running on its own. considering the little effort needed and his guaranteed income, I would be surprised if he just gave up
"someone who is actually good at this game can give it a go-" *Makes the most accurate and precise jumps of all time and beats every level with perfect calculations of every possible solution*
I mean he went at it like 5000 monkeys with typewriters trying to write shakespeare, it took a heck of a lot of attempts to achieve that kind of precision, and none of the monkeys actually managed to write all of shakespear in one go.
How can I praise this enough? The editing in this video is superb and you should be proud. I appreciate that you took your time to explain everything the audience could possibly want to know without rushing through things OR being repetitive. Your writing and narration is incredibly easy to listen to and your visuals and examples made this extremely watchable entertainment even for a casual Crash fan. It's also incredibly impressive that you put so much effort into getting past Bear Down. Congrats on earning a new fan today!
Don't know if you noticed but he responded to your comment in the Crash 1 video saying that those in particular are designed in a way to jump predictably and a very high.
@@arkan_k4c582 Yup, he did. In fact, I think that bit in Crash 4 is possibly the only one when you can slide below Nitro crates because of how they are timed to jump
When I was really little, like 4 years or so, I played crash twinsanity. Sadly, I could never get past the walrus part, but I still fantasized about the ending. So much so, that one night I dreamt about the ending, and I distinctly remember to this day feeling absolutely mortified as I came up to a giant wall of nitro crates. Ever since, I've thought about various ways you could get past that sort of situation, and this video was really cathartic because of it
I ABSOLUTELY love this. I know as a franchise Crash doesn't have as much content as others, but people like you keep it going. And these kinds of mods give me a whole new appreciation for the level design. The fact the last warp room was comparitively easier highlights how well designed the difficulty curve is in the game. Also watching the behaviors of Nitro crates when you let them go completely unhinged is hilarious. And that detour to get the perfect roll out on the polar level? I applaud your dedication. Thank you for clearing up EVERY possible question a viewer could have.
31:09 Yeah, that's a thing in every Crash game as far as I'm aware. It just happens, and for a brief moment, there's something akin to happiness. And then you choke and cry.
I love the dedication and Research/knowledge you have, I hate when people Do challanges and give up or Skip parts they can't Do without thinking or being creative to really go into it. Respect.
Dude, this video and the Crash 3 follow up are fantastic The effort put into these is mad. So entertaining and so interesting seeing you break down the full detail of each thing! Really looking forward to any other challenge follow ups you do! Especially if there are any more from this era! I really don't know why these aren't at a over a million yet!
Love it! After seeing - but seldomly watching - basically any "Can you beat if ..." challenge for basically any Mario game here on RU-vid, I love to see Crash get some much deserved love as well. Keep up the great work!
Well, GameChamp3K did do a CTR challenge run if you're curious (and, far as I'm concerned, she's the one who's made it popular): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-upEL4ySmVnI.html
Your dedication is admirable. You running that Bear Down simulation for hours just to prove something possible and actually proving it, I wish more "challenge youtubers" would be this hyper focused on actually beating the challenge rather than making a million exceptions. Great video man!
My takeaway: If I ever need to beat Crash 2 with all crates as Nitro whenever there's a stack of Nitros in my way I'll just wait up to 2 weeks for them to discharge themselves and if they are still there I try jumping onto them on hope they don't explode anyway.
I don't know how long it took you to make this video, but just the cheer enthusiasm of doing this challenge to proof if it could be done... I love it! Great video!
I'm glad you have some integrity as a challenge runner, it would've been so easily to just move them or take a cheap victory but you actually tried. A self imposed challenge doesn't mean anything unless you try, when dealing with semantics if you exploit them it can ruin a run. Thanks for that, even if you tried and failed you tried. Trying is everything with these. 10/10 video.
Just wanna say, first time watching this you kept me enthralled through the whole video and I've come back several times to this video for background noise and to help me sleep. Such a good video and your passion for Crash is contagious because this got me to try the N Sane trilogy again and I've loved it.
Opening with Rock It's soundtrack, you can't expect me to not like it XD But seriously, love the idea, love the writing (the "no." and the nitro driving into the nitro almost killed me lol) and this demonstrates again how much research you've put into the N. Sane Trilogy!
One of the best Crash Bandicoot videos I've ever watched! I love content like this, The quality level is high off the charts, thank you so much for this!!! You are amazing!!!
You keep outperforming yourself with these videos lad, amazing content, love your indept knowledge and abilities in these games and youre a joy to listen to. Keep at it!
Dude. I mean.. You have my undoubted respect and the tenacity out of this world. This is one of the best vids I’ve seen in a loooong time. *standing applause*
Mighty impressive video. I honestly didn't think it'd be possible, but seeing how many masks were available and your management of them was an eye opener for sure.
This is one of those amazing pieces of content that feels so satisfying to watch. You without a doubt did way more experimentation than I thought you could 😂
One thing I noticed after watching possibly too many Crash speed runs, there are instances where you can jump and spin on top of nitro crates to make them explode without taking damage. I don’t think that they would help with the instances that you used your masks on, but thought I’d bring it up. Love this video, can’t wait to get some hands on the editor when it’s complete!
