In a game as dependent on teamwork as Steven Universe: Save the Light, can Steven conquer every challenge thrown his way completely by himself? Today, we find out! #StevenUniverse #SaveTheLight #Supersonic1014
This challenge sounds as fun as trying to digging your way out of prison but your only material is a spoon (and this fight basically supports my statement)
@Nathan Dresdner the animator I honestly don't find the same enjoyment for Save the light as I do Unleash the light. I don't know why but I just hate the areas, and while yes, Unleash the light has linear paths like Attack the light, I actually like that much more than an Open-World.
Seems like a classic Steven Universe episode. Decides he wants to be an edgy loner kind of hero, and it starts out funny, but it causes him a lot of grief, so he learns the valuable lesson that it’s okay to get help from the people you care about.
@@possessedpicklejar4762 Steven was still way too immature back in season 1, he literally wouldn't listen and would probably do something stupid to get himself into trouble like a normal kid would
@@nothingtoseehere9648 Exactly. That’s why I feel the plot line would start from him watching some show with an edgy loner hero and him wanting to emulate that.
If you heal the prism knight when hesonite is hitting them , they give hesonite a crazy big defense debuff Which maybe could make your hell a bit more tolerable
I like to think that Steven getting up so close against Squaridot is because he's actually a _big_ fan of some Dead Man's Volley, and trying to be anti-Power of Friendship has in turn made him overconfident in his capabilities with it
I still think Steven would try a challenge like this. Not because he doesn't value friendship, but rather the opposite. He wants to know about his friends because he cares about them- so he would do like, a solo run of a single dungeon with every character, to find out where they struggle and where they excel, so he can put them in a party with people where they truly shine.
41:09 A strategy for hessonite is to wait until she attacks the prism, then heal the prism cuz then the prism will lower hessonites defense by A LOT, which in turn would make Steven do a lot more damage
i healed it but i didnt know it would do this, instead, i opted to buff connie with stevenes uke and spam the ever loving shit out of connies sword storm ability along with overdosing on the better star fruits
Yeah that's how it works in that game, and it actually makes sense considering they're quite ancient and killed a lot. It's always so funny when in other games a literal god is at level 1 while the child you play as is level 100 haha
You can shave a rulebreak off with the light dew by doing a set of movements to hop up the rock on the left back of that cliff where the chest is and using it to hop over to the cliff. Speedrunners use that trick to shave time off the run! (Figured it was worth bringing up since abusing level geometry to try a skip of another character was brought up other places but not there.)
@@gldni17 Hah, I was itching to point it out but didn't know initially if speedrun/geometry skips counted so I waited until other ones got said/attempted in the video later. XD I actually looked to make sure it hadn't been said before I commented, even! (I've never done a speedrun myself (though I've been joking about doing one and then calling it "technically" the Switch world record no matter how bad it is because there are no listed Switch runs XP), but I've been practicing most of the skips so I was like "no!! you can shave it off!!".)
@@Gaminggalaxy1111 I actually tried un-picking Connie in the tutorial on the Switch version and couldn't do it! (I tried playing a Steven only run just to see if I could swing cutting rulebreaks out about a month ago--I didn't technically complete the run because I stopped playing when I died on Hessonite, but technically I did it in less rulebreaks.) I don't know if I don't know how or did it wrong but I couldn't shave the tutorial break off when I tried. Technically the route I used involved deliberately flagrantly violating the rules to do forge skip, but because that results in a net reduction in rule breaks due to the large amount of game it skips I count it as an improvement. XD
In the final fight, you were supposed to heal the Prism with Steven to be able to deal real damage against Hesonite, wich is how you normally beat this this boss in a normal playthrough, meaning you made your final fight way harder than it should be for nothing :( .
