Oh, so that's why Ganon is so much more accurate with his attacks, and turns around so much faster after being hit in the second phase. I never put it together that he was targeting you. It's so obvious thinking about it now, considering he has to walk in a circle after being hit to face you again in the first phase..

You can defeat Gold Skulltulas with rocks. I know this because one of the houses in Kakariko Village near the entrance to Death Mountain Trail has rocks by it, and a Gold Skulltula that spawns on the wall at night. Every time I start a new save in OoT, I always try to nail my Rock Throw to take down that golden skitter-skitter, and I almost always succeed. (Edit) 100+ likes? Thanks! Beating Ganon with a soup ladal and a pot lid! Fun! Yes someone's actually done that in Breath of the Wild. If you watch SMF Cartoon's there's a particular one where Ganon is trying to read a book and have some soup where Link is causing all these fights and explosions around him interrupting him. It's funnier when you actually watch it. I think that's why there's a soup ladel in the game. A programmer saw the cartoon.

I've never thought about using pots to hurt enemies in ocarina of time

You can hurt enemies with rocks too, the problem is simply that the hit-box of rocks are super small comparatively to pots, barely even 1/10 the size of the rock itself! Meaning, it isn't that rocks are unable to harm enemies, it is simply extremely difficult to accurately *HIT* the foe with a rock. Meanwhile, the hit-box of a pot is roughly the same size as the pot itself, which makes it relatively easier to hit things with. An easy way to test this is throwing rocks at pots themselves. So long as you are in an area where pots are abundant, throwing a rock is likely to hit at least one of them... Granted, in Kakariko Village, after you've gathered all the Cuccos in one location, it can be fairly easy to hit them with rocks as well (assuming they are bunched together on one small area). In my experience, the easiest foes to hit with rocks are any flying foes that come swopping down at Link from above. If you simply wait until the very last second before they hit Link to throw the rock at them, you'll nearly guarantee hitting them with the rock. However, there aren't very many locations within the game where you can pick up a rock to throw at aerial foes. Meaning, apart from using a hack/cheat to forcibly spawn rocks in locations they wouldn't normally otherwise exist, the only opportunities you'll get to hit flying foes with rocks in regular gameplay will be Dodongo's Cavern and Gerudo Desert. It is also possible to harm signs with rocks so long as they are signs that can be destroyed and so long as your aim with the rock-throw is good enough to actually hit the sign.
