In this video I see if it is possible to carbonate soda by adding 22 bags of pop rocks in it. First, in order to get my soda to have no carbonation and be completely flat, I put it in the vacuum chamber. Then I add the pop rocks to pressurize the soda with CO2 and see if it actually adds carbonation to the soda.

To make flat soda great again, I usually just add lemon juice. Sodas rely on CO2 to add enough acidity to make it taste good. Lemonade tastes fine without carbonation.

To get better results, use a smaller bottle like 4oz and fill water or soda to the top to minimize the air space which is compressible. Liquids are incompressible, so a small change in volume causes a large increase in pressure.

Try using dry ice it works I've done it on water but I wasn't a chemical genius back then so the bottle exploded and hit my leg after bouncing on a wall but hey it got carbonated

If it explode, it means there was too much carbon dioxite, and the cap wasn't even strong enough to hold the bottle until it explode. 99.99% of the time the cap would blow up before the bottle ever get a chance to have 1mm of bounce. seems not so legit, but again Im sure the bottle got filled with CO2 and the drink didn't get carbonated.

The old type of ring pull that was on the soda cans till the 1990's definitely used to explode much more spectacularly after shaking than the ring pulls that are on cans today. If you remember the old style ring pulls that completely detatched from the can when opening. You didn't even need to shake the old type that much to get quite a reaction. As kids me and my brother regularly caused drinks cans to almost completely empty instantly hitting the ceiling in the living room in a way as spectacular as mentos in a cola bottle

I've always obviously got this totally wrong! I thought the pressure did increase when shaking an unopened bottle. It really seems harder to squeeze until the foam settles down again. But perhaps that's just a misconception based on expectation!? I thought it had something to do with the increased kinetic energy making bubbles and increased nucleation points pushing a larger gradient between the dissolved gas and the air space. I obviously need to watch your other vids!