Hey. I just just stumbled upon this in the feed and I just want to tell you how much I fucking appreciate the fact that you immediately disqualified abusing respawn masks. Too often I find videos of people doing challenge runs only to abuse some mechanic that's only allowed because they decided to word the challenge in just such a way that it was allowed. it always feel cheap af. If you are gonna leave in a cheese for your own challenge run on a technicality, make that the challenge run instead.
btw, I'm perfectly okay with how you handled that polar level. hell, I'd have been fine if you just showed that, yes, they can technically jump that high, cheated them out and continued. I'm sure my previous comment might make this appear like a contradiction but no, I just hate false advertisement.
I'm glad this came with it's own challenges and solutions compared to doing a minimum boxes/wumpa run I gave it a shot a while ago and found you can beat the original CB2 with ~50 boxes and 0 wumpa collected (ignoring the item glitch where you can beat the game with 0 of each). Aside from Snow Go and Hangin Out, it's just the boulder and polar levels that have unavoidable boxes, although they have their own ways you can try to lower the amount as much as possible (you can spin while landing on the top box of Snow Go and crawl over the bottom one at the cost of collecting the only wumpa in the game, you can NSS fast enough to de-load most boxes in the boulder levels and rely on the RNG boulder bouncing to get over some others, you can mask abuse Hangin Out to get around the boxes on the grate before getting blocked by that TNT wall, you can skate around the nitro section at the end of the Cold Hard Crash death route to avoid both boxes and wumpa, etc.)
Your videos are so good! This is one of the most high quality informative gaming video I've seen in a long time. Few things I'd like to give as suggestions, I would in the future maybe change the audio recording setup, perhaps a better mic, AT 2020 for example. The voice seems a bit phasey, also the plosives come off a bit aggressive. The content is absolutely golden, keep at it!
It’s funny because last year I went through a full play though of Crash 2 on PS1 trying to get the highest percent completion with the least boxes broken. It was a very interesting challenge and some of the levels may be able to be improved upon, but I wasn’t able to figure out a way to personally. Here’s all my notes for each level: Crash Bandicoot 2 - Least Boxes Broken, Highest Percent Hub 1 (8 boxes total): Turtle Woods - 0 boxes, blue gem (from 0 boxes) Snow Go - 2 boxes, red gem Hang Eight - 0 boxes, grey gem (from time trial) The Pits - 0 boxes Crash Dash - 6 boxes (from boulder) Hub 2 (26 boxes total): Snow Biz - 0 boxes Air Crash - 0 boxes (need Aku Aku), grey gem (from death route) Bear it - 9 boxes (from TNT auto detonate) Crash Crush - 17 boxes (from boulder) The Eel Deal - 0 boxes, green gem Hub 3 (17 boxes total): Plant Food - 0 boxes, gold gem (from time trial, need Aku Aku) Sewer or Later - 0 boxes, grey gem (from gold gem path) Bear Down - 2 boxes (from TNT auto detonate), Air Crash secret Road to Ruin - 0 boxes, grey gem (death route) Un-bearable - 15 boxes (from bear), Totally Bear secret level Hub 4 (15 boxes total?): Hanging Out - 13 boxes?, requires 2 masks for completion, Totally Fly secret level Diggin’ It - 0 boxes, grey gem (death route), Road to Ruin secret level Cold Hard Crash - 2 boxes, grey gem (death route), must be first try and have mask Ruination - 0 boxes, grey gem (green gem path), Aku Aku farm Bee-having - 0 boxes, purple gem Hub 5 (0 boxes total): Piston It Away - 0 boxes, grey gem (death route) Rock It - 0 boxes Night Fight - 0 boxes, grey gem (death route) Pack Attack - 0 boxes Spaced Out - 0 boxes, grey gem (all colored gem path) Hub 6 (secret hub): Totally Bear - requires boxes Totally Fly - 0 boxes, no gem In total, this is a grand total of 66 boxes broken by any means. If you only count boxes broken by Crash and no stage hazards, then there are only 17 required boxes. Unfortunately, I did not write down what percent completion I had achieved. The big mystery level on lowest box breaking is Hanging Out. In the one section ARD mentioned he needed an Aku mask for, instead there are unavoidable normal boxes and TNT crates. Something interesting I noticed was that by setting off one of the TNT crates and back tracking in the level to a certain point fast enough, the TNT auto detonates at what seems to be around the same time that some of the boxes unload from the level (at least from what I could tell since I don’t have access to mods). This was horribly inconsistent and a variable amount of boxes were broken every time it worked. My lowest total box count for the level was 13 boxes using this exploit, but an even lower box count could be possible. Using the item glitch, technically the game is possible to beat and 200% with only 2 boxes broken from Snow Go, but that kind of defeats the purpose of the challenge. If anyone manages to find a lower box count on any of the levels I mentioned, then by all means let me know.
