When trying to launch the scenario I get an error of the input combinator not spawning, did you experience this? If so, how did you fix it? edit: I'd ask in the scenario page, but the author has discontinued work.
I’d like to imagine there are more engineers out on the planet handling the mining, but they’ve locked you into this building because none of them want to have to deal with actual factory-building.
Every now and then, the building sends out a request for another belt of resources to be put into some side of it. Everything sent in never comes back out, including those scant few who dare to venture inside, and are never again seen or heard back from.
You actually don't need to pay attention to ratios at all. When a belt is backed up, you have a bottleneck in the production chain - either something that depends on it or something it depends on.
@@mrosskne When you do that you just need to be warey of placement strategies. My first end game base was just a long mall that had every intermediate resource on the main belt, with injection lines whenever line emptied.
This fits the EXACT type of playstyle I like doing. No biters. No need to explore the map to find more resources and export them somewhere else. Just a fun game of How compact can i get everything? Fun fact i managed to fit an entire set up of 3 furnace arrays into a lvl 1 building with 6 belts (half coal half iron ore) going into it. It was put in a lvl 2 building and the spaghetti is GLORIOUS in order to combine the iron and coal. Did take me a good hour or two to figure out.
Have you tried out the seablock modpack? It provides a similar experience, where your main concerns are managing to fit your builds and keeping control over the ever-increasing spaghetti, without having to worry about your resource patches running dry or biter attacks.
Not ashamed to admit I've only ever played on peaceful with high resource richness. My favourite part of this game is trying to make efficient factories, not building train lines to increasingly further off ore patches.
@@plebisMaximus you might enjoy the mod that adds infinite resource yields. You get the same throughput, but you never have to touch your starting iron/resources ever again.
@@Drag0nD3st0y3rDI dont even get it because i dont play Factorio (even still yet) lol, whats are beacons for? I just look at Factorio footage cuz this game looks mesmerizing. 😌

All this mod needs is belts and doors which can be arbitrarily linked via wiring, opening up the possibility of getting permanently lost in your very own non-Euclidian hellhole.
I'd like to see a 2 player version of this. 1 player on the outside of the factory that cannot craft, and can only belt resources into the factory(starts off with a few free belts). Second player inside the factory can't leave, they have to build the factory and output crafted items to the player on the outside of the factory. Neither player can go into the domain of the other player. This means that one player is in charge of offence/defence + resource gathering, and the other is in charge of crafting. Once the rocket is launched, both players swap positions so they can look at each others' situation.
yeah i'd like to see a version where you actually have to generate your resources instead of just getting them for free! but maybe not quite to the extent that Seablock goes to 😅
It somewhat frustrates me that you have this perfect setup to play with perfect ratio's and you make a half-assed factory, that could not even achieve 120 spm. Great video!
Even though it was just a moment, gotta give a HUGE thank you for including an epilepsy warning! It's really sad how few youtubers will include those, thank you!
are you affected by these types of things? I've always been curious what would constitute a productive epilepsy warning. Though im too lazy to google it myself lol.
@@killingtimeitself Not myself, but a close friend of mine is. He's not super sensitive but any sort of bright strobe lights can be a problem. The strobe lights in this video wouldn't cause anything beside some pain, but there's for sure other people where it would be potentially hazardous. It's one of those things where even if you're not sure if it's worth of an epilepsy warning might as well still add one. Only takes a second and can save some people from a lot of headache.
As a former nograsstouchany% I see a variety of improvements to be made to your run, such as not sleepin or having bitches but I see the potential so better start working
You should so some combined challenges. Use a wheel/randomizer and have it pick 1-2 things. Things like: All items are fluids + Recursive building thing or One of every item + all items are fluid or just do seablock with the FTL attached, its pure pain.
Bit of a weird 'challenge'. "Can you complete Factorio with infinite resources, no biters, and infinite space?" Amusing though as you proceed to make everything intentionally as slow and difficult for yourself as possible xD
one recommendation. if you do make fluid that you want to go only one way, make sure to set that on pipe. If you do, it acts as pump, takes all fluid on one end, and put it at the other. if you dont, pipes ballance themselves, so you getting 50% slower throughput, (in most cases even more)
Easiest Factorio challenge I've ever seen. Surprised the video isn't 5 seconds long. Just start a new game and you'll never see the outside world ever again 😅
I love the idea of using buildings to house certain modules of the base. I didn’t realize this mod existed but I’m definitely going to have to try it now
I have a Factorio challenge I've been mulling over in my head for a while, if only for the sheer impressive spaghetti it would create: Factorio but you can't remove buildings (no right clicking on them to pick them up, no disassembling with drones, etc.). That means that whatever you place for the factory, whether it be belts, furnaces, or poles, has to stay permanently and reused and reintegrated as the factory evolves. It would be glorious.
@@roellemaire1979 Don't make mistakes. If you do they become a part of the puzzle. "Upgrading" as in left-click replacing or "swapping out" is allowed. So you could replace a belt with a different colored one. As long as you don't right click to pick anything up (or use drones to deconstruct), you're doing it correctly. Mining and chopping trees is allowed. Techically you could blow things up with weaponry or the bugs, but I'd say that's against the spirit of the rules if not the letter and you should avoid doing it when possible.
