as a teenager, i made the demo outfits for sears a million years ago. they had the same policy. once the fabric was down to a remnant, i got the outfit back if i wanted it, or it was sold (like a child's outfit, etc.) i had so much fun and learned a lot about fabrics and made all kinds of outfits - wedding, formals, baby stuff, crafts) the employee discounts on my fabric purchases was icing on the cake.
Thanks for taking us along, you are so elegant and your love of sewing is clear. I love sewing and fabric shopping and don’t live near any fabric districts so i live a little vicariously through these videos.
Aww. Thank you so much. Sewing really does make me happy. I’m glad it shows. So happy to learn that you love sewing too. I think it’s such a great hobby. I truly appreciate you watching and coming along shopping with me.
You're welcome. I had no idea either. I thought that was good to know and interesting. Thank you so much! Looking forward to wearing the coat this winter.
Hi, Joyce. This coat didn't have a lot of pieces and wasn't a hard make at all. Definitely looking forward to wearing it this winter. Thank you so very much.
Yes!!! I absolutely do love sherpa. It’s one of my favorite fabrics. Thank you so very much!!! I can’t wait to see how warm the coat is going to keep me this winter. I hope you make one! :)
Loving your cozy sherpa pullover, and coat wrap. I also enjoyed watching you fabric shopping. The denim fabric you selected for overalls is a winner too.
Oooh what a treasure of that striped denim!!! I like that sherpa/corduroy fabric for that coat!! PERFECT! Cool info. on the sewn up garments on at HL! I never knew that. I guess if you don't ask, you will never know. It pays to be inquisitive! Your coat looks GREAT!! 🥰
Hi, Grace. I had no idea either. I was curious about the overalls because I thought they were just so stinkin' cute. I was like, "I wonder...." Lol. I couldn't wait to share what I learned. The striped denim was such a great find. It was really reasonable too. Thank you so much.
Hi. The coat looks great on you. The choice of fabric is perfect. I forgot about this pattern. I have it in my stash. I will attempt to make this. Thanks for sharing. ☺️
It took me a long time to purchase this pattern. I’m so glad I gave it a try, and finding the sherpa fabric was definitely right on time. So glad you’re going to make this. You’re most welcome. . Thank you so much.
Thank you so much. When I picked up the pattern I immediately thought it would be great in sherpa fabric. I was so excited that Hobby Lobby still had some left. I felt like it was meant to be. Really looking forward to wearing it this winter.
O my .. I see touch and adore that jumper every time I visit HL. But it’s way smaller size for me to lure to. Yes I have bought those demo garments really cheap for hobby lobby but it’s just chance to hit that sale before someone else grabs it and if your size. Usually when season changes.
I have been adoring that jumpsuit too. So cool that you’ve been able to purchase some items in the past. I will be so excited just to see an item on sale now that I know. Mentioning the change of season is great. I’ll keep that in mind as I’m looking for a sales tag. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much. I hope you're able to still find some of the sherpa. It's such a nice fabric. Thanks for sharing about a clearance wall. Interesting. I may have to look for that next time I'm in store. That's cool.
Wow…..just wow! That coat is fantastic. Do you do tutorials? I’m a quilter and i know my way around a sewing machine but have never tackled a clothes pattern. I’m going to subscribe and check out your other videos. Great video.
Great job on the coat! I did know that Hobby Lobby sold their samples. If you know someone in the fabric department very well you could ask them to call you when the item is available. JoAnn’s used to do that too and you could put your name and phone number on the back of the info card if you were interested.
I'll have to get back into sewing.I worked in a fabric store called Piece Goods Shop many years ago. We got to keep anything we made for display to promote fabric or crafts after it was on display for a certain amount of time.
You make coats? Can we be friends? I've never seen any of my sewists make a coat before. It looks very nice and warm. Thank you for the info on Hobby Lobby. It never occurred to me to ask what they do with the clothing that's sewn. Have a blessed day.
😂Sure. We can be friends. I was so happy to find the sherpa fabric for the coat. Can’t wait to wear it this winter to see how it holds up. I actually had never thought to ask about the displays either until I noticed the super cute overalls. You’re welcome. Have a blessed day as well!! Thanks for watching.
