What do you prefer? A fixed or broken window? Also can we not comment "someone else already did it" - I'm aware. First off the designer said it could be fixed. And my audience isn't their audience. Most people here won't have seen it.
I think the extra pieces are excusable since they're necessary to create the explosion effect. I could be wrong though! I would love to see someone build a similar effect using only the pieces for the fixed window!
5:42 those parts at the side is for extra reinforcement. There are studs at the back of the window plate that connect there. That's because normally there would be more wieght because of the green goblin glider, and that prevents the window to fall out on your display when he window's broken
The headlight bricks on the side windows are probably to strengthen the broken window section so the weight of Goblin's Glider doesn't pull it away from the building.
This is the correct answer. The glider and explosion elements are too heavy for the amount of studs securing the detachable front pane, so you get extra reinforcement with those specialized side windows.
Yeah I figured that out when I put the window with glider on the building and it started peeling itself off. I had the headlight bricks turned around by accident
I was really worried about not having enough pieces to let it complete, now that my only concern was solved im already saving a spot to this beauty in my shelf
5:36 if anybody didn’t know those pieces are there for support for the window to clip on to because the it would otherwise be too heavy since the green goblin is hangin off the side
I think if you close up the 3rd floor window so there's no explosion you could place those headlight bricks behind the 2nd floor big screen in order to have the same window pieces in place of them.
The reason why there's studs on the side for that window is because the goblin glider and all of the other explosion pieces make this widow heavier than the others and it needs more support
My LEGO CITY is based on DC sets and this is a marvel one, so I cannot have the window broken with GOBLIN just blastin out, so this really helps me. Thank you Ashnflash!!!
I feel like the little anomalies in the glass are to hold the panel in place because the extra pieces and the flyer would make it too heavy so it may fall out without the extra clutch power. That may be completely wrong but it’s a guess?
The extra clear pieces are another point of connection to account for the extra weight of all the pieces for the explosion. The pane falls forward otherwise.
Ahhh good to know just got this set and I got to the part of the broken window and I was like surely you can fix it in the normal way right and yeah ya can
When something solid is reduced to rubble, it becomes larger in volume (because of air getting in between the rubble) for example, when you dig 1 square meter of dirt out of the ground, youre gonna have a pile of roughly 1,5 to 2 square meters. maybe this explains the extra parts
As a comics reader, I think Goblin have launched a bomb and then is flying away, so there are other pieces that rapresent pieces of wall, maybe even the interior wall, the ceiling, etc.. :) Great video, I have the set but not builded for now and I was interested to know if was possible to repair that part without buying extra pieces :D
It looks like the broken wall has two extra points of contact on the inside wall that connects to those "filled in" parts of that floor. They likely did this because things are hanging off of it, anding extra weight, not to mention is you're trying to reposition anything. All the extra pieces are also for added stability, as the bulk out the top and bottom and help lock the connection of the mixel joints. I'd say if you want to move the broken window to Jamesons office instead, maybe take scorpion from the bridge set and recreate the scene from the playstation/64 spiderman game, you'd want to switch out the top side panes for the solid bricks.
Thanks for this video!! I just bought my set on Saturday and am still putting it together. I was wondering if there would be a way to fix the broken window, and now I may try that before I finish the top levels of the building. I also didn't add a lot of the floor plate pieces to the levels inside the tower so I can have spots to put some more figures, but I will look into buying the correct jumper plates to clean it up but still have those spots for figures. I also did the same thing with my Mysterio and used the smoke piece, as well as going to add some additional figures to the set such as Hobgoblin, Electro, (from Amazing Spider-Man 2 Polybag), and Spider-Girl.
I think having the fixed window would look great if you took all of the characters off and just fixed everything and had it just as a normal building and mabye put in a modular city just as another building
Fixing the window takes away the dinamic impression it gives ... now it’s just a tall bldg..... why question the pieces required? It’s obvious not possible without them....
I'm definitely gonna fix my window when I build mine. I was in journalism for several years in middle school and I have a high respect and fondness for the newspaper and reporting industry, so I want to focus more on the building and the story than the villainous attackers when I display mine.
If you want another scene with green goblin it would be good to have the fixed window or if you want it to look normal. Great video, keep up the good work. Hope everyone is having a nice day
only real ones know how the window broke if you watched Spider-Man (2002) you know about the scene were the goblin breaks a hole in the bugle specificaly JJJs office and peter who was in the room as well changed and got gassed up and we got the "me and you were not so different" meme
5:42 those studs and the brick are there because the weight of green goblin on the window makes the whole thing tilt down. so, if you dont have those, goblin will fall. but if you fix the window, you do not need those studs and bricks anymore. the reason why they did not add those on the TV screen window is because it doesnt have much weight on the front of it unlike the goblin one(aka the third floor window)
