@@scoppergabon7477 Robert Mugabe is the former president of Zimbabwe who was known for helping to free Zimbabwe from British rule but also served as a dictator for over 30 years, while Desmond Tutu was the Archbishop of Cape Town who was known for his activism against Apartheid and winning the Nobel Peace Prize. Basically, they are two VERY different people.
@@scoppergabon7477 From Alex's comment, it sounds like Robert Mugabe was like Shaq in his prime. Back when centers were focal points, he dominated the league (Zimbabwe). Desmond Tutu seems to be more of a traditional point guard who likes to get everyone involved and help out the rest of the team, a total floor general.
The Japanese Army of Darkness poster had the film titled as "Captain Supermarket". Commenting so that non Japanese readers can also enjoy this information.
My grandfather is Polish and had the Polish poster for Apocalypse Now in his house and when I was little it used to scare the everloving shit out of me. Haven't seen it until today. Cheers, brother.
There is a famous polish photo of a soviet tank in front of a banner for apocalypse now. It was taken during the cold war when Poland was forced to be in the soviet union and military frequently stopped protests and riots.
The fact he’s talking about suspiria being an example of the baader meinhoff phenomenon when the baader meinhoff story is actually a part of the remake 🤯
Well I'm Polish and big NL Sporacle enjoyer so might as well translate the 37:45 quiz: Dumbo is unchanged. Terminator somehow got translated into "Electronic murderer" thats what Elektroniczny morderca literally means. Breakfast and Saturday night were translated verbatim Alien is "Alien the 8th passenger of Nostromo". Why they added that extra part no clue. Empire is "Empire counterattacks" so pretty much verbatim. Apocalypse now is "Time of apocalypse" Blues brothers didnt get translated, its same for us (just without the "The"). Short circuit is translated verbatim Old Yeller got changed to "Yellow pooch" (pooch = big dog) Fly is verbatim Ghandi is same Gremlins is "Gremlins act up" or "Gremlins misbehave" Tootsie was left the same Birds was translated verbatim. Ptaki literally means birds in polish.
For the following one the Polish ones: Planet of the apes is verbatim The Muppet Movie is "Muppets drive to Holywood" Close encounters is verbatim Spaceballs is verbatim Alien 3 is actually a mistake from quiz maker. That poster is for Aliens which got translated into "Alien: Deciding face-off"/ "Alien Vital Battle" something in that ballpark. Also no clue why our translator added that 2nd part. Alien 3 from what im seeing was translated verbatim and poster is similar to OG one.
@@amandak.4246 In polish we often have diminutive and augmentative forms of nouns. piesek = doggy pies = dog psisko = big dog (it's pretty rarely used and can sometimes have negative connotations)
Oh yeah, they are often liberal in translating titles to polish. The most prominent one is Die Hard which translates to "Glass Trap" lol. But about the Alien ones maybe it's because "Alien" and "Aliens" both translate to "obcy", there's no difference between singular and plural form.
Yo Ryan you need to know about Japanese baseball team names. It's insane. Other sports have naming rights of teams' stadiums, while Japanese baseball they offer naming rights of the teams. So the Rakuten baseball jersey is not just the name of the team's sponsor, it's also the team's name, that team is literally called Rakuten Golden Eagles. There's also a Lotte Marines. Same thing in Korea, there're KIA, Samsung, and Lotte teams.
If any non-european is interested in the football/soccer sponsor thing, the reason sponsors are big and occupies a big chunk of the front shirt is because long ago companies started offering insane amounts of money to top teams to have their sponsors there, so much that it would have been idiotic to refuse the deal. The thing is that in european football there isn't an actual cap on salaries or transfer fees, so in a simplistic way the more money, the better the team gets and when a sponsor can offer you even 70 million euros per season it means that accepting that sponsor or not makes the difference between potentially signing the best player in their role or having the opponents sign them, so ofc they all have a big ass sponsor on their shirt. You could ask "Well, but if everybody has a sponsor, isn't like nobody having one?", well no, because small teams get very little money in comparison to top teams, so by keeping sponsors the football environment ensures that top teams get to stay on top-ish, because most of the income in the industry comes from top teams being watched and recognized all over the world, so as long Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Barcelona, Juventus etc. keep competing at high level most of the casuals fans outside Europe will continue watching european competitions, while europeans will watch it regardless because that's the way it goes.
"These two are bullshit, they're both insane" and yet while you got most sport bro's, I got NFS II SE as soon as I saw it. Also how'd you not get Mugabe, for shame dude.
42:30 whenever someone says AI generated art looks fucked up, show them this quiz. I cannot believe actual real human beings created these abominations.
As a 50 year old, I would not punch someone in the face for talking shit about Back to the Future. People like what they like and hate what they hate, who cares?