Tf u mean Normal Playthrough? A normal Giga Chad beat’s Hesonite with only Steven using his super shield bash ( or the third upgrade or- I dunno what was the name lol )
2:11 can you imagine if the game didn’t let you break Steven out of this crystal and forces you to play as the other characters in the game instead of Steven. So Steven Is just trapped inside the crystal for the whole game, I can see him inside the crystal and it’s nighttime and Steven whimpers: am so cold…
Fun fact. In some areas if you bounce the enemies off the platform with steven they don't die but instead follow a path to try and get back up the platform that everything ells is but this can take really long as they have to do a whole platforming section or they just get stuck
Love this kind of challenges where you restrict something on a game in order to make it harder 🤩🤩🤩 What about using a similar playthrough in the future? Like a game WITHOUT Steven or without upgrade points? PS: Awesome video 😋👏
A playthrough without Steven likely wouldn't be very hard as Steven only really plays a support role most of the time, so having a combo like Garnet and Greg would likely still steamroll the game. Same with not using skill points, though I'd be down to try it to see if I'm proven wrong! I do have another idea for a hard challenge in this game though, so I'll put it on the back burner for later :)
@@Supersonic1014 Gorgeous! Love to see it soon. Great video! PS: It's hilarious to listen yourself to swear. Really having the gaming spirit 😂😂😂 don't change that pls, is great
@@Supersonic1014 Hessonite could've been done easier if you healed the Prism (when you heal the prism (with steven's healing move) and Hessonite is attacking it then she will get a defense debuff.)
@@Supersonic1014 An idea i thougt up for a challenge of this game is a "friendship run", basically you only use "passive" moves, (like bubble) and team attacks/fusions. So you'd only be able to deal damage with team abilities or with greg who would be able to use attack jam since the jams are all one move AND it's damage over time, not direct damage. (The second justification also works for Peridot too).
Wonder if this challenge would be more viable with Unleash The Light? iirc Steven has more attacks in that game and there's less things requiring the use of other characters
Normal “Can you beat x game when y” Challenges: This challenge is only possible because of this cool glitch I found!!! This Challenge: The run is just not possible and also I found a bunch of glitches that soft-locked me.
During my playthrough, in the secret area of the forge, my game bugged out and I ended up playing solo Steven and fighting a group. It was scary, but I had the stronger shield attack. Also, I was still able to move for some reason. So I was able to run away from the big melee guys. I won and the team rejoined me after the fight. Solo Steven can win if he cheats.
Never expected to see a challenge from this game, and a unique one too!, and this video made me realise how trash Steven actually is lmao (Also, the parts where the game glitches and doesn't work is really funny and relatable, i thought those glitches only happened to me)
I got stuck in the first battle, when I attacked an enemy with Connie I don't know what I did but the game kind of froze or something like that, I don't know
the fact that the exact same glitch at 35:00 happened to me in the exact same place is golden truly a well polished, defining, and thriving Steven Universe experience
Steven Universe in the show: I'll fix everything by myself so no one will be stressed Steven in this video: I am the only one worthy of doing something. You all are only good for meat shields
First ever Steven Universe content creator I have watched, and I am immediately welcomed with a bunch of cursing and angry gamer noises. ... Perfect. ^^ This was honestly very entertaining, and I am glad you made it as far as you did with just Steven. I do feel bad for you in that end game, but hey, at least it made for good content. 😁 That last boss fight seemed like a war of attrition tho. Dear lord.
I think I actually remember getting behind the orange gate in strawberry battlefield without the key on SPECIFICALLY the switch version (possibly the buggiest version of the game) I never even got PAST strawberry battlefield though, because the game is buggy and it kept saying I didn’t have enough tungsten even though I got them all.
Any option that does not result in immediate damage (Garnet punching for ex) is banned, though passive damage, like Greg's song and Connie's counter are allowed. Only one option seemed to be able to help against Dave, as Greg doesn't reach (even at the front) and since Dave doesn't directly attack, the counter is useless. The option in question was the first pulse of I think Garnet + Steven's song. Since it does pitiful damage for that one hit, and using it again would require filling the entire meter again, I didn't bother.
