This was the first way I finished the game, I just went overboard with farming experience after playing Fire Emblem 7 for a long time, where experience was more or less limited, unless you consider breaking a boss's weapons or the arena, of course.
I disagree in killing Natasha off, I think getting the killing edge would be very useful for Eirika, given her naturally high skill. Besides that, great run!
Thank you, and I agree the killing edge would have been nice to have. However, I wanted to try and use the other units as little as possible only moving them to try to keep them out of combat when they are force deployed. Also, I feel like it would have been extremely difficult to get Natasha to talk to Joshua with Eirika being her only bodyguard.
@@shellpoptheepicswordmaster755 you have to get past all the enemies with Erika only; Natasha typically just gets demolished by 2 attacks and that's it. It's either you get the items you can with Erika or let the bandits rampage by hunkering down
I am gonna try to play with just the royals. Which mean Eirika, Ephraim, Innes, Tana, Joshua, L'Arachel, and maybe Saleh(I not sure yet if I consider royalty being the Caer Pelyn elder only grandson). But I know it can be done but I wonder how quickly and what am I gonna promote Tana and L'Arachel to.
im assuming that tower training is out of the question for these runs? if not couldnt you technically farm lightbrand and runeswords from the tower for eirika ? not that im suggesting people do that since it would take forever but im just curious.
Yeah, I only wanted to play the main chapters. When I started the run I wasn't even aware that you could farm lightbrands and runeswords from the tower.
fire emblem solo runs are endlessly interesting to me. Especially in the older games where becoming a statistical monster is far more difficult to pull off.
Its pretty wacky considering the game never plans on the player being a psychopath who lets all the npcs and villages die, items get stolen, and all your exp and items being used on 1 unit. Basically like only using your starter in pokemon and having 5 other pokemon in your party to swap into to die so you can use items to heal your starter.
@@bluntlyhonest6803 False. Seth can go to a movie theatre, order a steak, and he will get it. Sigurd? Removed from the theater. Shamed. Cancelled. Not based.
One thing that would work somewhat around Eirika's swordlocked problem is that you can RNG manipulate to get a bonewalker on the first floor of the Tower of Valdi to spawn carrying a droppable runesword. Not only is it 1-2 range, but it sells for a good price, so it's possible, though tedious and impractical, to farm runeswords without depleting your funds. Still, they're not ideal because they break so quickly.
This was actually a really fun video format! I figured eirika would get really annoying being locked to 1 range (its even annoying in casual playthroughs for me lol). Keep up the good work!
I attempted this challenge before but hit a wall at chapter 15. Eirika would never stay alive long enough for Ephraim to link up with her. Your weaponless gate strategy for Eirika was very clever and probably the only reasonable way to clear it in this challenge.
I can imagine an Ephraim solo is fairly easy. Eirika on the other hand, well, sword locked infantry units aren't done any favors in these GBA games, sadly. At least she gets a horse, unlike Roy and Lyn. But she doesn't have lances like Eliwood did upon promotion. Since FE8 was always one of my favorite FE, I'm glad your video ended up in my recommendation.
@@sadagusfate easiest way to handle that is go to the tower of valni after soft resetting the game so a rune sword drop spawns, kill that enemy, then use the runesword to kill the egg 1 range units can't reach in chapter 18 and then discard the runesword to prevent it from being used for anything else
I remembered Eirika not being very good but this just unlocked some memories from the first time i played sacred stones. I also remember Ephraim being very good and yeah, he still is lol. But amazing video, it was so entertaining to watch. I'm a very casual player so i was so impressed the whole time how you could carry the whole run without depending on Seth 😔
Eirika not very good? She's one of the best dodge tanks in the series. The sword-lock sucks but because so many enemies are monsters it's not that bad.
Eirika's biggest weakness is lack of 1-2 range. If they provided Wind Sword a bit easier (Engage even literally gave her mid rank weapon as Wind Sword) or gave Sieglinde 1-2 range that would fix her up quite a bit. Other problem with Eirika is late promotion. If she could promote a bit earlier she'd probably be much better as well.
