I liked the Beatles when they became HUGE . I knew George was held down , dismissed by the other two as the lead guitar player of the band , but not for songs . Amazing how he blossomed ,his music ,songs in my estimation out did John And Paul . They knew he was talented and expanding his Talent but held him down . It was always LENNON / McCARTNEY headlined. Georges SOLO music after the BEATLES broke up , BLEW MY MIND ! The best of them all !
Joni was petty for that 😂 but it is lovely that they all made beautiful art from their escapades, and just their lifestyle then seemed magical besides the hard drugs except grass. Just seemed more liberating, now you can barely go outside or to travel because there is too much shit to worry about (Im sure it was then), but it seemed more free
I was 10 yo , i still remember all these songs, sure miss the old days but im very lucky to be born back then, had a great life, people had brains , kindness and love in there hearts, and no cell phones 😢
If you don't want to put ypur work in a little box and sell it maybe you should do that as a hobby and find another business you're willing to do. Buiness is business.
One of those times i've always been fascinated by, and i love mid/late 60's psychedelic music and culture. I was born in 71, so i was a generation late. I always think that with any of these countercultural moments, its not about the drugs, the clothes, the lingo, its the lessons that you should learn about not fearing difference and realising that behind the social divisions, constructs and labels of class, race, gender, nationality etc we are ALL the same humanity and no matter what happens in the future our shared humanity will remain. Once Haight Ashbury's moment ended, once the Monterey Pop concert or Woodstock were over, THATs when the hard work was needed. It is precisely when the musics over when the lesson should be understood. It is what you take with you in your heart and apply to the rest of your life when these cultural movements have gone. The peace and love, community, love for nature and others etc, was completely forgotten by the vast majority of those people once they grew up/got corporate jobs - save for an occasional joint, and listening to the doors while snorting a few lines. Once they realised that the REAL revolution meant giving up some of the privileges that mom and pops bestowed on them, they ran as fast as possible back to what was safe and comfortable. Some people DID walk the walk, and made sure that those core ideals got passed down to future generations. The late 80's/early 90's acid house/rave culture in the U.K was a seismic cultural shift that carried A LOT of those idealistic lessons from the 60's into a new cultural movement that spread around the world. Some people go along for the ride, but some people get the bigger message and emotion being expressed by everyone, and try and do better for the world. We are not just mindless drones existing on this rock just to slave our lives away for faceless corporations, we are thinking, feeling human beings, capable of creating beautiful things to inspire each other to make the world a better place for everyone like science, art, music and poetry! Pass it on!🫶
He's pissed off at all the blood suckers and shitty people. I. personally I think social media is now doing what most said would never happen. Its making people more accountable .They now know they're not cool and haven't a clue about what it means to be loved and admired. People are waking up and trying to be the best they can.
I will never in a million years understand why she left this beautiful man who told Mick “i’ll join the band on one condition: that my girlfriend Stevie can join” to be with Mick! I mean come on Stevie what we’re you thinking? And she’s always joked over the years how she’s still attracted to him and joked about getting back together with him I DO think she’s jealous he found love with another woman. She didn’t! I’m not saying she can’t be an independent woman but i’ve never met these people and even I can tell they are soul mates. And he was RIGHT THERE for so many years and she was like “nah”…. SMH 😑
Some of these anecdotes make me love Van more than I already do. He is definitely from a more mystical realm than most humans and sometimes has no tolerance for the nonsense! That seems to be the big conflict!
This was FUN! 🤸♂️🤸♀️🤸♂️ Round 1 - I have 6 correct Round 2 - 5 correct .. p.s. I studied art in college in hopes of becoming an album cover artist ... Lol 🎨🖌 I dropped out, tuned-in and turned on instead✨️
It was sad to hear Ray pretend Jim faked his own death. He knew better. He was trying to keep the Jim Morrison money making myth going and it was sort of pathetic. The music is good enough on its own
many posers then as there are now....dressin like a hippie wasnt bein a hippie....from what i saw....they moved back in with their parents.....$$$$$.....end of story!
$70 dollar/mo rent in CALIFORNIA????!!!!!!!!!!! PFFFFFFFT No wonder so many people are pissed off about America. Try $1500/ mo for a shitty apartment in rainy ass oregon
In 1967 I was 18,had shoulder-length hair with bell-bottom pants.Grass was $10 for a "lid",hash $10 a gram acid was a dollar a hit I remember much of the stuff in this video. By 1968 the speedfreaks and other trash moved in and destroyed the place Thus is the world!
And if the band you're in starts playing in different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon. These Roger lyrics and Syd's DARK GLOBE ones, especially the part when Syd Barret asks: won't you miss me? Wouldn't you miss me at all? Every time I listen to these songs I often start crying.
I would've loved too hear Janis Joplin , and Van Morrison perform one song together...Im sure Van wouldn't have delt with Joplin style well, even thow they're both are brilliant and on the same level !!!. I could see Van acting like a Turd and Joplin , poring a Whisky over his head... With Morrison's personality, it wouldn't have been possible !!!.( P.S ) RICKY LEE JONES IS ONE OF THE BEST IN THE INDUSTRY, JONES NEVER RECEIVED THE LOVE THAT SHE DESERVED ❤🎉. Check out Ricky lee Jones , you won't regret it ❤🎉🎉🎉 .
Excellent insight into Van the Man. I saw Van perform ONE song. Ronnie Wood Ian McLaughlin and Bernard Fowler ... great show. The Warfield, San Francisco with my dear and since passed friend Chip. Towards the end of the show.. we could see a rotund baldish man in sunglasses bumbling around back behind the amplifiers coming out and going back.. . He looked like a drunk lost gym teacher. while Ronnie an the band were hamming The guy came back out in a a shiny track suit . . Suddenly Ronnie announced:' " Ladies & Gentleman ' Van Morrison!" Man,that gym teacher coukd sing. Ha! One of the best rncores I've ever seen🎉❤
