Surely after dark souls 1, Fromsoft will realise how bad the first sniper crossbow was, and improve it drastically in dark souls 3 :)

*TO GIVE FAIR WARNING* The audio absolutely bricks itself halfway through, then fixes itself after about 10 minutes. I did my best to represent the decaying world of lordran, and the continuous cycle of sacrifice that supports it by not editing the video very well and sacrificing your ears. Obviously, I did a perfect job of that. (sorry)

Actually, if you kill the guardian of the seal you can drain new londo and get a +15 weapon before o&s. So you weren't at a real brick wall, but it's good you didn't need it.

On the topic of favorite challenge runs, mine has to be Press Continue's "DS1 without spending souls" run. I especially love those challenge runs where they find a way to make a genuinely usable, even powerful build under seemingly impossible restrictions like that.

I was looking if any challengerunner actually pulled that run off on youtube, and out of all of these large channels with dozens of runs up to date, it's a random guy with 2.5k subs I had never heard of before who did it. Anyway, for a channel this size, the quality of the video is super good. It deserves so much more views.

Great video, music does get kinda loud tho when transitioning, and abruptly, might want to look into maybe fading it in and not having it go so loud. I was enjoying the video and then randomly I was like “OH DAMN WTF JUST HAPPENED” 😂 still loved the video tho, very entertaining, and found a new love for the sniper crossbow by using it in Elden ring for my RL1 character. Keep up the good work!

Nice run, I didn't know the Sniper Crossbow was THAT bad. I am curious though, why didn't you upgrade your flask earlier? You can get it to +5 by Anor Londo and +6 by Dukes Archives (technically +7 but it's nice to have the Firelink bonfire active so I usually skip that one)

Amazing video! I feel like you couldve saved yourself a lot of pain by getting +10, +5 fire, or lightning way sooner. I usually farm for +10 before ever leaving the depths

I definitely considered doing elemental damage instead, especially say +10 fire for Gwyn, artorias and manus but I felt like standard damage was just the most consistent for every boss since they were all going to take 8 years regardless

I'm definitely very late to talking about this but with Quelaag you could've used free aiming to try and hit her human body. She takes a ton of extra damage and gets stunned automatically when hit there so any time you're using a ranged build it's a good idea to go for it.

i love videos like this and it was amazingly well done for a first souls challenge video but i always had to skip bits where you play rly long loud portions of synthwave. might be better to just do some brief commentary for the fight and edit it shorter, or simply keep the in-game sound?

I'm not sure if you discovered this in later challenge runs, but you can kindle to 10 estus by default. The Rite of Kindling allows you to kindle two more times to a max of 20 estus.

An interesting way you could have done to get the Sniper Crossbow without cheating it in nor killing any bosses was to do the Firebomb glitch on Asylum Demon so it doesn't die and Oscar gives you the key, and then doing the Deathcam glitch to walk into Sen's Fortress.

The crossbow already has so much range that it wouldn't really, since boss arenas aren't massive like in elden ring. I definitely thought about it but the existing rings were just too useful to give up :(

It can take lightning as well, but honestly just stacking as much physical damage as possible worked out better, especially on the odd occasion I actually got counter damage.

When it comes to farming up lots of souls for ammo and the like, I honestly don't mind it when people use the value-storage glitch to get a bunch of souls. Farming with the drake is all well and good, but value-storage just saves time and is about the same level of risk. Just my 2-cents, I know it's not super relevant. Using it for levels is another thing entirely, I think it cheapens the fun, but when it comes to cheap items? Soul-dupe all ya want.

Definitely considered it but honestly I didn't really struggle to keep up ammo, since I wasn't scaling strength or anything alongside hp, I had so much extra souls that I could afford a billion bolts all the way through

Hawk ring works with any projectile that is physical, but the sniper crossbow already has such a high range that there isn't really a boss arena big enough to make use of it :')