@@anomonyous "One Button Man" has a nice ring but is misleading. You'd still need to right click to mine/chop trees. I was thinking "No Deconstruct Challenge". Simple but straightforward. If you truly love the idea of the challenge, then I kindly ask for your help in spreading it around. Encouraging the creation of videos or timelapses if possible. Here's a tip for your run: remember the two R's - Replace and Rotate. *Replace.* Some structures can be replaced by placing over them with other structures, returning them to your inventory. Intended as a quality-of-life feature in normal gameplay, it is now a near essential feature to use for the challenge. *Rotate.* Pressing "R" while hovering over an existing structure that has differing states of orientation (like a conveyor or inserter) will change its orientation. Another quality-of-life feature that becomes a useful tool for this challenge, allowing you to redirect the output of a conveyor line. Of course, it's likely you already knew about these. All the same, I wish you good luck.
im going to be honest i clicked on this thinking it was a doshdoshington video because i was baked and the fact that it convinced me it was in terms of quality for so long means this is an amazing video, great work
Factorio but you're doing an impression of the average Factorio player - by the time you leave that building after "five more minutes", it's a new year, you've been declared legally dead, and some historical event has been and gone... but with just a few more minutes, you can get that furnace array working perfectly, you swear.
You had the power to create the most beautifully organized factory and you instead opted to shove everything late game on the first level. Personally if I did this mod you wouldn't see an assembler until at least level four
I didn't know it was possible by watching a video, but watching this gave me so much stress and anxiety, I had the same physical reaction as to one of the worst days I have ever had.
It's actually easy. Anytime you run out of space in your factory, you build a factory in your factory. This is why factorissimo exists in the first place: to make more space.
This could've been so easily turned into a cursed run... "Factory buildings, but you can only go deeper", i.e. there can be only 1 building placed within each building.
Crazy? I was crazy once. They locked me in a factory a factory filled with biters. Biters make me crazy. Crazy? I was crazy once. They locked me in factory, it never stopped growing. Growing? Growing made me expand the factory. The factory? THE FACTORY MUST GROW
"Since we need to make stone bricks for the electric furnaces, I'll make some bricks to make the electric furnaces to make bricks for the electric furnace production." Ah yes, classic factory game pipeline.
I started playing this mod and forgot to turn off biters because if you don't then a rare glitch can occur where biters come and attack your factory causing you to become hardlocked out of progress. So a reminder to all who try this challenge, turn off biters otherwise you'll be doomed!
so far this is the only factorio content i've actually been able to watch and, holy shit, all of my factories are insane compared to this. i have been figuring out everything manually so far. do you know how many splitters i use? do you know how fucking time consuming it is to build anything because i have to Manually Craft splitters for 10 minutes to build one thing? i can go back into factorio now, freed from the burden of four splitters per machine. i'm free now thanks to you.
Once you have your basic resources set up earlygame, i recommend setting up some assemblers for things that you need to build your factory. Belts, inserters, splitters, undergrounds, assemblers, even things like electric mining drills are nice to have around. Dump them all into chests (remember to limit the slots on the chests, you won't want to end up with 2000 electric miners), and you'll wonder how you ever survived with hand crafting.
@@ajfish9514 i know i know. it was just that i had to handcraft a bajillion splitters in order to make the splitter factory in the first place, and now i don't have to do that!
I realize I'm late to this video, but I just wanted to say that sometimes in factorio (or anything really) you really do have to force yourself to overcome shit like that. Perfect is the enemy of good and all that
That Minecraft advancement edit was butter smooth, goodness. Especially apt when I'm already reminded of Minecraft's Compact Claustrophobia mod while watching this matryoshka madness.
This mod makes an excellent instruction video on how to setup arrays for specific items. I'm always hitting my head on how to produce certain items in a normal world.. this shows how to setup production of specific items. It also looks very similar to a nice minecraft mod :)
Thank you for bringing that to internet! Exact style of the game i have looked for. No usless roaming around. Just the main game mech - design the factory. That is similar to old addictive online game Factory IDLE that i think is still working as the Reactor IDLE of the same author. I spent hours of free time at my work to playing this games, because factorio is too serious to play at work. I still can't find how to start the mod being in the building alredy....
The thing with these kinds of playthroughts... you have to do them in almost one go or like playing several hours in a couple of days because if you save that map and you return to it like 2 months later, you're gonna be lost AF.
This challenge run reminds me of a mobile game I played, Sand Ship, you build factories of stuff in modules, but without the recursive stuff, I think, might have changed from what I know
@@DocJade Mobile games being mobile games, which really sucks, I might check it again after I finally finish a playthrough of Factorio without restarting midway.
"Which one, daddy?" *That day, daddy stared off into space for 3 hours in complete silence, before looking at us with bloodshot eyes. "All of them, Timmy. All. Of. Them." *He never spoke again after that.
Nice! Good job. I almost thought you'll build one train and dedicate one building to it when you researched it 😁 Love the mod. Can't live without it since I found it 😊
I like to think that you literally shrink when you walk in the buildings and by the time you're like 10 layers deep you're walking in between atoms. Although that causes of course many other issues.
I like this, there is probably some interesting things to do as well. Like Only allowing one factory building per layer, do force deepness. Or like a binary diagram, going one, two, four....