I’ve 54 and have been sewing since I was 7. I only learned how to read patterns at 43-44 yrs young. I was taught how to design by my grandmother. I love 🤎that fabric, the only thing is I would have put the Sherpa on the inside he kept the corduroy on the outside
I love the fabric too. I was extremely happy that Hobby Lobby still had some in the store. Designing is an amazing skill to have. My grandmother sewed too :)
Hi, Terri. I was so happy to find out what happens with those displayed garments. So interesting. Thank you so very much. I’m excited to wear the coat this winter.
Gosh, that rain is steady and pouring. Oh, my God, Manecoarse! I made that coat out of the exact corduroy Sherpa and those denim and the railroads stripe. I love this coat in the sherpa❤❤❤. Great finds!
Yes. The rain was coming down all day long. I'm so glad you were able to get some of that sherpa fabric. I think it's sold out now, but it was wonderful. I was glad that they still had some in store when I went in. I love the striped denim, and the price was really reasonable. Thank you so much.
I really like this video. Great content. But, I am concerned about your driving and recording. Your eyes are on the camera, less on the road and surroundings. Please stay safe.
I love your pullover! You said you made it years ago but yet that’s the style “once again”…so amazing. You are so very talented; and very pretty! 😊 Keep up the fabulous videos!
Aww. Thank you so much. Now I’m blushing.🤗 I really appreciate that. I agree about the pullover still being in style. It’s such a classic piece. I really love it. Thanks again. :)
I stumbled on your channel. You did a very nice job on the coat. I like your choices in front pockets and side pockets as well as using a belt and not adding a button! Impressed with the final results!
Many years ago , I worked for So-Fro Fabrics ( now defunct). We were able to make store samples that were used for display for a limited time. At the end of the display period, you got to keep the display if you made it.
Okay, I'm going to need that coat.😅....you make everything so simple to sew and I appreciate that. Thanks for inquiring about the garments that are sewn in Hobby Lobby #now I know😂❤❤❤❤
You are so welcome. I couldn’t wait to share the news. :) Thank you so much. I was so excited to find more of the Sherpa fabric. Now I’m really looking forward to wearing the coat this winter.
Oh my that coat turned out sooooo cute!!!!! Great job sweetie. When I first saw the first striped denim, my mind went immediately to overalls too.....looking forward to seeing what you do with the denim Have a great day/week!!
Heyyyyy, Lynette. Thank you so much. I had sherpa fabric in mind for this coat pattern, and finding sherpa fabric on the day I went to Hobby Lobby just worked out perfectly. I will definitely share what I do with the striped denim. Yes. I thought it was screaming overalls. Lol.
I love your wide stripped denim. My Hobby LOBBY had a white and peach floral fabric made into a pair of bibs but they didn't have and couldn't find the pattern that was used. Your coat is lovely
White and peach floral fabric into a bib sounds super cute. What your Hobby Lobby had or has sounds very interesting. I was so happy to find the fabric I found while shopping. I love the striped denim too. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much. It must've been my lucky day. I was going to see if Hobby Lobby possibly still had some of that sherpa left, and when they did, it was like hitting the jackpot. :)
It came out great! I was trying to figure out how to take advantage of the corduroy and make it reversible. Maybe French seams with topstitching them down. Although difficult with thick fabric. I enjoyed the leisurely feel, subscribed!
Thank you so much. Making something reversible in this fabric would be brilliant. There's no "wrong" side to this fabric. :) Welcome. I'm so happy you're here and decided to subscribe.
@@Manecoarse I was thinking and a reversible coat might work with this fabric if you trimmed one side of the sewn seam allowance then folded the remaining sewn seam allowance back over the seam and topstitched it down. That would reduce the bulk of the seam. I might try it myself!
I'm sew happy 😊 for you , enjoying what you ❤ doing , sew very ❤ warming on a cold & rainy day , this place called earth , you gotta make your own sunshine , lots of luck to you beautiful ❤😊👍🏾🌹🙏🏽
Oh my goodness I love your channel I just started to get my groove back on in my sewing, I use too sew a lot of my clothes as a teen in the 70’s my mother was a fantastic seamstress and made all of our school clothes because it was more affordable back in the days❤. so I subscribed to your channel 🙌🏼you are so adorable and that coat you’ve made is beautiful 🤩 ❤
Aww. Thank you so much for your kind words and for subscribing. I’m so happy to have you here. Reading your comment reminded me of my grandmother who sewed clothes for her children. Sweet memories. Welcome back into the sewing world. :)
