As someone who has been studying the Loomis method and wants to draw manga, this video is a godsend. Thank you so much! 🔥🔥🔥 can you do more videos on the Loomis method? Your channel is very helpful!
I'm almost certain Masayuki Taguchi uses Loomis method of drawing heads in his Battle Royale manga. It's a really good manga to study for visual storytelling anyway, but the Loomis method adds a bit more of interest for me since I love this in between manga and realistic style of drawing characters.
As someone who's been almost exclusively drawing manga style, using Loomis method, I'm--wait, Loomis method isn't supposed to be for manga style? I personally found that shifting to Loomis method actually improves my head construct. Maybe it's because Loomis method breaks down fundamental construct better than typical manga method, and it's easier to find your way to stylize once you know the fundamentals to work on and modify to be in your own style. Thank you for confirming I'm not doing the wrong thing! Hopefully one day I can diversify my style with the help of Loomis method!
Hey Tim another great vid! Could you possibly in the future do a video on how to draw tech? Like te stuff we see in Tatsuyuki Tanaka pieces. He has all these intricate backgrounds and I have no idea how they approach that stuff...
I've been struggling with the loomis method for quite sometime! This has been helpful. Thank you. Do you think you can do a video on using the loomis method with the disney style drawing?
I followed the link and watched through some of the videos on your website and didn't see anything about "head construction mistakes." Do you have another link or did I just miss it somewhere?
I don't feel like the trdaitional Loomis construction is practical for manga, at least girls in an eastern style, especially around eyes, brows and jaw. You kind of have to make a slight changes to the formula to make up for the anatomical rules that get broken. Adult male characters that are much closer to western comic on the other hand can easily be done well with Loomis I think.
I like your channel, but this video misses the question. Someone will watch Proko’s video with 10m views and later get frustrated that very little of what they learned applies to drawing like Yoh Yoshinari. Anime and cartoons in general take MANY deviations from the base Loomis style that can’t be broken down as easily as changes in proportion. What’s needed is rules of anatomy and different approaches to drawing, which I understand goes well beyond the scope of a simple youtube video.
