Today I made my first visit to Changi Village, Singapore. It's a weekend hideout area first developed by the British. There are no villages currently but still can enjoy the tranquility and beautiful scenery. It's really a pity tourists don't come here (or know here). If I was a tour guide, I will definitely bring my group and let them enjoy great food at the hawker centre and treat them local brewed beer. A must-visit area in Singapore!

A lot of people got mixed up after the renovation few years ago at Changi hawker centre when all the food stalls were re-shuffled. The original famous nasi lemak is International Nasi Lemak which used to occupy the unit which Mizzy is occupying now. International Nasi lemak is now at the first row facing the bus interchange. Goes to show some people just queue blindly and they can't tell the difference in taste. Go to the first row facing the bus interchange and look for the sign board "International Muslim Food Stall Nasi Lemak".

I love the beach at Changi Village. Even more so than the one at East Coast Park. It’s probably the last natural beach left in Singapore. Most of our coastlines underwent land reclamation so the beaches aren’t naturally formed ones anymore.

hmm If I am not wrong, the famous stall in the earlier days was "International Muslim Food Stall Nasi Lemak". As for those deep fried small fish, we call it "ikan bilis". A basic nasi lemak is usually about the nice fragrance rice, crispy ikan bilis, sambal chili and a small slice of omelette. Items like chicken wings, fishcake, otak came in later days when people no longer eat it just a simple fast meal. By the way, I notice Ghib san is a fan of sugarcane juice ya. 😀 And if you walked further to the Changi Beach Park, there is a sad history of it during the World War 2.....😓
@likacoin2490
@likacoin2490 4 года назад
The stall he went to Mizzy Corner is the right famous one. Basically it is a constant fight between the two stalls which one is THE nasi lemak of Changi V. Personally, I prefer Mizzy Corner.

- As mentioned by some of your viewers, Mizzy used to be better than International, but the tables turned after they renovated the hawker centre. - There is a restaurant called Coastal Settlements nearby. The food is so-so, but it is a quaint little place that houses a lot of antiques like cars, furniture etc. - There are a lot of nekos in that area. I used to feed them in the evening. They are probably hiding from the heat in the afternoon. - From Changi Village, you can take a 30 min boat ride to Pulau Ubin. There is a house on the island that is open to public. You can see how old kampong houses used to look like. There are durian and rambutan trees on the island too, but you need a good eye to spot them. - You might want to visit Henderson Wave too. Love your videos. Keep them coming :)

Beer and good food man! Life is good! You're sooo right. I visited Singapore last year, and absolutely loved it I remember one night after a great day sight-seeing, I had a huge glass of beer at one of those places outside the Marina Bay Shoppes, then went to sit on the boardwalk. I was definitely feeling good 😁 Then it started drizzling, and a cool breeze blew, and there were low clouds across the bay, with lightning flashing in and around them...it was great. I took a selfie (which I usually don't do) to remember that great feeling I had at that moment. I was taking a video of the clouds, and lightning etc., and was narrating it. Only when I reached home, and reviewed the footage did I realise/remember I said "Singapore I love you!" 😂OMG, I was a bit drunk...

You need a passport to enter but once through, there's a whole new area for you to explore, from popular eateries to quiet town/villages. You can rent a bike or take a taxi at the Johor side jetty. Further north is Desaru (1 hr drive) popular spot for Singaporeans/Malaysians. Go find out more, definitely worth making a day trip if you like rustic places ans its pretty near Singapore.

Thank you for another great video and showing us around Changi Village. I felt like a tourist! Haha 😂 birds are a big problem in many famous Hawker centres for many years now. People are not feeding them, but coz Singaporean don’t usually clear their own plates after they are done, the birds will come almost immediately!! 😳😣😣 Other than our Singapore government culling them, we should clear up our plates after ourselves and be a socially responsible person, not coz there is a fine now if caught not clearing the plates after you are done at Hawker centres.then in years to come, their population can be controlled. Nowadays besides crows, we have a lot of pigeons!

There are a plethora of Nasi Lemak stall at this hawker center. Everyone flock there to open a Nasi Lemak stall due to what the place is famous for. However, based on my research, the one that started it all is a stall call "International Nasi Lemak" (has a green signboard) or something like that. I tried almost every existing Nasi Lemak stall there at Changi Village and indeed, International's the one that come up top - for me at least.

If you like beaches, I recommend you check out Lazurus Island, one of the southern islands in Singapore. The most beautiful beach in Singapore is there, a true hidden gem. Water is very clear as well since there is little ship traffic there :) You can get there via a short ferry to St John's island. Better go there before too many people find out about that place! There are no shops there, so bring snacks and water!
