It was straightforward, except who ever heard of the Clam by Elvis.

Great to see this kind of content.. everybody likes a name that tune session. I was a disc jockey in the late 70s at an oldies station, so I’m not easily stumped.. but that’s only due to me playing all of those songs a few thousand times and attempting to find new ways to wittily introduce them or be creative on the outros.

Soo Glad to hear you enjoyed it! It’s always a risk to do something new but keeps things interesting. And I think these things are fun and lighthearted which is needed.

I was 7 years old in 1965. My mom was a young woman still and would have the radio playing all the time. So I know the sixties, especially British Invasion. I better get them all. Ha. I had to get both the name of the artist and the song title. I missed four.

BIG BOO-BOO here. GLORIA was sung by the Shadows of Knight, a band from Chicago, my home town. I saw them in a concert MC’ed by Clark Weber, a popular DJ of the time from WLS AM 890 Chicago. It was 1966 & I was 14. Who is (were) “Them”???😳

Them actually recorded Gloria first. Van Morrison wrote it. It was the flip side of "Baby Please Don't Go" and many US cities, such as Boston, did not play Gloria because it was too suggestive... The Shadows of Knights version does ROCK though.

I'd love to know where "Do the Clam" made a radio playlist. It was written by worst filmmaker of all time Ed Wood's girlfriend Delores. If you weren't into Elvis movies, you probably never heard it.

Do the Clam was released as a single by RCA reaching no. 21 on Billboard in the United States, no. 15 on the Record World chart, no. 16 in Canada and the American Cashbox charts, and no. 19 in the United Kingdom.

"Do the Clam" was/is on the Soundtrack record for Elvis Presley's 1965 movie: "Girl Happy".
