Can you beat Super Meat Boy with randomized characters? 

I love how Steve seems to be a top tier character who doesn't play by the same rules as everyone else no matter what kind of crossover game he's in.

There is actually a secret character in the steam version of super meat boy, Tim from the popular indie game "braid" he can rewind his movement while being invulnerable during it Type "outtatime" on the character select menu and play. Unlike other secret characters, there is no "Push the Buttons!" voice indicator

When you realise that Flywrench can be the 2nd best option in some levels.

I wish super meatboy had like some ultimate edition that brings all characters from the platforms they where exclusive too since exclusive wars are basically over. Along with level editor to all platforms.

I wonder how early the challenge would end if he included Tofu Boy...

This video kinda got me back into super meat boy after not touching it for about 2 years. One thing though is I don’t remember flywrench being considered such a detriment, I actually quite like them. Cause of that I actually just went through the whole light world as flywrench, every level is possible. Some levels require you to think outside the box which was a nice challenge, if you put their gimmick to use you can accomplish some neat skips. Something I’ve taken to note is that flywrench’s second jump can differ in height depending on how long you let the first jump last. If you spam it it’ll go nowhere, if you let yourself get airtime it can make good horizontal movement and pretty good vertical hight. The light world run took me around 30-40 minutes to beat as flywrench and I’ll attempt dark world at some point as soon as I unlock it all as I have less progress done on pc. Uncertain if you’ve completed your dark world run yet but I hope you’re willing to give flywrench a chance

Alien Hominid is not in the character select screen because of the different characters in the console version, you get different characters for the bandages. In order they are Gish, Alien Hominid, Tim, Spelunky, Pink Knight and The Ninja. Alien Hominid is the character you get for 30 bandages, replacing Josef on the PC version. For some reason, Alien Hominid was added to the PC version as a mistake maybe, this would explain why he is the only character (excluding meat boy) who doesn't have a character unlock screen. (also, proud flywrench user here, flywrench is way better than all the other characters)

Great video. If you do the Dark World, I’d love to see you use Tim, Goo Ball, and Brownie since they’re the only characters outside of Tofu Boy that are missing from this video.

I absolutely loved this video! The montage for World 4 was actually really neat and made me want to play the game myself. Only issue was that the start felt a bit slow but with some time it picked up to one of the greatest videos I have ever watched. Will make sure to watch more.

Wow - I'm suprised this video came out so recently! I still play SMB all the time - I'm surprised that you said that Flywrench was one of the characters you were hoping to avoid though! I've literally done an entire playthrough with just Flywrench before (at least of the light world - I can't remember if I've done every level of dark world with him, but I've certainly done many if not all of them with him) and unlike some characters, he can actually beat every stage as far as I know. Some characters (like Ogmo, for example, who I used a lot in my early game of my first playthrough) are (as far as I know) too slow for certain stages, like the ones where you disappearing cages and stuff like that. :) I know you were worried about Flywrench's jump height and sprint speed, but I never found either to be a problem - I've always found that he was fast enough to outpace any elements of the levels, and his jump was always high enough to get the job done. :) He's actually one of my favorite characters, and in fact, I actually think he makes many levels a lot easier - that extra jump can really save you sometimes, and his ability to preserve his height using his jumps mean that you can get a lot of extra distance with him in the air, which (in my experience) more than makes up for his lack of ability to jump off a wall :) Maybe I just got used to him or something, but yeah, going back to the game now, I actually find most levels easier with Flywrench than even Meat Boy, haha. :) But maybe I'm just weird or something. :) Anyway, great video, and I'm excited to see the dark world one next! :)

Since you can play as steve this means you're on pc, so you could mod super meat boy to make other characters playable in world 6 and world 7 (and including boss levels as wel)

I find it interesting, I play the Nintendo switch version where characters are different, for example, we don't have head crab, but we have this black goo thing that has slow movement speed, low jump hight, can stick to walls and even climb on the ceiling... sadly we don't have tofu boy. a secret character for the steam version (Tim) is just the reward for getting 50 bandages in the switch version, I haven't memorised all of the switch characters so there probably are more changes I can't remember, I probably will get the game on steam eventually just so I can use all the characters

Alien Hominid got console HD version, with it being ported on first November 2023 with the release of its sequel, Alien Hominid Invasion. Edmund Mcmillen (creator of Meat Boy and the Binding of Isaac) started there, so its nice to see Team Meat adding Alien Hominid and Castle Crasher to the game (also Castle Crasher is availaible on Newgrounds Meat Boy, and i've seen him on one guys vid of console version of SMB).