The thing i love about this is that I’ve been through all these glitches and each time you got in the area with a glitch i started laughing. This game is perfectly coded
There is a way to make Hessonite's battle much smoother that almost no one knows about despite being the primary way to beat her, but it might count as a rule break. Healing the light warrior while Hess is near it will make it fire a pulse of energy the gives a massive defense down to the boss, but again, the light construct helps you here so it's technically teamwork, but at the same time it's not part of your party.
I don't know if your version is different or it was a glitch but for the green dew I ended up with 2 extra. You may be able to remove one rule break by closing the game and waiting for Chroma to refill and then beating the enemies who drop the green dew. Mine was the group on the right of the dew chest that dropped fairly consistently.
AYO I hadn’t seen any content from you in a long long while, had to do a double take when I realized who exactly I was watching. Enjoyable watch, keep it up!
42:49 This reminds me of the final boss of Omori. I've seen a pic of MC beating the enemy to death with his weapon, which may I remind you, is not meant to be used as a weapon. Steven is beating in Hessonite's face with a shield and she's just sitting there and taking it
Funny how Steven got shield throw making him more useful in unleash the light PS: Hessenite in unleash the light is a playable character for a final boss fight (oh and I think you can unlock her in pink rooms (roguelite mode)
Great video! Would you be willing to try beating this game with only certain characters to see who can and cannot? For example, see if you can beat this game with (almost) only Peridot or Greg.
My entire safe file is glitched, so the forge door won't open, so I need to use the speedrun strat or warp in to progress. As you said... perfectly coded
Absolutely great video as a kid I always wanted to play save the light and now I know I probably should've as it's a perfectly developed game with no flaws (p.s. what's the name of the song on your outro I remember it just not the name😭)
"Is it very entertaining content" well i mean coming from a guy who hasn't done much steven universe content watching in a while and only recently got back into it you made me stay through 46 minutes of you talking about how frustrated you were with this run so i guess that's entertaining enough.
I was just going to skip to the end then see what was the result but once he started fighting next thing I know it has been 46 minutes 💀. It was really entertaining to watch so yeeeee :D.
Im surprised you beat hessonite in a single attempt. She has a quickdraw attack that oneshots whoever she decides to point her sword at, that cannot be stopped by the bubble. If she decided to use that on steven at any point in that half hour fight, it would be an instant failed attempt. Also did you know that if Steven heals the prism while hessonite is attacking it, it lets out a pulse of energy that greatly lowers her defense.
I saw it on a RU-vidr's let's play, but it never showed up in mine and I couldn't find who played it so I thought I just made it up, thank you for letting me know it actually exists.
this kinda reminds me of attack the light, where Steven didn’t have ANY offense moves in attack the light, thank GOD Steven isn’t just some child that watches on, and he can fall like the gems, so he has more prominence in fights.
The fact that they have so many pointless invisible walls where tight jumps are possible, or softlocks where a metal block needs to be moved, just goes to show that they did in fact predict someone avoiding regular gameplay and they did the bare minimum to prevent this. So minimal that it's still technically possible to sequence break it using the very methods they tried thwarting.
Coming to this video hot off a lot of watching Rise of the Teenage Mutant NinjaTurtles and you give me so many Donatello vibes. Like enough that my fanfic currently brain fogged brain is like "is he...?!" 😂 I mean it does combine two of my most recent hyperfixations. Lol. But it is probably just my foggy brain's way of telling me I like your vibe
14:00 Focusing on the snowball's shadow is 1 thing, but when it goes around, faster and faster, like a Red Shell from Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time? Christ.
I'd really like to see if it's actually possible to beat the game without doing ANYTHING with the other characters in battle. That means, only Steven can heal or block attacks. You can still do the stuff that requires them outside battles, but I really just want to see you suffer on the Squaridot boss XD
Oooh I did the same thing with Peridot! Unfortunately any character other than Steven has to be unlocked and she's the last one ^^' Hessonite got obliterated by her turrets, lol
In short, not without being forced to use other characters during certain parts of the game like the guitar puzzle door and garnet being needed for a few obstacles
