Me, an economist : in such a world, emerald would not worth anything, and the wealthiest things to have would be redstone, considering coal and iron are findable dues to iron forges and torches in towns. Gold is easily findable in the nether now. Lapis lazuli is also "findable" as priests have enchanted books and stuff. Diamonds, despite being rare, are still here in a few chests and in deals (but still worth nothing as they exchange that for 35 emerals, meaning nothing here) ! So its like dealing with dirt. Why not villagers !