I've done a trainees only run (I allowed myself to use the force deployed lord but kinda just soft ruled it that they couldn't be the carry, but were allowed to help out) Berserker Ross DPS Paladin Amelia movement and objectives Mage knight Ewan: healing and mobility
Tried this challenge on both routes. Ephraim's was by far the easier challenge until you get to around chapter 15 (the desert chapter where you face Valter and Caellach). Of course, the main issue is this is the map where Eirika rejoins, and therefore she hinders the map progression badly since Ephraim has to go rescue her. After that, it's basically just a matter of time before you get their class changes and weapons and Ephraim easily snowballs the rest of the game until you fight Lyon and the Demon King. On Eirika's route I stopped around chapter 13ish because Eirika simply could not survive. Granted I might have gotten a terrible Eirika (although I've never gotten a good Eirika anyways and she sucks horribly), so that route was a bust. Ephraim's route has a few bumps, but at least he has good bases and even better growths. The only lackluster problem is his speed caps out at 24, meaning some enemies he can't double, and Siegmund has a high weight. Eirika's route, unless you get defense buffs, relies totally on the rng to complete. And I would not recommend it. Especially when almighty Seth stands 3 feet off to the side.
Just throw in a few Levin swords in any potential remake. Like how there was a Levin sword available in Alm route in Echoes. That might help Eirika a bit.
Eirika literally has Wind Sword in Engage. In FE8 its impossible to get one (or Runesword) outside of Valni/postgame. Carlyle should have dropped his Wind Sword.
Yeah, i beat them, but i only use Ephraim, and i gave him lots of javelin to counter most of magic user and bow💀 I put Eirika aside cuz i cant unselect her, but the last level is hella hard, 💀💀💀💀
It’s possible for Erica to counter 2 range units, but it takes some luck and spamming the Tower of Valni. A bonewalker randomly spawns on the first floor and drops the Runesword. While the sword only has 15 uses and can’t crit, it has a lifesteal effect and is ranged so it has some good use on someone like Erika who otherwise has no range option.
I don't think it's a hard enough challenge. I have seen someone clear FE8 with just Seth in 0% growths, and I have cleared FE8 with just Ephraim in 0% growths.
I remember an Eirika solo challenge failed at the volcano map, as no 2 range tools prevented her from killing some enemies. I’m saying this is possible. The final boss may say otherwise though.
FR they should have made the light sword or rune sword more accessible. You can teach her magic with the glitch so she can have access to 2 range but that’s cheating.
Yeah for Eirika you have to get her 1-2 Runeswords from Valni. Its literally impossible otherwise. You can cheese the RNG to guarantee a Runesword relatively easy which makes it less tedious and doesn't require enemy control glitch. It can even be done on a no grinding run as Eirika will reach 20 a lot earlier via soloing.
What a coincidence, I also about 1 month ago did the same challenge: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6lbBkiGR0dw.html Before that I did the 3 Lords Challenge on Hector Hard Mode: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Iuw2cvH9unI.html In both cases, for all units, I either made them sell their stuff, put it in storage, or just drop it if no other option and then let them get killed. I also considered that as "not attacking".
I’ve done this before and it definitely works. They both become ridiculously strong in the mid-late game, and are even pretty good at their starting levels.
Fun video! I would recommend next time you make a challenge run like this to create a narrative or alternatively present it like a sarcastic walk-through or something. Just describing exactly what we already see happening on screen gets boring after a few minutes. Chapter 15 is a spot where its really noticeable that you just keep repeating "...and then i ____, and then i ____..." Just have a way to fill in the blank space next time besides describing whats happening so literally.
Because challenge runs typically skip skirmishes and Tower of Valni. Magic swords in Sacred Stones cannot be acquired in main chapters until 19, and even then you only get one. Carlyle should have dropped his Wind Sword, its really dumb that he doesn't. The GBA games really screw over sword locked units with lack of 1-2 range swords for no good reason.
I never bothered with the rest of FE games because I personally think the change to 3d makes them looks like garbage, but I gotta ask. They never added a 1-1 range option for swords other than magic ones? Like a throwing dagger or something?
Daggers and knives are a separate weapon type in some games. In Fates only, there are two throwing swords. The kodachi, a 1-2 range sword which cannot double or crit. And the wakizashi, a 2 range only sword that cannot double.
Radiant Dawn has Wind Edges, Storm Swords and Tempest Blades, which are pretty much the Sword equivalent to Javelins, Short Spears and Spears respectively.
@@davey_rulez7301Wind Edge, Runesword, and Light Brand are all in Sacred Stones. They are not easily accessible, though, only available once in the main story, you have to grind skirmishes or Valni to acquire them.
